I actually decided to randomly do like 10 resets for this little guy a few years ago, and BAM shiny on like my 4th reset. I'm shiny hunting it again and it's taking it's sweet time, also I've never seen so many female starters before until I started this hunt again

actually it's not optimal to check for the gender. yes, you do save about 26 seconds, but roughly once every 8 times if you choose to not give a nickname you save about 10 seconds, everytime. so if i SR 80 times and check the gender everytime, it would take me about 57mins but if i choose to skip giving nickname it would only take me about 48mins for 80SR's Time for 1 SoftReset when checking for the gender: ♂️46 seconds, you SR at the summary screen ♀️20seconds, you SR at the nickname screen 7/8 ♂️ = 7×46sec = 322sec + 1/8♀️ = 1×20sec = 20sec = 342sec. doing that 10× would be ~57min (from 80SR's 10 are female) Time for 1 SoftReset when not checking the gender: =36seconds. doing that 80 times would be ~48min so yea. its better to not check the gender if you want to safe roughly 15HRS in the end (1 in 8192 chance for a shiny in this gen)
where are you losing 10 seconds when you open the nickname screen? in my own testing i got 36 seconds per nickname check, 34 seconds skipping the nickname check, and extrapolating that assuming every 8 checks has 1 female it actually saves 2 seconds per round of 8 over not checking which is about half an hour saved in a full 8192 checks so while not really worth it in the long run its def not 15 hours slower like you got

This video will be very useful for me! I am going to start a gift only DTQ in crystal, and was having trouble with choosing between cyndaquil or chikorita. Because cyndaquil is the fastest one to SR for, I think I'll go with cyndaquil when I start it!
Found my 3ds again and I came here because I wanted to verify the health stat thing since I remembered how the dv's affect shininess this gen. Got over 1517 sr's so far and hopefully shaving off more seconds will get me closer ^^;.
Any tips for staying motivated? I'm at the 54 Hour Mark in terms of actual gameplay and it's getting monotonous, I'm at the point of "I've gone to far to give up."
My very first shiny was in Pokémon crystal when the egg you get from the daycare hatched into a shiny little cleffa. I was beyond confused and thought my game glitched out. Didn’t know shiny Pokémon were a thing until many years later.
It's a shame that Crystal is apparently a little slower than G/S because Crystal is also the only one you can have a Typhlosion with Thunder Punch so I gotta do it 😅

Do you know if this glitch interferes with shiny sprites or anything like that? Crazy question I know but just wanna make sure. Hunting is making me go a little mad…

@@Rath_Man if you hunt for cyndaquill I recommend evolving it in hisui so you get a cool shiny hisuian typhlosion with the gameboy mark.
