A beautiful interview with Jeremy - thank you for sharing it. We were priviliged to see and hear Jeremy in concert last night in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was wonderful to get some more of the story behind Jeremy's songs and music. Thank you!
the bit about language and culture in the end speaks to me. I live in south Brazil and I am seeing languages and their cultural traditions that sprouted here over thousands of years, be them from native peoples or immigrants that came here some hundreds of years ago, have been erased slowly and then got on a turbo speed of erasure since the 60s. I wish we as a people would take some more concrete action to preserve them, think that's why I became a linguist
@@jeremysmith2871, oh, he changed my life the moment I first heard him sing. I'm a singer and pianist myself, but I'm like a gnat next to a lion. "Mehcinut' was my first, and the SECOND the song started, in my head, it's like "You are my master, I am your servant, TEACH ME!" And to put the cherry on top, he's also a wonderful person. Dayum.
Incredible! Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa shot straight to my #1 album of the year and top 100 fave albums of all time immediately when I heard it back in 2018. Can't wait to see what else Jeremy has in store for us ❤
Such beautiful music, and such a wonderful aspiration! In these scary times, during the last twitchings of cultural arrogance, it’s so heartening to hear the hope and ingenuity that’s going to replace it!
Such a beautiful soul.
Beautiful human, beautiful music.

Incredible musician. Love the passion he brings to the music, it’s admirable.

I saw him with Yo-Yo Ma and Sarah Prosper. Get ready to change.

@@codechartreuse, not in this case. I'm shaking my head because he's so astonishing. More like a "Wow" reaction is how I intend it.
I'm seeing him in Toronto tonight in less than 2 hours and can't wait.

Indigenous ways and indigenous beings are going to save the world. I love this being.
TIP: watch this interview through to the end. Some of the most inspiring insights are in the final 5 minutes. 🤯
Chi Megwech for this. "...not a climate crisis...a human crisis." Language liberation rocks!
