I am surprised that the guy actually wanted to play the second game... I would have uninstalled SC2 and take up a less painful hobby, like using a cheese-grater on my nutsack...
whew! the ending game with reaper roach micro was tense. You could just feel Marc's intensity he's still casting while playing. Great job friend! Keep them coming.
A modification for if a Ghosts challenge in TvT runs into cyclones: allow you to build marauders. You'd already have the production set up, and they're not very gas intensive.
Haven’t played SC since Brood War but your videos have been so much fun to watch. Makes me want to play again… or just wait for the next video! Your positivity and respect for others combined with talented gameplay will serve you well now and far into the future!
As a fellow oldie, I recommend giving it a try. The game is way better than SC1, and i made it to gold after a couple of months of terrible 50apm play. Had some intense fun along the way and got even more appreciation for the pros. The people you run into on the lower ladder and funny and you meet some wacky builds.
Checked what my most watched youtuber was this year and you were it by a long mile, watched over 180 videos since the bong cloud series. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the content!
The 2nd vs Sunset was extremely good, those forward map positions reminded me of a challenge I suggested "All units allowed but tactical baiting into prepared defensive positions (ambushing)" - the 3rd way; not really cheese not really macro not even in between those two but a different way of thinking altogether by heavily exploiting the map in tandem with unit compositions. Takes some distraction to set it up properly, but so many crazy scenarios possible like baiting opponent into a planetary tank mine position that wasn't there just a couple minutes earlier, opponent withdraws because a nuke comings in... directly into another nuke that was launched at almost the same time, if timed and placed well the ambushers can be repaired/healed and the cost is in the nukes a pf and a turret plus a few lost mines, but it really takes brain and apm to pull that off, if we just had a real chad^^
Hot damn these games were spicy! My favorite is the cyclone mine game, that was pure domination, taking over the whole map and denying the zerg on multiple flanks. Beautiful!
the nuke was amazing! As for the challenges I think it would be ok to choose whichever best fits the map, so if there is good spot for nukes, go for ghosts, if there are big air gaps behind bases, go for mass air
Hey!, long time fan here. I never leave comments. Just had to say that last game was awesome. Your micro, unit control has always amazed me. Keep up the great content!
I have never played ranked starcraft but despite that I can understand most of what's going on due to your commentary. Thank you for your work, it is just pure gold
That cyclone widows mine as amazing !!! It's so terran lore, like, build a giant fortress, with mine field, again and again to contain the zerg infestation ! I love it !
Well we want to see you get as far as possible in these - so maybe pick the challenge based on the map (so it does well on that map). That way things are still somewhat random and a challenge, but stands a chance of working :)
Suggestion: if you're doing random challenges like this, maybe record yourself picking them with a random number generator or something. It would add a bit of content, and I think be pretty entertaining to see your reaction
I would love to see you adapt the challenges to your opponent/race/map. You are already handicapping yourself in a fun way, we would love to watch that. No need to commit to the same strategy across a best of 3 in my opinion. Keep up the great content! :) Edit: Finished the video, absolutely amazing run!!! I think this is my favorite SC2 video I have EVER seen. I have been watching lowko and harstem for a couple years. Keep it up!!
In your first zerg game, I think a good adaptation might be that if you see a spine there, that you also bring 1-2 drones from your proxy hatch to start building an additional spine or two. It will at least distract his zerglings for awhile, and you might be able to cancel and rebuild it with good micro.
Changing per map/race match-up makes sense. If it's a best-of-3, having them know your cheese for the next 1-2 games will make the series' harder to carry out, especially with how well-known your series have become amongst the grandmasters. May as well keep them on their toes!
I feel that the thrill of changing it up every game would outweight the anticipation of how the opponents will adapt to the same playstyle in the series. I just think it would be better content.
The bongcloud was the first challenge i saw! I just saw a random video in my feed and i was like "what's Ke2 in StarCraft?" And been hooked since then! Love your content
I have an idea for gameplay whether it's in tournaments or road to grandmaster. RNG with dice. Here's how it works: You get 3 dice. 2 white and 1 red (or use 2 dice and reroll one). The white is your ground offensive choices (this excludes scv's, drones, probes, mules). Your red is your air offensive choice (this excludes any that do not attack). On your white dice is 6 ground only units of your choice; on your red die is 6 air only units of your choice. You roll both dice and those are your two units ground units. If you roll DOUBLES, it is a cheese attempt for that unit. Then you roll the red for your one air unit. future games you're welcome to swap it to 1 ground unit and 2 air units to RNG some cheese air comps. If you lose 3 games in a row, you are allowed to roll one additional die to add a unit to your arsenal. As an additional challenge to this, you must alternate between ground or air for continuous losses. So if you lose 3 and pick air, the next 3 losses you have to pick ground.
"Wrench in plans" is correct, I think it refers to the trouble caused when you accidentally drop a wrench in the gears of a machine you're working on- it causes all kinds of problems.
I mean... That reaper micro for a living... Dude! After so much awesomeness, you're allowed to do whatever you want to do, permission granted. Ha sido alucinante, tío!!!
What about assigning every terran unit a number and using a random number generator to select 2-3 random units every game for a series idea? Planetary widow mine lets gooooo. Also for your random challenges you could assign specific numbers to each one so instead of "cheese" it is more specific like "proxy hatch".
Hi. Big fan. Great shows. Id like to recommend putting together series winning strategies to roll, not just game strategy. For example, BongCloud into Mass Marine/Medivac with Cheese for a possible 3rd game as one series that can be rolled. Start the 3 game series with a confusing challenge, like BongCloud or Proxy Hatch and have your stronger challenges like cheese or Penguin Bro.s Advanced later in the series. Give yourself more of a chance to win the series. Anyways, great stuff, keep on crushing it!
in the tournament videos itd be cool to see you pick which challenge would be good for the matchup, slightly more tryhard in the tournament to make a deeper run is better imo. love the vids overall thermal
Since TvT late game, esp. Ghost Vs Mech is hard, how about you adding, say up to 5 ravens for the 'anti-armor' and 'interference matrix' to aid your ghosts? All damage still comes from the ghosts but it would make them less exposed from long range tanks/cyclones and improve their DPS against all armoured units
Uthermal said that ghosts are not as lethal as dts because clocking uses energy for ghosts, but as uthermal demonstrated, the ghosts could emp orbitals leaving the opponent without detection.
The new format is a success. A good nuke is always a banger, and the last game is also an emotion roller coaster. The rule for me is just making sure you have fun and also have a chance to win. You can build 130 marins and a-move for 2 games facing low mmr opponents, and it'll be so much fun to watch, but against pros, it'll be a suiside. Random challenge gives you a better chance than running the same strategy against a pro for 3 games, but I can already see random become tragic if rng's not in your favor. If it's up to me, I'd like to see you keep the one challenge format(or random format, don't really care) till you meet pros, then you switch to try-hard mode, picking a chellange for each game yourself to give it a better chance.
out of topic but for me you are the best starcraft2 youtuber, you are entertaining and fun to watch. last week I've been spamming your videos and started to play starcraft for the first time.
Definitely change it every game, I think the confusion of "what is he doing" is not only entertaining but also something you could use to your advantage
You can switch challenges in between bo3 games. This takes advantage of your reputation for sticking to the challenges even to your detriment, possibly giving a slight edge against people who try to counter it. You could do this strategically, picking the next challenge based on what would might best counter the counter.
Hey :) you can do challenges however you want, game by game or match by match based. just keep the great content coming, its a pure pleasure to feel you positive attitude towards the game and life in general. love you 🤗 maybe less bong cloud, just want to see you perform great in the tournament and advance far enough to play against koreans :)
The work ethic of this man…daily video drops with hyper detailed commentary and entertaining non-meta strats. Amazing stuff
It's like discovering a true gem of nerd entertainment, pure pleasure.
that scv nuke was heartbreaking to watch. I loved every microsecond of it
I am surprised that the guy actually wanted to play the second game... I would have uninstalled SC2 and take up a less painful hobby, like using a cheese-grater on my nutsack...
he noticed it at the very last second
@@Kholdaimon been there... done that

“It wasn’t smart, but it WAS beautiful” 🤣🤣🤣 Oh Thermy, I do love you… sometimes I can’t help but lmao
Ive watched this video 4 times already and can confirm this is a certified uThermal classic
I REFUSE to watch any clip without a DanDoc certification!! 😂😂
These videos have literally become my most anticipated part of the day. You're a seriously good entertainer.
RIGHT?!
I don't mind seeing different strats for each matchup and map! I like seeing the thought processes of a madman
Psycho*
*Madlad not madman. He's not a "total psycho" most of the time.
I think switching is a better idea. It lets everyone get to see their favorite builds instead of just one group.
whew! the ending game with reaper roach micro was tense. You could just feel Marc's intensity he's still casting while playing. Great job friend! Keep them coming.
Killer reaper micro!
31:50 "let's get up to a really good amount of hatcheries..." as you put down like 6 Factories lol, I loved that. hatching all the widows~
That reaper micro was insane! Nostalgic indeed! Very beautiful!!
That reaper game was pro Uthermal and not retired Uthermal

That first nuke was so big brain🤯.
Was waiting all morning for this. I might be addicted lol
same here. i'm so glad thermy's posting regularly again
I know I’m addicted haha. Need moar!

the ghost challenge is really hard but no other challenge delivers amazing games quite like it.
@@michaellochlann4797 with the difference you know about the nuke 15 seconds in advance or how much

I love the idea of having different challenges every game, even wanted to propose it - it should be fun and catch opponents off guard!
Checked what my most watched youtuber was this year and you were it by a long mile, watched over 180 videos since the bong cloud series. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the content!
I think you should absolutely NOT be limited to the same challenge for an entire Bo3.
7:16 epic scv nuke! The morale drop for this guy must have been devastating.
12:56 second scv massacre.
Wow, amazing episode haha. That nuke was absolutely jaw dropping, and the reaper micro in the last game was just godly. gggggggg
Last time I've played SC2 was in 2009 but you are so amazing to watch I just can't stop doing it.
I am entertained and thanks to you! Amazing plays!
Always excited when a proxy hatch video drops :)
That Reaper micro was more satisfying to watch than anything I've seen in another of your videos. Bravo.
@4:45 you are so nice about his utter destruction. Not a hint of malice. “ That was an absolute disaster… and an absolute miracle for us”
I just can't believe you can do a bunch of these crazy things and still have fun. I will watch no matter what. GLFH!!
I did doubt you were going to win the last game. Way to fight to the end. You are a wizard
12:34 Yeah, you're correct. "A wrench in your plans" comes from an old idea of throwing a wrench into a machine to stop the gears from turning.
Oh man, the second to last match covering everything with planetaries and turrets is so satisfying.
7:15: =O
Awesome Cyclone game! Love the Minefields and base snipes.
The never-ending Nades was a joy to behold! Hardly ever see anyone do it.

Super fun video. I love the reaper ones and that was one of, if not my favourite cyclone mine game ever.

It's "a spanner in the works", from the idea of a worker fumbling a tool into machinery that then jams on it
