As far as these challenges go, I would prefer it if you don't make rigid rules. Keeping to the theme is more than enough. So long as the build is mainly sky terran by midgame, I think most people will be happy. If you need an extra 5 or 10 marines to hold early to hit sky terran, I think everyone would prefer the marines to falling way behind.
Marc, I just wanted to say: I used to watch this one channel who would take on crazy difficult challenges, but, he would adhere so strictly to the "rules" (which he made up and HE made harder for himself) that he often lost in situations where he didn't have to. It was so unfun to watch that I stopped going to his channel. What I like about you is that you do adhere to the crazy rules of your challenges, but you also have enough self-awareness to make adjustments when needed. It is always interesting, and I genuinely don't know whether you're going to win or lose any particular match and that makes it exciting. You're a truly talented content creator and I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow! :)
GG. I think that you should switch from random challenges to choosing a challenge according to the map, the opponent and the mind game. It's hard enough as it is and it would be cool to see you beating one of the top players.
Never had interest in sc2 before. But after getting one of your videos recommend I've watched all of your videos for the last month. Hearing the pure joy in your voice playing this game is making watching these games a pleasure! Keep up the amazing work!
Hi Thermy. I honestly think that out of all recent weekly tournaments this was your best take so far. I enjoy the concept that you started to give yourself some more freedom in your challenges in order to even out the battlefield. In your next tournament I'd like to suggest you to try playing random race + challenge when it comes to Terran. You would still have the disadvantages of playing challenge / offrace but on the other hand it might give you an edge that might catch people you used to play against off guard completely not knowing what's gonna happen. On a side note, big Gabe was inspired by your insane AI challenges to do it himself so I wouldn't be surprised if he does watch your games :D Good games, I will never get tired of them!
Just want to say thanks for the amount of content you've been putting out. It's entertaining to watch you have fun, especially with the challenges. I've not played SC2 for some years now, so your live commentary is really helpful for me to follow along. Cheers and happy holidays!
This is a good idea I was thinking something similar. Playing Heromarine is hard enough even with normal builds, so having a random challege is perhaps too much of a handicap
Man I love your banshee play, it's by far my favorite terran unit. Hopefully we can see another banshee challenge in the future after the ptr buff! Maybe combined with a factory or barrack unit :)
so the way i feel it is like this: when you go "ghosts only" thats like drinking whiskey neat. when you throw in some opener marines and a reaper, that's whiskey with a splash of water. throw in some tanks, and you got some ice cubes in there. throw in a few cyclones, a raven, some medivacs and you've added brown sugar, angostura bitters, an orange rind. In the end, a lot of people like an old fashion cocktail, although whiskey neat is good too.
2 rax proxy reaper into tank viking in TvT used to be my go to strategy. The game would come down to who had the most vikings for air control. I would send one viking home to protect my base against a liberator.
An idea for a challenge came to me while watching this video: Tanks and Liberators (sieging units) to Grandmaster. I see these units used as support often, but rarely as the main force of an army.
@uThermal You are a Silly Goose but that has nothing to do with your choices in this tournament 😆 Thanks for a year of Great content. Have a Great Christmas and a Fantastic New Year!
May I ask what we all must be wondering! Can u do the tierlist of all the build both conventional and special/challenge one on viability? maybe like a mini guide on improving our rank or key point in playing :)
You know I have always wondered why every planetary invasion a species does requires you to research previously known tech, and my personal head canon is bureaucracy. It isn't that they need to relearn something it is that they have to call back to HQ and say "We have X amount of infrastructure and are meeting OSHA safety regulations. Can we please make the better bullets now?".
I think when you get to players like HeroMarine then the challenge rules go out the window. Just select what you believe to have the best chance of winning. It would be cool to see you take out one of these pros with a weird strategy, doesn't matter which one you choose.
I think for challenges with flexibility like this, you should allow yourself to defend any way required, but your offense, and map control should only be handled by the challenge units.
I'm sure this would be very boring for Marc, especially as a pro who is no longer interested in professional-level play. But I also would enjoy this very much.
Hi! I have a question.. the splits on the scws in the beginning. Isnt it better to split the top three workers towards the top minerals and then at the bottom? Seems so.. maybe saves a second for the first building
I do love these dice roll ESL challenges, but call me crazy, I'm curious how well you'd do against someone like HeroMarine if you just played normal. So doing the challenges until you get to the end of the bracket and then just play normal sounds cool to see.
What about a super scouter challenge, you can’t build units other than scvs unless it’s a reaction to units or buildings your opponent makes, so no pre made plans or builds only reactions to what the other player does so we can see you kinda fly by the seat of your pants lol
your titles makes me think i have alredy watched the video before. pretty sure i have seen atleast 4 videos with very similar 400$ title that i thought i saw before but i triple checked the release date so it had to be new or reupload
You should play like a pro next week as you have been playing nothing but challenges that way your opponent doesn’t know what to expect for the following
Stop rolling challenges. Pick a great challenge vs your opponent and do not follow strict rules but follow the theme of the challenge. I want to see you start winning ESL.

YES~
be able to build watherver units are necessary but not being able to build extra barracks and factories seems pretty nice.
Like a Bob Ross style theme of this build is... and if you need some happy little cyclones it's all good.
@@gcl2783 Man... that was beautiful. Hope Thermy sees your comment. :)
Please see this
A great illustration of Thermy’s excellent decision making and strategic analysis. Whether wins or losses we still love you Marc!!!
You're the best SC2 content creator in history!
I love ya uThermal but Husky will forever be my favorite.
@@EricDeKirkwood99 have you seen what husky has become?
@@Spanky00Cheeks i've done my best to look away.
@@LukaVulic The cult of thermy is about vibing out, trying interesting builds, and handling losses gracefully... even when getting hard countered.
Don't forget about Day9 and Husky

After hearing you at 22:14 one adaptation to pros may be that you can choose the challenge based on the map and opponent!!
This is a good idea I was thinking something similar. Playing Heromarine is hard enough even with normal builds, so having a random challege is perhaps too much of a handicap
Marc at 5:50 is reminiscent of the possibly apocryphal Wilhelm Steinitz quote in chess, "the way to refute a gambit is to accept it."
Awesome games. You are really making those challanges more and more viable, and I really like it!
I think challenges in a competition can be limited to attacks/pushes of that composition.
So you don't hamstring yourself while building that army.
playing challenges vs HeroMarine while commentating and still finding time to perform and explain high level tricks and mindgames.
Man I love your banshee play, it's by far my favorite terran unit. Hopefully we can see another banshee challenge in the future after the ptr buff! Maybe combined with a factory or barrack unit :)
You and BeastyQT are my all time favorite SC content on YT.
Beastyqt is a classic radioactive terran
uthermal was popping off these games! Another awesome video. Thanks for the entertainment.
Really enjoyed seeing you play against a famous player, thanks for the video.

that block!!!!!!! loving it
You could've said you took Sky Terran to new heights
2:35 usually sprouts give me gas but there you go xD
New challenge idea: gold base first on every map to gm. Call it the Gold Rush.
Thanks for all your videos I'm a beast with terran now!! 💪
You always crush with speed banshees, you're going to be unstoppable when the new patch drops.
So you're saying there's a chance with speed banshees? Good stuff! Always appreciated!
An idea for a challenge came to me while watching this video: Tanks and Liberators (sieging units) to Grandmaster. I see these units used as support often, but rarely as the main force of an army.
20:30 bruh that disable juke was nasty!
Dice challenge:
You should make some dice with units on them. Then roll the dice 2 or 3 times and those are the units you can make.
@uThermal You are a Silly Goose but that has nothing to do with your choices in this tournament 😆 Thanks for a year of Great content. Have a Great Christmas and a Fantastic New Year!

milkicow, what a name
pro player from ... Poland I think. folks like Lowko/Harstem sometimes cast his games
Yo uthermal🔥 can u make a video to of keyboard tricks and tips???
Got a idea for a new challenge stealth only. ghost, mine and banshee.
Great matches thermie
Got a notification for this video. Instantly clicked and instantly liked =)
milkycow said nn. at the end og the game instead of gg
what does nn mean?
Hey I really wanna see this as a challenge: pacifist to grandmaster. You never attack them, just defend their attacks until they give up
If I played against uThermal and he built a cyclone I would be 100% confident I was playing against mass cyclone/ widow mines
I think when you get to players like HeroMarine then the challenge rules go out the window. Just select what you believe to have the best chance of winning. It would be cool to see you take out one of these pros with a weird strategy, doesn't matter which one you choose.

I would like to see Marc play an ESL with no handicap.
Big Gabe doing Big gabe stuff. 😆
hi, you should hide 2 starports out of possible scan. Cheers. Good staff
Would be fun to just watch you try to win the tournament, with zero rules.
I'm sure this would be very boring for Marc, especially as a pro who is no longer interested in professional-level play. But I also would enjoy this very much.

tu déchire mec. t'es mon joueur préféré
Fantastic! Could we get some build tutorials for each race? :)
He already has a lot of these for Terran
Let's go!
What if you just pick one challenge and then play the tournament. If you win, you change the challenge. If you lose, you do a different challenge.
can we get 5k more in a week to make it 75k? thermy content is god tier
Must likable sc2 player
I’m just saying, you can fit 4 Vikings in a medivac
i havent seen heromarine in ages
U know someone is good when they know a few builders down make you lose a game. Haha
What an awesome player! It’s worrisome how bad I am. :)
I’m sad how bad I am lol 2:14
Can you do a big boys challenge! Marauders, thors to GM?!
I do love these dice roll ESL challenges, but call me crazy, I'm curious how well you'd do against someone like HeroMarine if you just played normal. So doing the challenges until you get to the end of the bracket and then just play normal sounds cool to see.
You are the best kind of nerd😀😀
There is no way I should ever see these 58k players in my que when I am bronze league... an yet... gotta luv Battlenet.
Wait. He repear rushed and you didn't go out looking for his barracks to try to kill them?
What about a super scouter challenge, you can’t build units other than scvs unless it’s a reaction to units or buildings your opponent makes, so no pre made plans or builds only reactions to what the other player does so we can see you kinda fly by the seat of your pants lol
And maybe you could do it playing random that would also make it fun
Let's go
Yo marc, what do you think?
You can only have 8 supply worth of barracks units instead of small amount for your challenges
you should choose your challenge against the top pro. it is more exciting to watch .
penguin brothers please
Silly goose to grandmaster, anyone?
пп are gg keys, he actually forgot to change language
HeroMarine is so scary
your titles makes me think i have alredy watched the video before.
pretty sure i have seen atleast 4 videos with very similar 400$ title that i thought i saw before but i triple checked the release date so it had to be new or reupload
The rng build selection is a silly goose, choose the best build and don't use the same build twice
That would be viable and entertaining
go thermy
Cyclone banshee pls
You should play like a pro next week as you have been playing nothing but challenges that way your opponent doesn’t know what to expect for the following
When are you going to play these tournaments normal and try to win the money? I would rather watch that. 👍🏻
Everyone plays Terran. Terran op race?
пп ? I guess Milkcow has a Russian Keyboard
proxy reaper to gm
Sir, tulong ka lang parati sa ginagawa mo. Salamat sa mga binabahi mong paraan para manalo sa laro.
Stop rolling challenges. Pick a great challenge vs your opponent and do not follow strict rules but follow the theme of the challenge. I want to see you start winning ESL.
first
Big love Thermy
you should play standard if you have a pro gamer. kinda sucks watching you play these challenges versus someone like hero marine
I watched the Heromarine games looks like you lost both games intentionally.
Playing a pre-determined strategy against an opponent who can build anything is always a handicap.
First?
i DARE you to e-bay block a pro >:)
