I’m 70. I’ve played everything from 60’s pop rock ( it sucked but was easy to cut your teeth on) to old country, hard rock and bluegrass. But rockabilly was always my favorites because it was the creation of a new genre of music. Brian and the Cats certainly personify what rockabilly was all about along with their own original classics. Mark Winchester is unbelievable. My name is Don Bernier and I approve this message.

He's so absurdly great. I've been playing guitar as a hobby for decades, and I couldn't develope technique like Setzer's even if I spent every waking hour working at it for the rest of my life. What he does is absurdly difficult. He plays completely clean - he uses pretty much no effects whatsoever, and while effects won't make a bad player good, they can really go a long way toward helping fill out the sound a guitarist produces, so it's just harder to sound good without any at all. And he's carrying the band. His rhythm section is as minimalist as can be. He's simply amazing.
@@SuperCrackerjacks I guess he uses overdrive and distortion here and there, yeah. I’m actually not intimately familiar with his playing - saw him live about 20 years ago and I bought a few of his records but haven’t paid attention more recently...
Brian has certainly shown himself to be a great solo act and along with his orchestra....but there's something extra special whenever he gets together with Lee And Slim Jim.......

These three are so good. These songs are so easy on a fundamental level, to the point a novice player could do a simple strumming of the chords in the song and totally do it fine. The difficulty is the nuance they all have, the monumental skill level and complete mastery of their instrument. As a trio, The Stray Cats were a super group from day 1. Such mastery, it blows me away.
I saw Slim Jim's drum solo during the band introductions in "Rock This Town". Not gonna lie though, thats exactly the reason I describe him as the "wild card" of the group.
Mr Brian Setzer on the guitar, as fast as lightening. Had he made his name in heavy rock, they'd be comparing him to Hendrix and Clapton. He really is that good. The crazy thing is that he can sing while playing complicated lead guitar.
That Year 89 was the first Time I saw the Cats in Düsseldorf. I remember the Opener. It was Mystery Train like here. The Cats blew me away with this Sound. Raw Power.
Slim Jim Phamton on Drums Lee Black Cat Rocker on Slap Bass And last but certainly not least Mr Brian Stretser on Lead Guitar and vocals Saw these guys live in 1981 Swansea Top Rank
Sometimes, Brian sounds like Dave Edmunds......sometimes Buddy Holly. Wish they both were on-stage with these genuine, musicians...../ o well...thanks Brian, and gang.
No matter what the song hes just jamming having fun drifiting off and back against the great rhythm section. Best 3 band you can wish for sounds like a much bigger band
Today´s music industry only recognize comercial artists or some others that only last a few months in the music world. Is a very big shame. Brian Setzer and The Stray Cats deserve to be inducted in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It's wild that the Stray Cats drummer ended up in rockabilly band lead by Lemmy from Motorhead. They were called The Head Cat, made one album, and it's pretty good.

They don’t play shows like this any more. In the rare occasions they get together, their set list is half as long, and they’ve been playing the same songs for years. Brian Setzer is more focused on his solo career now.
My only gripe is the cameras kept switching SO much. I love this era of BS’ playing - it felt like he took more risks in his solos. He’s a way better guitar player today but needs to let the dog off the chain a little more in how gritty his playing can get.
Excellent performance by the Cats, but it seems like their were some problems with the house sound. I could not hear the banjo at all. Also the lighting seemed a but odd. Not a god performance by the house guys...
Brian Setzer in 2022 still plays circles around most others out there with that certain talent/class that you just cannot buy!!
Very very very true that comment the Coolest Cat ever

he was born to play guitar and we're lucky to have a chance to see him do that
sometimes not clean but cool, dirty, messy and awesome. Too clean is boring.

Perfectly succinct
J'ai encore des frissons toute mon enfance un de mes meilleurs groupes de rockabilly .
The best rock a billy band in the world
I agree with a comment below. When someone mentions great guitarists they never mention Brian Setzer yet he is right up there with the best of them.
He is the best of them
shady grove on a banjo...this guy could play a trash can lid strung with dental floss and tear the house down!
I saw Slim Jim's drum solo during the band introductions in "Rock This Town". Not gonna lie though, thats exactly the reason I describe him as the "wild card" of the group.
The stray cats Is the best rock a billy band in the world
They are the best of Real rock'n'roll today. There is no one more. Great group ans thanks for rock'n'roll memory 👍👍👍😎
Most underrated guitarist in the world
No Hall of Fame...
Should be in a long time ago...
He has skills...love that old fashioned style sound...
Back to the Future...lol
one of 'em for sure!!
No Rock ' n Roll hall of fame? That's because of politics! 👎
@@nickflores1907 , the "Summertime Blues" part got me dancing. During 22:50, I saw Slim Jim with the "I don't know" face, completely hilarious.

GREAT stuff!!! Looks like they really dazzled their French audiences!!
Setzer is an absolute monster player.
I play a Gretsch coz of Brian's influence so no argument about his guitar ability, but it almost overides what a great vocalist he is.
