I also show you how to use MC5 rapid cleaner and MC1 protector from Adey to ensure your system stays clean. This is often a preferred method to power flushing as we don't pressurise the heating system pipes.

mate I'm in the process of getting quotes to my old familys home, currently we have a open vent pre-condensing installed there, with 12 rads the system is clogged bady on the ground floor, as it hasn't been serviced for over 15 years when I was last there, since the boiler is also being swapped I wanted to get some advice, two people have called in for a quote, have said only do a chemical treatment, not power flush., as far as i am aware a chemical treatment two weeks before won't help remove the sludge. that's causing the issues, so would you recommend a full power flush as well before installation? or is it a requirement to do a powerflush with new installs ?
This is why I became an apprentice plumber love showing customers the benefits of flushing a system, my boss has a power flush so it’s interesting to see how effective the magnacleanse is without the pump used on a power flush! Great vids man!
I am currently renovating a House in North Yorkshire that's been empty and the heating system has been shut down for over 18 months. Mate I have been watching your videos since the start. I’ve followed all your tips and advice. You inspired me to become a qualified plumber. I’ve now done all my courses and set up a business. I’ve been eyeing those manga cleanses but having recently started out its cost me a fortune getting a van, tools and many other things etc so I just can’t afford one yet. I know to win one of those would be amazing and would give me another string to my bow being able to clean systems where currently I have to recommend other companies meaning I lose the job, a potential new customer and money which I could really do right now.

You normally only get to do powerflushes when you change a boiler... never heard of anyone making a living out of power flushing alone
Jeremy western that’s not true. People get powerflushes when they fit a manga clean or other magnetic prevention device or they ask for one when they get multiple cold spots in rads due to years of untouched system water. There’s no rule that says boiler should be changed as well.
Hi James I'm a mature apprentice that as qualified in April now I've started out on my own plumbing n heating business brave step to do, I was fed up rushing and doing half jobs which was against my grain in how to do a proper job so I decided to take the plunge and start out on my own as Dhm plumbing & heating and it's been 2 weeks so far.. so expensive starting out so much costs before making any coin.then it's trying to find the jobs, scary. I've advance my learning ability from watching your videos. It's been a long and hard 4 years as apprentice especially when your wife is the many bread winner and all your mates are going on holiday and buying nice things while I'm watching my pounds n budgeting my life style for this plumbing qualification. It got to point that I was going to give up but I never. But I did this so I could have a future and a career and was fed up seeing cowboys ripping people off and as time moves on more plastic and less traditional methods of a plumbers skills with copper and benders. In my new plumbing business I'll always keep the traditional way with some brasso. My life has been on hold! I'm sure you can understand. I've bought most of my tools from eBay and secondhand during my time as apprentice.
I have the magnaclean demo jar that I use to show customers buy having a filter fitted thus is how it works but my having something like a magnacleanse would be a even better part of my toolkit and for my future clients and good for my business. I would even pay for the postage!
I got a 2003 berlingo van but I've had to spend £800 on it so far🙁🙁🙁, now it's in the garage for a new ignition switch which means more costs. My first week running my own business first job service oil boiler I sliced my thumb by losing the grib from removing the heat exchanger bolts and slipped and hit against the metal casing I could see bone and blood was gasping everywhere nightmare, i was off for first week no earning gutted.so I made use and went round and posted business cards through doors and spoke to customers. Thumb healed but I can't fully give thumbs up on my right hand. at least I'll always remember my first job. Lucky I'm booked in next week to go back and finish off there boiler service.

Depends on how bad the system is.
Most manufacturers do like us to use a powerflsh, as the pump on the boiler (combi or system) does all the work and sends all debris through the new boiler.
As long as its being cleaned can't see a prob.
I like all your plumberparts videos it has helped me alot with common plumbing issues and to gain more knowledge about what manufacturers can offer.

I could have really done with this the other day. 18 year old boiler, 13 rads, no magnacleanse, no nothing. The last rad on the system, was pretty much a mould for sludge. So it was easier to put the rad out, take it outside and TRY to clean it with the customers pressure washer, but that shit wasn't going anywhere. Basically they ended up with 2 new rads and a magnaclean and a plumber that just wanted to get home, have a beer and watch the footie while the Mrs stares at me with those, "I'm getting a back massage tonight until you hands bleed" look.

I love the magnacleanse unit, as like you, I also have a power flush which is great for system that are really blocked, however, most of the time these do just as good of a job but not putting the systems under any pointless stress.
I'm currently doing one myself as I type.
The only thing I would say though, is it's best to valve and cap the F+E tank, an connect a water main to the unit one end, and drain hose to the drain off, that way, you can ensure that the fresh water makes it's way fully around every radiator.

Another great video! I really really really want & need this MagnaCleanse! I left the marines after 10 years and have spent the last 18 months transitioning into civvi life. I worked for a plumber for 6 months whilst putting myself through Gas safe & Hetas tickets. Then went at it alone to try & push my capabilities on, it's been a steep learning curve and I'm still learning everyday. The MagnaCleanse is what all the plumbers, I consider, the most professional & knowledgeable use and at the moment I have nothing to mechanically clean a system out because as you know there is an endless list of things to buy being a plumber and I am constantly Harry Von skint batts! I just qualified and started myself as a Gas engineer in April there really enjoying it. I have seen a couple of videos on these now really do look the business for cleaning out the system. This would really come in handy for me heading into my first Winter working later this year with all the chaos and nonstop work that comes along with it! Also having to go try hire a powerflush machine at the moment isn't ideal when someone else has it 😑 Thanks again and keep up the good work!

As a Gas Engineer, I diagnose many faults with Boilers, but most of all, I always come across systems that are always sludged up. I mostly just flush out Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchangers, and recommend a mate to other customers who need a full Power Flush, but I would like to get into Full Power Flushing myself. I used to train with a Plumber many years ago, who showed me the Power Flushing side, and considering the amount of systems I come across which are clogged, I’d rather do this as well. We've had a few problem with our heating and I've followed your remove a radiator and clean it video a few times to try and help the system, which it has. Hi I'm researching about radiators this looks like such a gr8 system. Radiators are still pretty new here in NZ, very expensive to have installed. UK people that come here are amazed at the expensive houses with no heating systems! 😂

I’ve had issues with my 100 year old Chicago boiler system since we moved in in 2017. We’ve even replaced the boiler twice!
I’m sold that this is the solution. My current NTI boiler keeps shutting off in the middle of the night and I have to reset it and bring the pressure back up for it to start again. When it does, it comes up to temp so slowly.
I’ve seen the sludge in it last visit and I’m convinced it’s never been cleaned in 100 years.
I don’t know why companies in the USA don’t install these everywhere in Chicago.

The toilet flush made me laugh 😂 I curse the previous owner of my house whenever I have to do any jobs. Some of his DIY bodge jobs are just shocking
After passing off many big cleaning jobs to my mate with his own flushing machine I think a Magnacleanse will allow me to undertake a few on my own.

Another great video James, I am always being asked by customers if I can clean their system after they have watched me removing a rad and having a bucket full of black sludge. My answer is always no and I pass them on to someone who can. If I was to win it would give me the opportunity to answer yes.

Nice job. Regularly use this but I I have found the reverse flush on other flushing machines can clear crap especially on microbore systems

Our ceneral heating tank in the loft is disgusting! It's crying out for a deep clean! Would love to save my dad some money, keep my family warm this winter, and learn a lot more in the proccess! I love learning how to fix something instead of paying someone else (and not learning) whereever possible.

I've never had to come back to cleanse a system that has the filter on the system. It's usually good enough if it's kept clean, John plumber. Ireland

I’ve recently purchased a Magnacleanse, treated my 20 rad system and running the cleanse for a few days. I have an SDS drill and will agitate my rads too
3 question please -
(1) should I open the lock shield when agitating the rad to allow best flow and removal of magnetite?
(2) should I also isolate the rad in my hall where the thermostat is? (Lockshields only, no TRVs) so I only have one rad open at a time
(3) finally, should I reduce the output of my boiler when only one rad is open? It’s a 10 yr old BAXI SOLO 30 HE. Not sure if it modulates output

That is an awesome bit of equipment, so much easier than setting up a powerflush machine and the peace of mind that you get from it, not worrying if it's going to overflow or burst the pipes makes it even more impressive.

Yes but it is nowhere near as effective as a proper Powerflush machine, nowhere near.
I haven't had the privilege of using this for my customers as you ain't fortunate enough to get hold of one but I want to provide them the satisfaction that all there system are nice and clean and what a difference this BEAST can do.

Hi there great video. Bit of advice please. My combi boiler system is sludged up and needs cleaning but worried about powerflushing due to it causing a pin hole somewhere. Is this Adey system a good alternatibe? Thanks in advance
Handy little video. I’ve been thinking about getting one of these for ages, but I’m too tight! You did the final flush how I would, and how every other sane plumber I know would, by just using the f&e head. I think when these first came out Adey were saying to make a temp connection in the loft between the ball valve and the cold feed and flush under mains pressure. Sod that! That’s a recipe for disaster. Anyway I’ve got a combi swop to do in about three weeks and seeing this video I’ve decided now I’m gonna buy the magnacleanse. I’d love to get a free one obviously but to be honest I think you should pick a couple of guys who have just completed their apprenticeships. We all know quality tools are a massive expense when first starting out and this would do someone a right turn. Just get adey to post mine to me directly, with the amount I’ve spent on filters and chemicals over the years if they did a points scheme I’d have about ten of these by now!
And did I spy the oil hose outside of the case on that vortex? Tut tut. 😀

Great video James and what a piece of kit that is, seems a lot more stress free than the power flush waiting for the inevitable joint to crack. As I'm taking the leap of faith into being self employed in September this would be a massive plus for the back of the van and even if I didn't win i reckon it's high up there on my purchase list.

Remember it is good practice to put the waste hose water in the sewer rather than rainwater drain. Possibly it's a combined waste water drain! Keep the rivers clear of the chemicals. Good explanation.
The stage where you add the inhibitor after the flush is missing? Is mentioned as being done, but that section was not covered?

Hi been watching loads of your vids and they inspired me to have a crack at a few things in plumbing so with magnaclean i could try to clean our system as well one more tick to the "i've done it myself" (and it didnt go wrong) list
Fully gas qualified for a year now and would like to go self employed but the cost of tools/insurance/van holding me back. Any chance to get myself tools for free is I'll be jumping at it!! Used the MagnaCleanse before at work and is a must if you're wanting to give the systems a longer life
So, magna clean on the system....so, you turn up with a double magna clean to clean out the system, hmm, I am a little dated in yesteryear, where no system had any filters, but they ran for decades without issues. I do greatly enjoy your videos. Peace brother.

Hi Plumberparts you do some great video's and I'm especially interested in this one because are radiators have had problems ever since we move in about 9 years ago I think it couldn't save us a lot of money having a done and I think you will get twice or three times as more sludge out of our radiators then the one on the video when we come to turn on the radiators in the winter I have to go round with a hammer to get all the valves working again properly.

Hi James, a little off piste - the flow and return pipework diagram show for the equivalent F&E system would be appreciated but my boiler is wall mounted in the kitchen close to the ceiling so where can I fit the proposed magna clean filter on the return side in the airing cupboard with the hot water cylinder 22mm pipework..? Thank you.

Hi James, I’m a qualified plumber and I’m out of my time two years, I’ve been doing a lot of my own work recently and I’m looking into buying a magnacleanse system but how would you connect it up to a system that does not have a magnaclean installed? I know the first answer is to install one but what do you do if the home owner does not want one installed, where and how do I connect it?
Great explanation on how to use the kit. I’d love it to clean my system as there isn’t room to install a permanent Magnacleanse and with the horrible microbore in the walls I don’t trust a power clean.

Sorry one more thing, can this power flush be used on UFH ? UFH have a separate pump...is this making any difference?
I wonder if you pump in reverse direction you damage the heater pump or the thermostatic radiator valves
