  • This is just a short update on the Kenda Ibex tire on my 300 xcw. I have been getting feedback on peoples lugs coming apart and wanted to show mine.

I'm convinced Tubliss at lower pressures puts more of the carcass to work. Better traction, less spinning, subsequently less damage to the lugs.

I 100% agree with you! Couldn't have said it better.

@@EnduroAmerica Have considered trying the Ibex after the Shinko 505 and 525. Wanting to try the VE33s Gekkota but seem kind of hard to get ahold of currently. Main concern with the Ibex is faster cornering. Play rides like the gummier tires but for hare scrambles sometimes wish I had a more traditional knobby. Usually end up going up in pressures in this case. (Tubliss)

Thanks for the update.. I just got a ibex and was wondering what air pressure others run with tubliss ..

@@stanleykania7184 heavier rider 220+ I'd say around 9 to 10psi under under 220 probably 5 to 7. Of course there are many different variables such as terrain and speed etc... I ride Rocky areas that are typically slower and weigh 205 and run at 5psi. Do some testing to see what feels good for you. Have some fun out there and ride safe!

I ran the Ibex earlier this year on my '18 KTM 300xc. It run single track/sand/rocky and root type stuff and lately a lot of mud here in Oklahoma. I weigh about 225 and run the rear at 12-13 psi. I got less than15 hrs before I started noticing stress cracks on bottom of knobs, never chuncked any of them off.I probally could have ridden 10 hrs or so, but I love running new tires. I bought some Shinko R525 cheater hybrid tires and have been running them on my 2 sets of rims with different gearing. They were a little cheaper in price and have lasted longer than my Kenda's did. I got about 20 hrs on one now and looks really good, no stress cracks . I'm sticking with these for the time being, I also ran the Goldentyre's and Shinko is just as good but a lot cheaper in price

Awesome! Thanks for the comment! You need to put tubliss in your rear. That Ibex really comes alive around 5psi. Definitely a noticeable difference. Happy new year!

It's a great tire. I have been running one on my 2013 husqvarna wr125 for about six months. I am 150 pounds and I run about 10 psi in the tire. The tire hooks up extremely well here in east Tennessee.

Thanks for the comment and information! Those WR's are such cool bikes! Glad you like the tire!

I ran one at a hare scramble in Wa that had a lot of pavement sections. I’m 190 and it was on a YZ450fx. The knobs didn’t chunk but the center of tire was nearly bald at the end of 3 hours.

That sounds pretty reasonable for hard riding, especially on pavement, with such a soft compound.

Alright so here's my theory (225lbs 2017KTM 300XC, PNW riding, tubliss at 3-4.5psi). My first ibex got cracks at the base of the knobs after first ride (120 version). Subsequent 2 ibex's lasted much longer. I believe there are differences in the dirability in rubber compound, and there's no way you can account for that. Literally the variance in the ibex (and other tires I've tried) can make a tire tripple it's lifespan and there is no way to know until you start using it.
On another note, the motoz extreme hybrid is the best tire I've ever ran. Check it out since it seems your riding style fits that kinda tire!

      Thanks for your input!
I know this "variance" that you speak of and saw it first hand on the MT43's that I used to run. Luckily I haven't seen (or at least haven't noticed) any great differences in the Ibex tires that I have had here. I currently have two on my tire rack and one of them is going to be on the 300 shortly. Ill report back if there are issues with that one.

Thanks for the video! I have a question though! I noticed you are running the 120/100 rather than the 110/100.. is there a reason for that ? Do you prefer the 120 for a specific reason? I’m just wondering cause I’m ordering the Kenda ibex for my 17 KTM 300xc and can’t decide which direction to go .. can you give some input on this? Thanks!!

    • @EnduroAmerica
      @EnduroAmerica  5 років тому +1

Thanks for the comment! The 300xc will handle the 120 perfectly. More width and lower pressures with tubliss = better traction in most situations. Other than that no particular reason.

Enduro America . Reason enough for me. Looks like I’ll be ordering the 120 as well! Thanks for the input my friend. Looking forward to future videos! Be safe!

I've seen some rocks that can slice just about anything .

Same here. Rode a volcano once and it ate through a tire in 1 ride. Lava rock is about as bad as it gets for tires.
