Work out your own salvation people. If it offends your brother or sister in Christ don’t drink in front of them. If it causes your brother or sister to stumble don’t drink in front of them, if it causes you to have a guilty conscience don’t drink. However drunkeness is the sin, not drinking. The same way gluttony is a sin not eating. If eating can lead to sin maybe we should not eat? Do we find pleasure, comfort, joy, relaxation in eating? Yes however I will not follow man’s law or places barriers because of heard mentality. If it consumes your life then deal with it accordingly. Just my two cents. The Bible does not condemn drinking, it condemns those who have no discipline when drinking. That is the difference.

I grew up under a pastor that said, if it takes ten beers to make you drunk, and you drink one beer, your one tenth of a drunk! Now that being said, my question is, how can someone sit at a bar and drink alcohol and witness to the lost?

We are to be an example to our children! Then younger generations look up to the older generations - What direction Do They Have to learn from IF everyone is Drunk - And if statistics show that Alcohol is the main cause of the biggest majority of fatality’s
Then this should speak for itself about alcohol!
If God is love, and Jesus came to be our example of what is expected from Christian’s by everything that Jesus has taught, and lived up to himself, in Being our example
And the only area that mankind is focusing on to try and use to justify their Alcohol habits
is if Jesus Drunk Alcoholic wine
      Or “Grape -Juice”
Look at the health benefits of what grape juice has for the body & the mind -etc-
      God ‘IS NOT’ Satan !
If You honestly think that God wants mankind to Sin- And Not Turn To Him for All Our Needs To Be Met..
Then You have No idea who Jesus really is
“ GOD in US” as GOD was in Jesus Christ
Helping Jesus Over-Come this Fallen World,- And So, it’s exactly the same for Gods chosen True Christian’s - “We Don’t Need a Crutch” but only The Power that God Promised All Mankind - If they’d turn to him, and Actually Ask God for
      The Holy SPIRIT
Then You’d realise You Don’t Need alcohol
To give you the same effects - because God through the Holy Spirit does this for you constantly on a continual basis for free!
      If Jesus drank Alcohol
Then He’d be no different then the world.
Jesus taught us of A New and Living way within turning from our old Nature,(the fleshly-man) -to walking within the New man-
      (The SPIRIT )
If Jesus Associated with alcoholic beverages-
      He couldn’t be
      He wouldn’t be
Because if Jesus drank Alcohol it would not be possible for him to be our true king And saviour..
he would therefore be a hypocrite - against everything that is of God that is recorded in scripture -
-Jesus‘s Testimony of who God is and How we as Christian’s are to resemble.. in walking in like manner as Christ did -
Our fallen state within our Flesh, “Doesn’t and Can’t”
      Meet Gods Standards
To be Justified before a Holy and Righteous God…
This is why Jesus was Sent to earth - And Why He Died for All mankind, for The SIN that WE All are subsequently born into,- A World Full of Sin because of the original Fall in the beginning,- that Brought about SIN
Realistically think about what alcohol does to the human body - “Research it”
Is this what God/Jesus Really wants for his creation… ???
“God is NOT the Author of Confusion, He doesn’t lead us into Sin, causing Us to Stumble” !!
      “Man does this”
IS This The God You Serve - A Foolish Alcoholic hypocrite ..
(No, this is the Nature of mankind, trying to lower God to man’s level to Justify Themselves).
They Don’t know, nor Care to consider who in fact ‘Jesus is, And represented
What does alcohol do to our minds perception - when being drunk
      Our actions -
      Our thoughts -
      Jesus said learn of me
He said For my Yoke is Easy,- My Burden is Light….
Alcohol isn’t the Answer - it Never was.
Because Jesus himself stated that he was …
      And
      He also stated
“Will He find the FAITH When HE Returns” ??
So yes Jesus Christ will return - and Alcohol and All things that keep people within a state of Bondage subjected unto Sin
Will Be Burnt Up, and Done away with ..
      Because Gods promised Paradise
      (heaven)
      HIS kingdom to Come
Won’t Have SIN,or Pain, Sickness, or suffering - Because
God didn’t promote Bondage upon mankind via Alcohol
Or via other man made substances that cause this effect upon the Long haul, state continuing within Sin
God through Jesus Christ promises Us
Eternal life - and a way of escape from Death
      Through -Jesus Christ.

@mr skipdiggidy it isn't foolish at all. It's Biblical. Psalm 104 lists the gifts God has given to man, and among them is "wine that makes glad the hearts of man" (Psalm 104: 15). Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, telling them that "John the Baptist came drinking no wine and eating no bread and you said he had a demon. I come eating and drinking and you call me a glutton and a drunkard" (Luke 7:33-34). By Christ's own admission He drank alcohol, and publicly at that. Jesus turned water into wine after the people at the party "had well drunk," so after they were inebriated already Jesus gave them more wine. Would Jesus have supported something that was sinful? The Bible forbids drunkenness, or alcoholism, but it clearly not only allows for responsible alcohol consumption, it encourages it and calls it a gift from God. So again, maybe you should actually READ the Bible before trying to tell people what's in it

I've had many discussions with Christians who want to defend their belief that it's okay to occasionally drink alcoholic beverages. Habakkuk 2:15 says, "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor..." If it's bad to bring alcohol to your neighbor's lips, what about your own?

Perhaps you should complete the scripture so it has context and not just take a part to justify belief: "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies!" This is not condemnation of alcoholic beverages."
Ecclesiastes 9:7 "Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do"
Psalm 104:14-15: "You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth and wine to gladden the heart of man"
Amos 9:15: "I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and hthey shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit."

Those who go in search of mixed wine.
Do not look on the wine when it is red,
When it sparkles in the cup,
      When it swirls around smoothly;
At the last it bites like a serpent,
      And stings like a viper.
Your eyes will see strange things,

Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea,

@@brianmears3388 I think it's pretty clear in that verse that the person went way, way beyond having a drink or two :-) A clear warning against getting blasted, but not against drinking itself. One other thing I just thought of is that, like over eating, for those of us who do like to have a drink or two, it's a good idea to fast from it on a regular basis for several days/ weeks, so it doesn't become a stumbling block. The same could be said for eating our favorite foods which can lead to obesity and not taking care of our bodies.

This may seem like a hard line to some, but in my opinion, Mac is "right on" here. Seek your life and peace from living your life as the Lord would have it. Talk to him - especially when you are facing all the challenges of life. I don't HEAR him with a voice, but I always get my answer. He tells me what to do - the only question is whether I'm going to follow it. If you aren't relaxing enough, seek your answer from the Lord. You will know with time - if not immediately.
If we want to have the best life possible, we need to surrender our will to Him. This will result in the best life you can have for what has been given to you. Take it easy, don't expect to have it all now. Be patient for improvements in your life and be grateful for the goodness that you have been given. We should be so grateful for what we have in the US - look around and see the tens of thousands who walk hundreds of miles trying to start a new life as they have nothing from where they are leaving!! Not only here in the US, but also those who flee to Europe from the Middle East. For those of you who live in the US, be grateful for your good fortune. A police state exists in many countries in the world. I've always thought that Gratitude is huge in recovery - it is something to meditate on EVERY day!
Turn your life over to Him. Ask only for the knowledge of His will for you and the power to carry that out (great basic AA). I've been sober for over 35 years now and like to hear the straight truth on this issue. If someone in your life does not respect your decision not to drink or use drugs, get them out of your life! The quality of your life and your relationship with your God depends on it. You don't need to fight that battle with the enemy.
Thanks to those who see the truth and speak it.

I always find this topic interesting around believers. Regarding this topic, if you are a follower of Christ, depending on your Spiritual Maturity, drinking should not be looked down on, only if you are not sinning according to what the Word says is sinful as Galatians 5:19-21. When a follower of Christ keeps in step with the Spirit, they will have understanding from the Spirit when a correct time to have a drink of wine (or other). Yes, Jesus did have wine however the bible doesn't say how often. If we see that Jesus was quite hands on with ministry, and traveled a good distances, perhaps wine was the best option or to see that wine was a custom habit for Jewish community. I would encourage any pastor to have a more patient, loving and understanding approach towards this topic. If this topic isn't best for you to have, allow your circle of community to chime in to ensure addressing it is done correctly and encouraging for the body of Christ.

Before and after sacrifice of Jesus getting drunk was prohibited. In the old testament God gives recommendations for a fiest and the menu and it includes wine and strong drink whatever that was. When he was born here his first miracle was to make wine for weddings. I don't really follow your thinking here. Clearly Jesus didn't mind people drinking. Surely he wouldn't have produced anything against his father's will.
Getting drunk is prohibited and warnings of alcohol are more numerous than verses telling it is a blessing. How does the commandment of not to get drunk differ in new testament from that in the old testament.

    • @ReasonAboveEverything

@Rise and Walk Church Sydney I appreciate your response.
Wine Jesus made got fantastic reviews for the party crowd. I am sure had Jesus offered them grape juice response would have been very much negative. It was alcohol contained drink.
On the cross Jesus was offered cheap wine. Why didn't he drink it if he was happy to make it and drink it on his last supper. It is in my opinion one of the greatest details in the whole story. If you drink your endorphin levels go up and pain won't feel as bad. Jesus in my opinion refused to drink because his had to feel all the pain and suffering 100% clear. "Give wine to those who are perishing" because it makes dying easier.
There is a point where when one drinks you only feel little elevated but your mind still runs well and moral decisions are zero problem. I would argue this is what bible talks about when it says wine makes man's heart glad but doesn't include it under definition of being drunk. Usually that is the amount of beer or wine you would normally consume with a dinner. It probably adds nothing to spiritual life I agree, but neither does it take anything away that is if you don't get drunk. It's like eating candy which I don't do. I dislike synthetic flavors. It gives nothing and takes away nothing.
I could drink a glass of wine in church but I would never go further than slight warmth but I don't go to church. Never have. Then again when I pray I want no distractions. No eating. No drinking. I very much like to cover my eyes when I talk to him. I don't want things I receive to be from me but from him.

Peter Larson the best anti-depressant comes from prayer. Asking God to give you the strength to fight these demons that bring these sorrows. Drugs like antidepressants don't fix whats making you depressed nor do they help you overcome it. Anti-depressants only hides those feelings by putting a cloud in your mind. True peace and happiness comes from God and only God. When you learn to put faith it God you begin to see the positive side of things. Things that used to stress you out or make you depressed turn into blessings and positive changes in your life. Whenever something happens in your life that you don't understand, ask God to show you it's purpose. Sometimes things happen as a result of falling astray from the path you belong on. Without that "hardship" you might not have thought to make a change in the direction you were going. Everything has purpose and if you can't see the positive reason behind a situation in your life then pray and wait for it to become more clear. Never lose hope, God is stronger and greater than anything in this world. "Hardships" are what teaches us to put our trust in God. If life was always good we would never learn or see the blessings that come from prayer. God is love, hope, and the light in this world. If we don't look to God for these things, we will never find them.

Jesus did not turn that water into booze...there are two types wine in the bible. The fruit of the vine (the grape juice) which was also wine and fermented wine that causes drunkeness....why would Jesus turn water into an alcoholic feast? because he didn't. Proverbs 20:1 says wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging and later says to not even look at it. It takes just one sip to lead into drunkeness. Jesus does put his stamp of approval on what alcohol causes- Death, broken homes, anger, strife etc

The Christians most popular argument to defend Christian drinking is the old "Jesus turned water into wine" argument. The bible clearly teaches complete abstinence. You'll never have a chance of being drunk if you never take the first sip. I get sick of hearing that's it's fine for Christians to drink in moderation. It's highly addictive, just like smoking and gambling. It's hard to stop doing, once you start.

The word for wine that the Bible references is Oinous. It is from the Greek word meaning the fruit of the vine or grape juice. God never ever created alcohol wine. People that believe that he did create alcohol wine have created in their mind a god of their own imagination. God wants our faith in Him not alcohol. If you compare scripture with scritpure you will see the common sense on this particular subject. Alcohol can lead to destroying lives. God would never be a part of that.

I know drinking is not a sin, but what is it that we seek in alcohol?

But it’s not anyone’s place but the consumers and their relationship with God to decide wether or not it’s wrong. Everyone’s walk with Jesus is at different stages, so if God asks you to not partake because its leading you down a path, then you should honor that. But don’t compare yourself to others because of YOUR own walk with God and where he is leading you.

Why would anyone call him a drunkard if he wasn't drinking alcohol? It wouldn't make any sense. If indeed He wasn't drinking alcohol wouldn't he have clarified that? Additionally, if drinking alcohol was a sin, then when Jesus provided wine at the wedding then he caused numerous people to sin which is a sin. However, we are told that he lived a sinless life.

One of the problems with Christianity is that most sermons are either solely about the New Testament or are Joel Osteen style sermons that have very little to do with either the New or Old Testament. Most of Joel Osteen type sermons resemble improved Tony Robbins motivational type lectures on how to be successful in life or resemble get rich quick schemes.
Deuteronomy 4:2 basically says not to substitute Joel Osteen type material for the Old Testament as Joel Osteen type sermons support Christianity’s adulterous & idolatrous worship of idols, money & financial success.
The reason the Old Testament or Tanakh is so important is that the Old Testament is more or less a history book of the human race. And if you don’t learn from history, you are doomed to repeat the same mistakes you have made in the past. The main problem with the New Testament is that in terms of a history book, it only goes back to the time of JC. The New Testament just doesn’t cover a very long time period. The Old Testament goes back to creation of the universe and covers a much larger time frame.
The big question is about whether or not Christians should be worried in the least.
The answer is found in Isaiah 27:1 with the Leviathan representing Christianity. G - - always lives up to His promises. Of course, you would only know this fact if you have read the Old Testament. Another thing to consider if you are well read in the Tanakh is that the Levites lived on tithes in exchange for teaching G - -‘s word to the populace. Not long after the prophet Joshua died, the Levi group of priests much like Joel Osteen began teaching the populace more about what they felt the populace wanted to hear with the motivation largely being to get the biggest donations. Once Jews re-instituted idol worship & turned away from worshipping G - -, G - - had approximately 95% of the Jewish population massacred first by the Assyrian army and then by the Babylonian army. Only a small remnant of Jews survived. G - -‘s punishment for the Jews was considerably worse than what happened to Jews in World War II in terms of percentage of the population massacred. And G - - considered Jews His children. So if you think Christians will somehow escape G - -‘s wrath from idolatrous Joel Osteen type preaching, then think again as G - - doesn’t have the same type of relationship with Christians due to Christian worship of JC as their savior. Isaiah 27:1 will eventually prevail, and G - - will very likely not spare even a single Christian artery or vein.
Are there any other unforeseen problems created by Joel Osteen type preaching whereby very little Tanakh based scripture is taught during sermons? Yes. First Christians suffer immensely financially & socially from this type of Tanakh-free preaching. Just look at how many radio talk shows have popped up in major cities across the USA with the theme of “catching cheaters” in regards to adultery. Cheater themed talk shows are incredibly popular and are now major advertising revenue creators for radio talk shows as radio listeners love to hear about other peoples’ misery. Adultery, and divorce caused by adultery is absolutely rampant throughout America. The social costs are in the multiple billions in terms of children who now live with one parent or who now have to move back and forth between parents during the holidays. Poor quality, low Tanakh content Joel Osteen type Christian preaching also invariably leads to rampant antisemitism when divorced broken family angry Christians look at their happily married Jewish neighbors who tend to not only be happy in life but who also tend to have multiple happy and well adjusted children. And all this Christian divorce, misery & unhappiness could be so easily avoided if only Christians would realize that the only person cashing in on Tanakh-free sermons is possibly Joel Osteen and his family. Tanakh-free sermons create a situation much like the mega state lottery where there is only one 400 million dollar winner and everyone besides the winner loses the $3 they paid for the tickets. With Tanakh-free sermons, Joel Osteen is the main lottery winner.
Additionally, the Christian version of the Old Testament in the Christian Bible has been so severely altered to support Christianity’s love for idolatry and adultery, that the Christian version of the Old Testament is no longer even remotely usable. Go to Sefaria.org or Chabad.org to get an unaltered free online version. If you don’t believe adultery is a problem in the USA just contemplate the proliferation of morning radio show programs about catching cheaters.
Additionally, what does the Tanakh or history of the human race say about false prophets/ preachers who lead their sheep-like followers astray for massive financial gain? Well, it never, ever ends well. For example, mega-preacher Gwen Shamblin Lara who instead of teaching Tanakh based scripture, tried to get Christians to lose weight through nutrition. Gwen Shamblin Lara perished at a very young age in a plane crash along with her husband and 5 other church leaders. And the list of Christian-type total disasters goes on. The reason Gwen Lara Shamblin perished is that historically one of G - -‘s main weapons of destruction for His enemies is disease / pestilence. Obesity is a disease, and if G - - had allowed Gwen Lara Shamblin to continue living, she would have been in direct conflict with G - - in preventing Isaiah 27:1 from coming to fruition. Read last 2 paragraphs below to learn about G - -‘s other preferred weapons He sometimes uses on His enemies.
I know many people feel “saved” by JC, but there is a big difference between “feeling saved” and actually being “saved.” For example, you might feel totally saved & safe jumping off a plane 30,000 miles up because you “feel” you have the best parachute money can buy. However, if you forget to read and apply Tanakh to your life and cheat on your spouse, you won’t actually be safe if the parachute cord was cut by your spouse after discovering the affair. But, then it is too late once you’re headed downward at 110 miles per hour. You see, you don’t want to end up fulfilling Isaiah 27:1 with your own life.
If you’re interested in current events about the talk about the Gog Magog war starting, read Ezekiel 38:18-23. Isaiah 27:1 basically continues with Ezekiel 38:18-23 if you want to learn what happens when G-‘s anger flares up over army invasion of Israel’s soil. G - -‘s weapons of choice will be pestilence, bloodshed, torrential rain, hailstones & sulfurous fire, so that the world will know that G - - is both Lord and savior.
Judging from past holy wars, bloodshed is typically referring to as some type of psychological warfare on enemy army where enemy soldiers standing next to each other begin fighting each other in confusion.

“Temperance is, unfortunately, one of those words that has changed its meaning. It now usually means teetotalism. But in the days when the second Cardinal virtue was christened 'Temperance', it meant nothing of the sort. Temperance referred not specially to drink, but to all pleasures; and it meant not abstaining, but going the right length and no further. It is a mistake to think that Christians ought all to be teetotallers; ... Of course it may be the duty of a particular Christian, or of any Christian, at a particular time, to abstain from strong drink, either because he is the sort of man who cannot drink at all without drinking too much, or because he wants to give the money to the poor, or because he is with people who are inclined to drunkenness and must not encourage them by drinking himself. But the whole point is that he is abstaining, for a good reason, from something which he does not condemn and which he likes to see other people enjoying. One of the marks of a certain type of bad man is that he cannot give up a thing himself without wanting everyone else to give it up. That is not the Christian way. An individual Christian may see fit to give up all sorts of things for special reasons -- marriage or meat, or beer, or the cinema; but the moment he starts saying the things are bad in themselves, or looking down his nose at other people who do use them, he has taken the wrong turning.” -C. S. Lewis

Why risk eternity in Heaven with Christ for alcohol. As far as Timothy being told he could drink for medicinal purposes doesn't really apply today; we have grocery stores and pharmacies that sell all the medicine we need. Don't drink; you won't need to worry about drunk driving. Don't drink; you won't need to worry about becoming an alcoholic. Don't drink and you won't have to worry about drunkenness disqualifying you from eternity in Heaven. Also, it is obviously a bad witness.

Its drunkenness that is sin or drinking infront of the weak. So is drinking apple juice to relax sin too? Whats the difference. Such legalism. Slippery slope fallacy. hasty generalization fallacy. So when paul said drink some wine and it soothes or relaxes your stomach it is sin? You can drink 1 beer once in a while to relax in private and God will be your judge. Your imposing your opinion on what others should do. Its legalism. God is my judge not you. Stop it. Youre being judgemental.

For those struggling with this question there is a good book that addresses it called "Drinking With Calvin and Luther". IMO it's a little more relaxed about how far we can go than I would be, but maybe that's my Baptist upbringing :-) However, regardless of your position, it's a very good examination of many, many scriptures about alcohol, their context and what the original language actually says.

Calvin also was ok with the burning at the stake a fellow believer. I wouldn't base my life on his teaching.

Certainly is very acceptable in our country. Alcohol is in movies, TV at sporting events, heck you can even get a drink before seeing a movie. Very much a part of our society and culture. With that said it is a dangerous highly addictive drug that can ruin lives. I am not going to judge anyone as not my place.
I do find your comments interesting stating we need to find peace and relaxation in our Lord God.
I have a sister in law that is a Christian loves the Lord and is a good person. She suffers from severe anxiety and panic attacks. To the point she can’t function without medication, has terrible fears of Flying and traveling.
Shouldn’t she trust in the Lord, read the Bible and be cured of her issues?
Lots of questions and not sure of the answers.
    Scott

20 years ago someone bought a jet or two. A palatial estate with Mott. New cars, acres & acres of land. Someone had devoted followers spying on other churches, to find out where half the church went. Someone would pick people out of the sanctuary crowd and publicly mock them.

I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read
Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better.
And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊
Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄
I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏
    Amen.
I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊
    '' CREATOR, LORD GOD,
Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. ''
Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏
You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.
Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer:
"CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen"
Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 😊 try to do it everyday if you want
repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner"
You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to:
"Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen."
    Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
    Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can 🙏🙏
I apologize for all the words 🙏🙏😊 I know how it may look

It's not OK because 1. The story of Jesus changed the water into wine was a plagiary from the Greek myth. Bacchus the wine god did the same thing a thousand years before Christ. 2. Christmas is not written in the Bible. Nobody knew the exact date of Christ' birth date. It was the birthday of Mithra, the pagan savior was was born on 25 Dec.

It is alright to drink alcohol but a drunkard will not inherit the Kingdom of God and rule and reign with Jesus Christ for a thousand years. God will chastise a person until they are corrected of certain behavioral activities He wants eradicated from a believers life.
    Hebrews 12:6-11 KJVS
[6] For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? [8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. [9] Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us , and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? [10] For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. [11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

If the god of the bible had been portrayed as a king instead of a God, he would be remembered as the evilest, mass-murdering, tyrannical dictator of all time! Christians give the bible god a free pass because, they say, he is god the creator. I don't see the difference whether man or god. If his actions were evil or immoral, as the bible states, then he'd be just as guilty of being evil as any human committing the same deeds.
