This was so informative Bayo. Thank you. I have been wondering about opening a bank account in Nigeria just to have it there and build it up. I like the fact that I can have an account which has my funds stay in USD. That is so cool.
This is a very interesting video. can you do a recap on all things needed to get stated. 1, open a Naira account,2, bring utility Bill and passport and notarized letter of who you are and where you live, which can be notarized in your county. 3. finger print(where do do this in Nigeria) so that you can get the BVN. 4. get a BVN, 5. open the Domicillary account. 6. somewhere in here you need 2 people non family members to come with you to the bank to say they know you. 7, those two people have to have a naira account for at lest 6 month in any Nigerian Bank. 8. be sure to get Hard Token and create pin to be able to transfer funds internationally. 9. ask for internet and mobile access because sometime mobile access has issues. 10. to reactive a inactive account you can fill out one form and immediately you get your access back for accounts already set up and just needing access again. 11. YOU HAVE TO DO ALL THIS IN PERSON. NO ELECTRONIC FORMS TO FILL OUT AND SEND. give us a time frame from begining to end. people here in the US are staying it is taking a month to get the accounts open and are being ask for money to move the process along and that the bank employee is asking for money at times as well. also you cant even get a Barresta to open an account on your behave. please advise.
I’m familiar with most of the information discussed. My problem now is with new changes, before I could transfer USD into my naira account effortlessly, now they’ve made it impossible (I’d rather do that than having a domiciliary account 😏). Also, to transfer money into a domiciliary account from the U.S seems impossible too just because of the whole process, a bit of a headache..... I know it’s security reasons. Why’s the banker so scared of sharing his bank name? Aren’t bankers in Naija allowed to share information? Are these information secrets that he’s so over protecting the bank name?🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ just wondering why all of that. Naija wants diasporas to invest etc....But they’re telling us we have no say in the insecurities of the country, also CBN needs to make some changes or else people won’t be sending money like before. Thank you Bayo.
@TikkyShack I'm not a banker, I work in the airline industry and am not allowed to talk to external people about the company nor anything related to it including procedures : I need written authorization of our PR Department to even mention the name in public. I can loose my job if I don't respect that. I signed a document for that when hired. I guess it's similar for this banker.
Didn't the CBN pass a recent policy that you can't transfer $ to a third party dom account except your dom-to-dom account which defeats one of the advantage of the dom acct.
I am going to be in Nigeria in January, trying to find out I was in June and what do I need to do for a second visit, shots, have visa. You are great thank you

Nice one. Please I need Clarity on this. Just yesterday I sent 752 dollars to my friend's dom account through world remit. Because on the naira account card the limit is $100

from my understanding, you should be able to but you have to make sure you set it up that way with them when you sign up.
