I could see a place I knew! It was great to see some great footage of the interior and exterior of Cleeve Abbey, which, as I understand it, was founded in the 12th century as a home for Cistercian monks! And thank you for your detailed explanation as well.
Very nice. I visited in 2004 (without the cover over the tiles) and 2016 with the cover in place (and hopefully next year). Thanks for making me remember. Amazing how they kept using it.

Hi Alessa and Brett, a lovely entrance to the Abbey, loved the gate house archway. Loved your narration of the history. The abbey is very well maintained. The floor tiles very very interesting to see. The refectory was huge but like you say it was here that the monks met to eat their meals. The wooden ceiling is beautiful. Very well preserved. I think it is great that we can actually see where the monks used to sleep, too. Strange punishment for 'sins'. I wonder if the phrase 'you let them walk all over you' came from. I like that they looked after the retired servants, too. It's definitely a beautiful building, though. I love the amount of research you put into these vlogs and the way you tell the story of the building's history. Thanks for sharing.

It's still in amazing condition for its age and super that some of the old tiles still exist as well as some of the old wall paintings. Great to hear how the monks toiled and were sometimes put on bread n water for being naughty. The road cone looked a bit out of place. Some fabulous architecture on display. They don't make em like they used to. Thanks for showing me around along with your fabulous history narration on the place 🙂
Beautiful tour at the Cleve Abby. I loved when you peaked out the window and could see the archways and other areas of the Abby. I always thought the way they built places back then were so full of beauty and if you think how long they actually withstand years of the elements it still looks pretty amazing! I lived in Chard Somerset for 10 years, and would often travel around to see the old buildings, but somehow I’ve never even heard of this place. 🤷♂️ We have lots of family there and so this is definitely on the list of places I need to visit!
