That looks so cool! WPL really seems to be upping their game. thanks for sharing
Hell yeah they are.
Alberto, that's really impressive! Not to mention the outstanding weathering job!! 👍👍 WPL is improving greatly. I think they should include at least one extra Track... just in case.
Thanks! It came out great.
They have since came out with a metal track upgrade for it.
@@gabrielpichardo1492 Awesome!
@@gabrielpichardo1492 saw a video of one with the metal tracks climbing a smooth ramp easily. it seams there are small rubber strips on them .
Also I heard through the wpl grapevine they’re supposed to be coming out with metal track upgrade’s soon
Oh man I need those.
Not sure I'd call that an upgrade. Metal tracks running on plastic wheels tends to destroy the plastic pretty fast.
Hello 👋🏻! This GAZ 71 from WPL is really cool! I love the paint job for the aging! Awesome 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Great video 👍🏻
Thanks! I am really having a great time with it!
You should get the metal tracks for it. I just watched some videos about it. Get them ready made not disassembled. The run that RC video of it with the metal tracks on is proof. It was amazing.
I do have them. They sent me prototypes and I helped develop them. I did have to assemble the bastards....Works great and the added weight is amazing.
Very nice paint job is the first E1 I see that looks very realistic
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
Thank you so much! It came out great.
What a difference a little bit of weathering makes to this model.
It was so easy too!
Wow that is super cool, nice job on the weathering. Appreciate you sharing
Thanks so much!
I Need One !!! This thing is Awesome !!! Nice Job on the paint/Weathering too !!!!
Thanks Dan! It is an awesome....whatever the hell it is.
Great weathering job man! I always love your artistic skills with paint jobs. Some of the best on the internet! You got me excited to get my hands on one of these E1's. Aloha 😎🤙🏼
Thanks! You are way too kind!
Wow, kiddo’s getting big! I appreciate that my daughter shares (some) of my interest in the hobby as I’m sure you doo as well. Always look forward to your videos, Pintopower, hope to see you on TC soon.
They sure are! My daughter isnt "into" the RC cars but she humors me. What she loves is painting and model making so that is why she liked working on this so much! Yeah I do need to visit TC more....for a while there I was just fed up with certain people.
Lookin' forward to the KM version of this!! Great vid, great paint!
ME TOO!!!!!
Awesome paint job (weathering) as usual!
Well thank you so much!
I enjoyed the RC review. Thank you for your help before purchasing. It's a great video.
Thank you so much! It is a great vehicle.
It's really cool that you are showing your daughter how to set things up. I think most parents myself included will get something like this and tell their kids let me do all the setup and maybe I'll let you play with it afterwards. This will get her into the mindset of what is involved. Hopefully she will want to dig in deeper and try working on RC vehicles.
By the way this is a really cool vehicle, I love the weathering. Did you show her how to achieve the effects?
Shes been helping with rc's, big cars, the house....really anything...since she was a baby. I just want her to know that hands are also for making things. So we watch a few modeling and clay modeling channels. She wanted to try this out so I figured, what a better toy!
@@AMPROEngineering when my daughter was about 3 I was working under my car and looked over. She was wearing her nice clothes and crawling under the car with me. My wife had a fit.
I have an E1 on the way, and I as well can't wait for the truck and carrier trailer!
Man I hope that happens!
Excellent paint work, review, nice truck thanks for the thorough review 🙏😎☮️✝️ hopefully WPL will have some nice upgrades down the road
Oh man I didnt even think of upgrades! Metal tracks.....?
@@AMPROEngineering
😁😁😁😁😁😁
Outstanding job on the body!
Thank you so much! My daughter did most of the work, haha!
Nice weathering, turned out awesome!
Thanks so much. There is a lot of detail on this so it made it pretty easy.
@@AMPROEngineering nice! Will be getting mine today. Whenever it gets here 😄🤣😂
this assiting little hand was epic!
Hahah! It was very helpful!
So i never knew i wanted tracked vehicle, until now...Awesome weathering mate!
Same here....
great review. i love my WPL E1 (gaz-71) I made it waterproof and made it float
Nice! is it moving? Seems to just want to float and sit there. It would be amazing with propulsion.
@@AMPROEngineering other people said theres doesn't move in the water, but mine moves pretty good
Spot on weathering! 😍
Thank you so much!
I will be getting one soon. I’m in the process of building an all custom c14 and I’ve got a b36 6x6, this will be in our arsenal soon
Oh hell yes!
Your paint and weathering effects are great ! Might have to order this, looks like too much fun 🙂
Well thanks! It liked it when i opened it but then thought it needed to be older and dirtier.
@@AMPROEngineering Any good youtube video you recommend for tips on weathering? Did you post any yourself? Thanks !
Oh boy! Can't wait for mine. I think yellow might be a direction I'll wander in...........
I almost did yellow. Yellow with weathering would be amazing.
@@AMPROEngineering got a pic of a yellow one used in oil fields. So yeah, maybe. You made a great job of yours 👍👍
I re-watched this video, which is great. I was thinking about buying it for a friend who's recovering from surgery. You mentioned that there are a lot of things you could to with space in the bed of this vehicle. I recalled that another UA-camr put an FPV camera in the back and drove to around at one of the meets or demonstrations of the large Tamiya's semis. It was cool.
An FPV would be awesome! This is a pretty versatile platform and I have run mine a lot. I did have one motor fail rather soon (like 30 or so packs in) but it was a $5 part. As much as I am not usually into tracked vehicles, this thing is fun.
@@AMPROEngineering The UA-cam's channel so RC Mojo TV.
A big rusty chain swinging around on those front hooks would look great.
Oh man totally.
Love the weathering...👍👍
Thank you! It was a lot of fun.
Awesome job sir 👍👊
Thanks!
I'm going to buy one of these and mail it to you to weather it for me because HOLY CRAP does that look good! Great job and great review as always!
Hahah! It was surprisingly easy to do this.
Great video as always ! I wish my weathering was that fast and good !
Thank you! Hahahah! I can thank my daughter.
awesome job with the details!
Thank you so much!
I may have to pick one of these up. I'm VERY intrigued about the truck/trailer combo. Would love to have the whole set.
Man me too. I really want that.
Looks way better now than when it was shiny new!
Yeah it was very monotone when it was new.
so glad mine arrived today. like your video nice content presentasion
Thank you!
Really nice painting 😀
Thank you! I think it really made the vehicle!
Your daughters reaction is priceless 👏😅
Amazing scale detailing bro 🤤
LOL! I know she had no idea what it was. Thanks!
Wow. The paint and weathering effect 100/10! Brilliant. Do you have any tutorials on how to achieve something similar and what supplies are used? I love it and if I can make it look like that oh boy, I'm getting one fast 😁
I dont simply because I just did what "ScaleBuildersGuild" does on his channel. That guy is the master.
Should be easy to make it water proof afl that room upstairs 👊🏻👍🏻
Yeah I agree. Then add some props at the rear or flanges on the tracks!
OMG!!! I need that Truck and Trailer too!!
I know I want that!
Tracked vehicle that is not a tank! Exactly!!! Finally 😄
It would be cool if they make something like "Battle Trak" from Rock'n'roll racing game 😍🙊😻🤩
That was my first thought. Im not into tanks but I am into tracked stuff! Perfect.
The next WPL top seller.
Thats the truth
“What the heck is that?” Oh that made my day
Hahahhahaha!
I have never owned a WPL RC vehicle or a tracked RC vehicle but this looks like the perfect vehicle to change that. The weathering you did really made the vehicle superb in terms of scale realism but straight out of the box it was already good. The performance was impressive too for a 1:16 scale machine. On top of all that, the cost is less than many low grade toy RC cars with non-proportional controls so I think WPL is on to a winner with this one as long as it is reliable over time.
I have 6 WPL cars. 4 of them have their electronics including servos, winches and motors. A couple of them are driven all the time and quite hard at that. I am a huge fan of them and this new one is lining up to be no different. Keep in mind the price point but for what you pay, you get easily 3 times that.
@@AMPROEngineering As soon as I saw it I was interested and after seeing some reviews I'm certainly going to order one!
I just wish wpl could make them 1:10 scale. Any smaller and I just can’t get into it. Might be nice to have these all painted up and weathered as shelf queen decorations. Great vid. Cheers.
Give them some time. I think that is next.
I cant wait until they put that sweet sweet lowboy trailer with the fifth wheel hitch
OMG Me too!
Wait ...what...there's a trailer...I need that lol typical rc guy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤔🤫...great content as usual
I need that so bad....
nice video Alberto thank you for the in-depth view of this machine. I wish with all that extra room they wouldve moved electronics back and put in a full depth interior. I have the b24 and c24/54 and they're fun little buggies. is there anything you think they could do to make a KM version of it? I would hinge the back definitely
I think they did that for cost reduction. As for the metal....well....lets just say something is in the mail..... ;)
Very nice video. Love your paint and weathering👍👍. Do you think a 3-inch figure can fit into this thing?
Thank you! I was thinking the same. I didnt try but man, the legs will need to be chopped for sure.
Oooo interesting. Now I know why there's an annoying screw there for the battery cover!
LOL! Exactly.
Great review! Im wondering how does it look with the B series of WPL? That would help out with to purchase or not. Does look nice and the trailer would be awesome!. Again. Great review!
Great question. I know this is 1/16 as are the B-series cars. I assume they are going to play well together. You can see the truck and trailer on the box that are b-series scale.
Well detailed video. Nice paint! I'm waiting for mine to make my videos too.
Only a comment: There's no back door because it's an amphibious vehicle.
So there wasnt one on the real thing? I just figured it sealed well when it closed though I can see why, perhaps, you would not want a door. hahah!
Я поставил 600 лайк :) . Отлично раскрасили!
Ну спасибо вам огромное!
WPL said if they sell enough of these they'll release the trailer!
I know....I need this....
I ordered mine today after watching a few videos...Your video was great by the way...it made me want to do what you did to your E1...WEATHER it...which brings me to my question...What kind of weathering paint did you use or did you mix something with military green to give it that look?....I know it sounds like a silly question but I've never detailed a military vehicle to make it look weathered.
Thanks so much! This was all vallejo weathering washes. One was oil and one was this gross dark brownish. These are water based so you need to matte clear after or it will wash off. Then I added Tamiya weather powders to help with the details. Again, those are powders so you will need to matte/flat clear after. This was SOOOO easy to do and made it look incredible.
@@AMPROEngineering Awesome..Thank you very much for that...I'm gonna get all that together before my E1 arrives.
Nice Video could you ask wpl of there is coming a upgraded gearbeitet for this model?
Not that I know of. Right now all they have are metal tracks.
Pls help I can get the wheel caps on and I don’t want to push to hard and break them
They require a lot of force. I was surprised how much.
Did ir fit well with 1/18 figures ? Like joytoy or gi Joe ?
I think it is too small for them. They would need a lot of cutting to get in there but maybe you can.
Can you fit a gi-joe figure in the tank driver seat ?
I would say not with out a lot of modifications. The seating area is tiny.
Hey! I got a quick question! Is this battery sm 2p? Sm 3p? Sm 4p?
This uses a 2S pack.
That thing's so damn light it doesn't look like it even has suspension. Not fond of the fixed rear wheels, either, considering the thing it was patterned after has suspension there too. Might be a good project base, though, for how cheap it is.
Looks to use a pair of standard mini-Z motors. 130 size. Tons of options there. Wonder how sturdy that gearbox is...weight it up, put some proper metal tracks on it, hop the electronics up, and it might be a good companion vehicle to russian armor in this scale.
It is very light but the gear boxes are strong and it can carry a lot. I think we will see a lot of custom builds.
This thing is BEGGING for a Heng Long 6- or 7 th gen tank controller with sound and smoke. The little cover on top of the cabin, makes me think there will be a military version with a machine gun on top. The thing that really gets me, is that WPL -despite the half depth cabin, got ALL the levers right.. even the shifter, that's SO heavy and crappy in the real one, that crews standard carry a hammer so they can bang the thing in gear. Too funny..
Got an E1 on order, but the first 2 batches were sold-out immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if WPL came-out with a 'metal kit' with metal sprockets, metal tracks and 2 x 180 motors, instead of those wheezy 120's. Would improve speed only marginally, but the torque will be needed for the heavy metal stuff.
I, myself always pondered ways to make a Gas-71 with a Heng Long tank chassis. And now WPL actually made one.. in the usual tank-scale. I'm a VERY happy puppy! And, yes, it's slow. The actual vehicle isn't exactly the Ripsaw too... :P I believe the actual thing goes about 50km/h with its 'mighty' 85hp, at best.. anything faster and stuff starts to fall-off and break. On paper it can hit 55km/h.. There are some fun channels of guys restoring them. They're loud, clunky, they gobble diesel like mad, and make those sad "running coal' ( or whatever it's called) guys look like amateurs, and yet, they're still quite popular in the really remote area's, because they actually can go about anywhere in any kind of weather. Some parts of upper Siberia, where -28C is considered a 'mild winter's day' even use them as regular buses...
EDIT: I just got confirmation from WPL's tech-department that the trailer-truck is a 'go'. There's a little jumper on the E1's esc/rx that needs to be set to have one controller be able to control both the E1 and the trailer from the transmitter, by just holding the bottom button for 2 seconds. Neat.
I agree. As it is, it is very plain and lacking features. I think I'm gonna pass on this one, it's an oddball vehicle and honestly, a more tactical vehicle would have made more sense to me--would love to see a BMP-1 or an MTLB but then both would need individual track links to look right and the BMP usually has a turret which would mean more than 2 channels.
I suspect we will get a sound unit soon. As for the metal kit....I know something..... ;)
@@AMPROEngineering HAH! I figgered' as much.. I hope they do combine metal tracks with metal sprockets. Even pot-metal would be an improvement. The FTX Ripsaw rc tank just got the metal tracks, and those ate the plastic sprockets in no-time short. It's always the first things I upgrade with my HengLong tanks. 1) Metal sprockets 2)metal tracks ( and usually: 3) ballbearings for the outgoing sprocket shafts.) In that exact order. My Gas-71 is on its way. Just got confirmation of the shipping.
Cool
I really dig it.
Can you take the mini jrx2 And make a conversion kit From the jrx2 In make it into a jrxt
I think I saw someone doing that. It is an amazing model!
Can it be convert to BMP?
You can make a body for it i suspect. There is currently nothing out there for that conversion.
Why do you prefer the li ion over the lipo?
Because these toys are marketed toward children. LiPo batteries are dangerous by comparison and these Li-ion batteries are durable and safe. For my reg. cars, im all LiPo.
@@AMPROEngineering understood!! I thought there was probably some other advantage to it . Yes i like the power of lipo but i dont like how they are so volatile
It is 1/18 scale . Real gaz-71 dim is 5365 x 2582 x 1740 mm
I thought it looked too small. I think they claim 1/16 to match their other cars.
@@AMPROEngineering Yes you are right. By the way, all their military trucks are 1/18 scale, and the c-series is 1/14.
scam and disrespect to customers...
are the tracks plastic or rubber?
Either a stiff rubber or soft plastic. Metal ones are out now.
@@AMPROEngineering Yeah I ended up buying one so now i know. i will be looking into getting the metal track but i am curious if it will affect its swimming ability.
Its not 1:16 its 1:18 at best.
WPL and MN both produce random sizes from 1:12 to 1:18 yet they write 1:16 on all of them. The reason to do that is reusability of same part molds that makes cheap models. The reason to write 1:16 is for better sales. But if you looking matching sizes then they dont match.
Example:
if wpl C24 is 1:16 then B36-1:17 and E1-1:18 while C34-1:14
They are hardly the only company that does that. 1:16 refers to a general size than the actual scale. FMS sells the hilux as a 1:18 though it is 1:14. Hell, tamiya calls the Coldbuster body and hilux body 1:10 and the hilux is way bigger than the chevy. Annoying but true.
@@AMPROEngineering it is anoying.
Store some battery’s back there
A cooler...for beer.
Great looking RC, I'm wondering if you can shed some light on something for me since you helped develop the tracks? I purchased the already assembled metal tracks, put them on, one side is kind of skipping and jumpy. When I put it on its roof and I hit the throttle, and yes, I have the steering trim centered, one track will move quicker than the other and the same one makes a rattling sound, like it's jumping/skipping, or having a hard time on that front sprocket it's on. I've counted each track and made sure there's 67 pieces to it, maybe the gears inside are skipping because they're plastic?. Any insight, or any issues you've heard of would really help me out. Thanks so much, and great channel!
Hmmm... I have seen some that need breaking in. There may perhaps be some imperfection on the sprocket maybe? This could cause the noise and the added drag and there by causing the discrepancy of the track speed you are talking about?
@@AMPROEngineering appreciate the reply, thanks so much!
I don't know if there's enough room but this thing is just begging for a sound system with tank sounds and smoke coming out of the exhausts
I am usually not into sound kits but that was my first thought with this one.
@@AMPROEngineering me either. I have not ever put a sound kit in anything but it was literally the first thing I thought of when you started driving it. Not sure why.
On dry ground in the yard, this toy copes with an obstacle without problems. but if you drive out onto dry sand and try to turn around or turn 45 ° while driving .... Trucks immediately slide off. The drive crown is not made correctly. The crown of the gear must hold the girth along the edges of the track, and in this toy the crown of the drum cuts into small holes ... the awning of this machine has never been of this color. he was always gray in color from frost and sun. also in this toy are very hard torsion bars. there is practically no working out of the suspension. It is necessary to make them softer by at least 25%. If you seal the side slots, then it also floats. a real snow-swamp vehicle is really an all-terrain vehicle. and swims and climbs through the swamps.
Yes I noticed the same thing. They have since altered the drive sprockets for the metal tracks and they work well. This was a first for them and I think we will see significant improvements on this over the lifetime of the car.
@@AMPROEngineering So. No matter how they initially copied and made the tracks metal, and the last axle with the possibility of tension, the quality was at the highest level. Vinyl tracks are flexible, so they bend and fly off. I am trying to make double rollers from foam plastic, thereby increasing the buoyancy of the toy and eliminating the fall of the caterpillar. if all the rollers were installed as the last, double ones, then metal tracks would not be needed. The toy has very great abilities. An interesting model. floats but after additional light sealing. I do not recommend installing powerful motors. The box has plastic soft gears.
Suspensions doesn't look really nice when you were actually using it, it looks like it has none
It is light so i think it ends up floating. Every wheel is independently sprung.
Welcome to the people's liberation army of China. 🇨🇳👲
Haha!
This thing looks like most of the WPL product line... complete garbage.
They're cheap, great looking, you can get all kinds of upgrades for them, and they are easy to work on. They're durable and handle well. Great RCs for beginners, and a lot of fun to tweak and mod for the more experienced.
Not many RCs out there with this kind of attention to scale details, that come with all metal upgrades, sound kit, lights and a two speed transmission for just over 100 dollars.
Garbage? Have you actually run one? detailed one? built one? I have 6 and they are gems plus I have used lots of their parts on countless larger scale builds. This thing is just like the WPL line, awesome. Take into account cost, details, and simplicity as well. Not everything needs to cost $1000 and be for the hardcore user.
@@AMPROEngineering I own one, actually. And it will be my last. I have been building kits (RC cars specifically) for 38 years, and the kit I received is, by far, the worst yet. Now, I was not expecting it to go together like an 800 dollar kit, but compared to other cars that come from China, at a price (including shipping) that come in around 150 dollars, yeah, this is was insultingly bad. Horrible hardware, incomprehensible instructions, and zero customer service. I had to but extra hardware off Amazon just to get the thing together. Your experience may be different, and I respect that, but now every content creator on UA-cam is going to do a video on this garbage because it's "free" content. This used to be a fun hobby, now it's infected with all this marketing, influencer, biased corporate bullshit.
