Hi Jason we did the Gibson's hut to Shady Creek upper connecting track (Dunstans rd) just before closure back in June. It is definitely an easy run. We tried getting up Pinnibar from the Walkers rd side but with huge slippery ruts we decided against it. We had driven up from Bullocky Creek on Walkers road so went on some of the same tracks/roads as you. Keep the videos coming. Laurie
Thx for sharing the info on coming from Gibson's Hut, thought that'd be an easier way. Some of the guys we met up at Pinnibar came up the northern track and they were twin locked, 35's with probably 3 inch lifts or more and said they struggled. Not surprised it's been closed for maintenance.
Thx mate, lucky to have a few people with me that share their footage. Dan from Out There WIth Dan is usually Johnny on the spot with his camera and captures all the action for us.
Hey Iain, yeah the 76 has been a work in progress. I wanted to drive it stock to learn to drive it. Lockers are definitely on the list. Had planned for the TJM prolockers but they're discontinued now. Got a price from ARB to supply and fit ARB air lockers, was around $8k all done. Likely start with just a rear but will make the 76 far more capable for sure.
@@OffTheBeatenPathAus $8k for air lockers installed??? Mate, they're trying to take you to the cleaners with that price. I suggest an air locker for the rear, and an autolocker for the front, would be ~$2500
@@einfelder8262 kinda my thoughts... have only seen a few reviews on the autolockers, heard they can be pretty noisy/clunky in day to day driving? The lockers themselves were quoted at about $1,300 plus $800 for fitting plus switches etc another $200 or so. Also need an onboard compressor to run them, which was in the quote. All adds up.
@@bazza2540 thx will look into LTG as an option and yeah going to get some other ARB quotes as well. Didn't include track correction, but included front and rear lockers, ARB twin compressor, and install for those items as well as switches etc...
Yep, wish I'd done that prior to the trip. Nature of things I'm flat out working and then just jump in the car and go. A bit more time for planning/prep would have probably seen this done.....
Great vid Jason. The 76 did a top job. Did you spring a water leak in the back seat? At 39.17 mins you see it coming out from bottom of the door. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, water tank fitting in the back worked itself a little loose so was leaking a little, need a better solution to stop the fittings moving I think. Well spotted!
Sorry you lost me , why would anyone think it necessary to tow a trailer over that track , you are only causing unnecessary damage to the track which is why the other approaches are currently closed you are risking closing access to the area totally
Appreciate your point of view Colin but I don't agree. I don't think I damaged the track any more than some others would which was why I didn't sit there spinning wheels digging holes, rather opted to winch. The other 2 access points that are currently closed have been deteriorating over a long period of time. In fact last time I drove from Tom Groggin up to Pinnibar, almost 2yrs ago there was a track condition warning on the track at that time due to large ruts that had developed.

@OffTheBeatenPathAus bloody epic drive mate with trailer on,.
@@melburnian1979 thx mate, car did really well, especially considering open diffs.
@@OffTheBeatenPathAus you have definitely been testing the car out, from highway tyres in the rain to open wheel diffs 💪

Hey Jason, I’ve followed some of the great adventures you have done without lockers but maybe the time has come!

You can gain a significant improvement in drawbar clearance by simply turning the hitch upside down.
Yep, wish I'd done that prior to the trip. Nature of things I'm flat out working and then just jump in the car and go. A bit more time for planning/prep would have probably seen this done.....
