Many people have left the gay lifestyle. Very easy to find such people. SSA may not be a choice but it may also be a result of trauma or identity developmental issues. Look it up, you may be surprised. Worst thing we ever did was tell people they were born that way.

@@smalltownhomesteadAC Literally not how it works at all. Same sex attraction is not a result of trauma, or a developmental disorder. You ARE born that way and there's nothing that can be done about it nor is there anything that needs to be done about it.
There may be people who "left" the gay lifestyle mostly because they're weak enough to let narrow minded idiots such as yourself shame them into thinking that it's bad. But all they're doing is lying to themselves while causing even more damage to their mental well-being.

@@smalltownhomesteadAC There is no correlation between homosexuality and trauma. I suggest you are actually the one who must do a research. Many gay individuals are perfectly healthy and happy and confident with themselves. It is simply a matter of personality and preferential difference on how we grew up and who we look up to and due to the constructs of our society. It is just a natural part of development. You are overthinking it too much. Just because, you are traumatized, you are more likely to be gay? That sounds like BS.

He had many long term relationships through the years and when he was about 30-35 he kind of dropped off the grid for awhile. About a year later he contacted my wife and invited us to his wedding. We all assumed it was to another man, Nope. He had been dating a woman and had a 2 month old daughter. We were all confused and he told my wife he had never been more happy than he was with her and their daughter. He talks to my wife a lot, she finally asked him what happened and what changed. You know some people can be bi too? Straight people can't choose to not be gay, but if you're bi I could see how you might be able to suppress that part of yourself since you're still genuinely attracted to the opposite gender.
I wouldn't recommend it though, I'm much happier living my truth as a bi man. Denying that part of myself only caused me misery. If you feel like you have an attraction to more than just the opposite gender, you owe it to yourself to be honest with your feelings. It will set you free.

I did! A very close family friend. He literally became straight, got married to a woman, genuinely speaks in favour of how one can become straight with the correct interventions and spiritual help. These are his words, by the way. So yes, I have met someone who successfully "de-gayed".
    Edit:
Too many comments to reply to each individually 😅 All I want to say is:
    1. I believe we're all entitled to our own opinions. You do you. And I *will* do me.
    2. It does shock me, however, to see how many people believe you can change your whole gender but somehow you can't change the gender you're attracted to. That seems quite inconsistent to me.
    3. For people who believe one should be entitled to live out one's own sexuality, it's strange to see how people refuse to believe the man I speak of has chosen to turn away from being gay. It's like you so badly want him to stay in the Alphabet club, you cannot accept that *he* feels otherwise about *his own life*. Strange.
    4. My comment is definitely not a lie 😊 He was also a former drug addict. He now runs a rehabilitation programme. I'm sure you'll have no problem believing he could change that major part of himself, but you somehow have a problem believing he could change his sexuality.
    5. I wish that the LGBTQ+ club would accept that not everyone is for them without turning all opposition into an enemy. By you being for it, means that you oppose my value system. I don't consider you an enemy for that. I really believe we can live harmoniously in spite of our opposition, so long as you don't try to force me into conforming to your views. Let's not turn all things into a war.
Okay, that's it from me, boys and girls. Thank you to the people who believe someone can change. I'm sure we've all been at a point in our lives where we wished to change in some way or the other for the better. Don't take that privilege away from someone else. This is his better.

But there are plenty of examples right here on UA-cam.
I personally listened to a radio interview with a guy who used to be gay. He was a strong gay advocate and was the head of the LGBT movement in his university.
He said he had to visit a councillor on one occasion and the meeting with the councillor took an unexpected twist. They got into the subject of his childhood and events that took place then. He said the more counciling he got and the more he discussed troubling events when he was younger, the less "gay" he started feeling.
At the time of the radio interview, about 10 years after he left university, he was happily married to his wife and they had children.

Your sexual orientation only refers to whom your feel sexually and romantically attracted to. People can choose to ignore their feelings of sexual and romantic attraction for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't change their sexual identity. An heterosexual guy who decides to be a priest and takes his vows of chastity may choose to never touch sexually a human being again and to never nurture any romantic feelings, but that doesn't make him any less heterosexual.
The guy you know may have chosen to never engage in sexual or romantic behavior with other men, and he may very well find that choice to be worth the pain and struggle, because with it he gained a family he loves. But not following up on his feelings and desires doesn't make them less real, and living with a woman and having sex with her doesn't mean he genuinely and passionately loves her romantically and feels physically attracted to her.
Humanity has had - and still has - hundreds of cultures in which not marrying a person of the opposite gender and having children is simply not an option; millions of homosexual people were and are pressured into arranged heterosexual marriages, including hundreds of nobles and royals that HAD to produce heirs whether they like it or not - like Edward II of England that had multiple homosexual long term partners but still manage to do his duty and have 4 children with his wife. And heterosexual people are known to develop homosexual relationships in contexts were they habmve no contacts with people from the opposite gender for a very long time - because it's human to still crave physical and emotional intimacy.
The question we should be asking is whether we want a society in which people primarily marry for love and everyone deserves a shot at choosing a spouse the are in love with and attracted to; or whether we want a society in which we marry primarily for other reasons - like financial stability and child rearing. 'Conversion therapy' is only worthwhile in the second kind od society.

Meanwhile, women who are lesbian, usually it's of some negative experience or trauma with men and they simply can never or strong averse to ever going back to men. That, or they have this sort of label or symbolism that they feel being lesbian is challenging a wrongness they feel in the world, and heavily commit to it.
Others are like transgender people, they are butch females, masculine and feel they need to emulate a man in every way including being into women, and these women never seemed authentic... when me as a man gets flirted, molested and hit on by supposed lesbians.

It's just a fear that's stopping you that you'll get past later in your life, when society becomes more inclusive and accepting! Or there’s Rosaria Butterfield. I heard counselors talking before that for a segment of gay men, when you deal with their father issues from childhood, their same sex attraction just goes away. It’s definitely not unheard of. But of course, the militia does not want this out there. They want you to think change is impossible, as if it’s in your DNA. It’s not.

Well studies do show DNA influences it significantly. Same with other biological factors like prenatal envionrment, birth order, brain structure. So biology does play a large role. Also conversion therapy had been practiced for centuries and research shows that it is highly ineffective. In some cases, sexuality especially among women does spontaneously change though it's not due to voluntary actions. Also your friend could just be bisexual. Lol, that’s not evidence of what you think it is. If you have deep seated desires to be straight from moral beliefs then you can brainwash yourself into being whatever you want.
In ancient Greece it was considered normal and even desirable and societal standards meant adult men would pair up with young boys in homosexual relationships - left to their own devices these men would not have had these desires but societal norms meant that otherwise “straight” men were clearly pressured to be gay. Gay child abusers even.
Your sexual attractions are not choices or logical deductions - you like who you like. Your friend just brainwashed herself. You shouldn’t need counselling or need to work hard to be attracted to someone. Unless it’s not real

    • @jessicagorski8460
      @jessicagorski8460 9 місяців тому +4

When you are talking about desire-people can desire all sorts of things. People can change their taste buds. People become aroused by fetishes, which are clearly not natural-50 shades of unnatural…or more. I’m not saying same sex attraction is a fetish, but I am saying that those who think you cannot change your preference for certain things really really doubt the power of the human psyche. It is not easy, no doubt-but a human through the power of their mind can decide to eat only meat one day, eat this way for ages, and then turn around and become strict vegan and be completely repulsed by animal products. Their are ways to tame the desires of the body-and good thing, we can’t accept as a society the idea people are so controlled by their impulses and urges that we permit something like rape or pedophilia, or beastiality. We can observe many things as human scientist, but we are still pretty bad at understanding attraction at even a basic level (which is easily observable by the evidence).

Homosexualism is clearly a manifestation of the sex function but can only be described as a malfunction of the sex function and thus pathological or some sort of disease, and on any view it is against nature which is why buggery and sodomy are wholly unknown in the animal kingdom-obviously because they are utterly pintles as are all paraphiliacs such as sewerites and homosexualists
The quueer odd, strange or peculiar thing is why the religion modernism and its followers modernists, seek to make sacred cows of various forms of paraphiliac such as sewerites and trans-sexualists and become near hysterical at the slightest suggestion that there may be something objectionable about paraphiliacs and paraphiliac practices such as sodomy and buggery.
Why do you suppose what you call sexual preferences to merit protected status rather than preferences to steal or injure?
Some prefer to bugger or sodomise and others prefer to steal or injure-Both are prefeences, but for some queer reason the religion modernism seems to regard preferences involving the sex organs to merit protected s status. Throughout its history or past the common law has - quite rightly set its face against and sought to penalise sewerite practices such as buggery and sodomites, whereas statute law has sought to give sodomites and buggers protected status, I think because the prevailing or official religion in English speaking nations or peoples, is the religion modernism for the purposes of which any manifestation of filthy anti-natural inclinations or predilections is regarded as sacred and sundry paraphiliacs as sacred cows. Astonishingly I even hard one devout modernist refer to " gay sex" seemingly blithely unaware that what sewerites do to one another-or rather what I am *told* they do to or with oneanother involving one of the sex organs could possibly have any thing to do with sex or the activity of brining about new human beings or sex. It is axiomatic that homosexual " sex" is an impossibility which is why buggery and sodomy are completely unknown in nature or the animal kingdom, the reason for that being that nature does nothing pointless and buggery and sodomy are as pointless as buggers sodomites and sewerites, which for some inexplicable reason the religion modernism regards as sacred cows, but not necrophiliacs or bestialists, but hey ho, modernism is an extremely queer religion indeed. Why pick on sewerites and fake women to be your sacred cows but not thieves murderers and fraudsters, if you really want to sanctify everything that is vile filthy and antinatural?

It seems to me that its the so-called "progressives" are the real bigots. As adults, do whatever you want. But when CHILDREN are taking hormone blockers, having their bodies cut on and mutilated, ensuring they will never have children....all before they can firmly know who they are or what they want in life is when all of this has gone to far. We don't allow children to drink alcohol, buy nicotine, gets tattoos, have sex, move out on their own, or even get piercings w/o written parental concent.....because we know scientifically, neurologically, emotionally, and psychologically they are immature and inept at making rational decisions for their overall wellbeing, but sure let little Timmy cut his dick off and poor Susie get a double mastectomy all before their brains and identity have solidified. Hell ive seen insane parents say their child is neither male or female at birth because they are allowing them to make that decision. The entire woke movement should be deemed and called out for exactly what it is....clinically insane and mentally unstable. I support adults (over 25) that have decided to live life as a transvestite but no one should ever accept, acknowlegde nor affirm a child trying to do the same. Our world is demonic (I'm not even a very religious person) but any sane, rational, logical and common sense bearing person knows this shit is abhorrent and fundamentally immoral. If you truly believe and feel you were "born in the wrong body" you need intense therapy to figure out why you can't love yourself and what has created such a disconnect from who and what you are. I met a few gays and listening to their stories, they could have been straight. Events, choices, experiences happened after which the sheer animal sexual force of gay sex was too much for them to turn away from, like a drug they were hooked and it changed their outlook.
What I learnt from this is that though there may be so called cis gay men, I've never gotten to know their stories. But from what I can see is that many people, perhaps most, sit on a spectrum naturally but not absolutely nor irrevocably biased towards heterosexuality some more towards the poles than others but that events can shape a person's outlook so significantly that choices are made that lead to experiences that forever re-bias that individual.
Perhaps there's some biological influence somewhere in the original spectral positioning but it doesn't seem compulsive.
So would I say "born this way" ...no. but neither would I say it's a lifestyle choice.

How disingenuous of JP to not even present the reality of the affirmation model. It does not mean you never question your patient. It means you dont outright contradict them because that shuts down dialogue and prevents you from understanding their situation better. So if someone actually isn't trans you can help them understand that and if they are you can help them take the next steps.

I actually had a friend who claimed to be definitely gay, not bisexual and even had a bf. Eventually they broke up. A year and a half later, he ended up being straight and even claimed he was never gay despite having been intimate with a guy, which goes far beyond questioning and testing things out. I heard a rumour that apparently he went to some function, got high and received you know what to a certain area of the body and after that he was completely straight. I never questioned him on that so idk if it’s true but I did ask if he was bi because I’m not gonna pretend like he wasn’t gay before 💀 but his answer was no and that he was completely straight.
So I’ve seen that happen before, but idk how that happens since I’ve always been adamant about being straight and never had to question it, nor will I ever

If it was possible (even with great difficulty) to change orientation from gay to hetero, then I think pretty much every gay teen living in the 80's would have done it. Only a certified masochist would have chosen to be gay during the AIDS crisis and the rampant homophobia that accompanied it.
As a Christian, I am not allowed to declare that gay sex is holy in God's eyes... though I acknowledge that I'm not allowed to judge others (that's His job). But I regard conversion therapy as the snake oil that it is.

How can someone have no choice in their sexuality, especially if the categories are straight, bisexual, and gay? It doesn’t make logical sense.
We have a biological and evolutionary predisposition to be straight as that’s how we procreate. Beyond that, sexual pleasure is a spectrum dependant on exposure and temperament. You cant be born gay if being bisexual is an option, being bisexual destroys the notion you can be born gay because then one would have to make the argument that you could be born bisexual too, and how can you be born with sexual proclivities to BOTH sexes? It’s an absurd biological claim.
Your sexual proclivities are clearly related to personality AND what you’re exposed to sexually. No one is born with an interest in hardcore sexual kinks or fetishes, one works up to these through exposure. The same way people aren’t born with bestiality tendencies or object-philia.
And if you can work up to something, you can move away from it too through abstinence or cognitive therapy.
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with homosexuality or bisexuality, because I don’t believe there is. But you’re clearly not born that way and have a say in it. I’m also just saying it should be an option to those who are unhappy with their perceived sexuality. There are lots of youth who think they might be gay who don’t want to be. If they don’t want to be, who are we to tell them they must?
