Me personally as a comic book collector I have the seller pull the comic book out the bag and hand it to me comic book 101 I'm inspecting that book. You have to make sure no pages are missing certain era of comics have the value stamps. There's a lot of scammers in dishonest people out there be weary an absolutely check every comic book if you're spending good money
Loved the video!💕 Just started my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They offer a huge variety of digital comics for every genre, and lifetime updates too!😍
He knew precisely the market value of the books and did all of the homework. Don't lose sleep, 750 was above market / probably right on the money. He didn't cancel the sale because he was mad about the broken book - he's the one who bagged and boarded it... he already knew about the damage. He cancelled the sale because he's holding out for more money. Non-comic people see $.10/$.12 covers and their eyes go green and they think they've found a Picasso.
Not an AF15. If you read the red box on the splash page it says “exactly as it appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15”. Lesson learned though, let the seller opened the bag up, beware of low grade, brittle comics… as they do flake off so quickly. Admittedly though for the Iron Man #1 it already had that huge chunk of the cover corner just placed in the bag just sitting there. Another word of warning. Don’t open up comics when there is a drink standing next to them. It’s a stupid move.
You can see how tight them books are in side the bags. Almost looks like shrink wrap they are in there so tight. Honestly im surprised you even made an offer. The only way to get them out would be to open the bag with a razor.
That's a crap situation all around. Sometimes you just can't tell how brittle those covers and pages are until it is too late. Better luck next time! Glad to see you releasing content again after that break!
Always, always, always tell the dealer to take the book out of the bag on high priced books. If its over $100. He is taking it out of the bag. Ive seen books hit the floor in the past. Ive seen idiots in my past comic stores open a book and not pull down and fold over the tape and get the tape stuck on the cover, only to rip the surface off the cover in the area the tape stuck too. This happened on a 1st appearance of Green Goblin
Anything over $20... I would insist on looking through the book. Make the seller be the one to take it out of the bag. I look through it with the seller watching. Once encountered an owner of a LCS who got offended that I wanted to check on a $100 book. He claimed that he already checked the book and it is fine. I said I wanted to double check. That is where he got offended and kicked me out of his store. From then on... any seller who object to me looking through a book I'm interested in... I walk away. Though I understand the inconvenience it is for the seller to have to open up the book. From my standpoint... I'm protecting myself because there are usually no returns on comics once I take them home and then later discover pages missing, clipped coupons, etc. I'm stuck with it.
This is why I never take anyone's books out of bags when I want to see them. Let them do that. But...you made the deal, you should have honored it. Next time, maybe don't be so anxious to drop a number. See the warning signs, and know when to walk away.
Yeah I think you should have had him take it out. It may have been barely hanging on and the folded edges applying extra pressure most likely did the job. Not your fault. Sounds like he had other things going on or maybe he would have done it with you. I asked a seller if they could open a Golden Age book I was wanting to buy for a bit of money. Glad I did because inside was a completely different book.
You're good man just remember always have the seller take the book out AND put it back in. You can tell how they handle their stuff by how they put the book back in. Also if a book is brittle or has a lot of wear on a color breaking line it can detach inside a bag if touched alot like say a corner.
In watching I think you said it best , let the comic owner pull out his own book and check it. If its a very pricey issue (when I buy now at times) I let the owner do it basically.
Hey Chris, first-time viewer, long-time collector. I think you already stated the obvious is that in the future, whenever you want to look at books, especially silver age or keys of any genre place the burden on the seller to take books from the bag. Also, for the haters that say @12:41 in the video you passed on, an AF 15 coverless are incorrect. That is a square bound book, as you can see from the staple placement. Zoom in, folks. Probably a Marvel Tales 1. I couldn't see the spine. I think you handled the situation as best as you could.
Thank you for this comment! I hope you subscribe and join this space of UA-cam! I agree with your insights, and thank you for taking the time to correct the incorrect comments made about the AF 15. It’s difficult for people to make that distinction with a quick glimpse on video, but you clearly know your stuff better than most!
You learned to have the seller pull it out and he learned that not everyone who buys comics is a sucker he knows he was doing shady shit and karma will correct him one day
All those comic books look to me like they are heat scorched from years of being stored next to a heater. I've seen those before. The paper is all aged, dried out and will just disintegrate as you flip through the pages. They are just to stay in a bag -as is- forever. Also you would have to sell all the good ones just to make back your $750 and you will just have trash left over.
that corner was 29:06 obviously detached before it came out of the bag, being held in place only by the creased pages. It's likely that the only reason he left the corner pages folded up was that he tried to straighten those corners after he bought it, and that's when he realized that it was detached. Also, with that big missing piece of the upper right hand corner, it didn't start off as very valuable
I have never been a hard core comic collector. But when my family would go vocation I'd by the odd comic book. One time I was at a comic book store I picked up a comic just to look at it. The owner told me , unless you're going to buy something get out of my store.
Me, as a collector, as soon as I heard that. RED FLAG! I'd look at the books. If there was something there. I'd demand to be able to take the book out. Plus, I'd make sure he is there watching me open the bag. That way, there is no second guessing or blame that can be made. Secondly, those conditions are trash!!! I wouldn't give a dollar for any of them. It's like they came from someone's basement that got flooded. Then, they got more damaged while they tried to fix them to look "pretty" to scam someone. That is my take away on this video anyway. Glad you walked away and shared! Good lesson for beginners.
You are a sympathetic guy so it makes sense for you to feel bad. But you are smart and you know what’s up. I’m glad to see the situation end in a civil way.
Hey Chris, how are you? It’s Lee from Elizabeth with a new name for my UA-cam handle. I want to say that the feeling I have is that this seller knew that that book was in such bad condition, as well as the others. And that is why he did not want them taken out of the bag. He also said make sure you know what you were getting. It makes me believe that he knew very well what would happen and was trying to unload the books on someone who otherwise would not have looked the way you did. You did exactly what any smart, buyer should do, you looked at the items before you bought them. Smart on your part, bad on his part.
If he went down to $800 not sure why he would not do $750 but the box for sure was worth well over $1,000 well over closer to $2k imo.Now to resellers the box is only worth the least amount they could get it for.I would have just gave the $800 took the books and been done with it with you saying that you really wanted them and you even said yourself $1250 so you know the $800 was a deal maybe not a good/great deal but a deal all the same.I used to be a low budget collector so I know a lot about low grade comics and how pieces do tend to fall out when you take them out of the bags. And yes that piece was detached or almost detached you can tell it was not a recent rip and ofc the guy is going to try and rip you off if you will.Box was still worth $800 though at any rate my bet is he will sell them to you next time you see him.Do you deal in vintage toys by chance?
This reminds me of trying to buy a car. Without opening the doors, hood and not having a test ride, or worse, can't hear the car run. You didn't do anything wrong here brother. You had e very right to want to look at it, especially if we're talking major money 💰 🤑 💸 I'll bet if it we're the other way around he would wanna look at it closer. It's your money, why get screwed over. Both parties have to have an understanding, he obviously didn't.
Don't take it out of the plastic because the books going to fall apart sounds exactly what the guy was thinking. Incredible that he values those books at over a grand yet hasnt invested in a few bags and boards for the top half. Got to disagree on the point about bagging skills. Whoever did that got Iron Man #1 into an over tight bag and folded those pages just right so the book wasn't going to move and looked half way decent.
I am very particular of who I purchase comic books from. Anyone who starts out with unusual demands should be avoided. You can't take the comics out of the bag, screams "problem comics" I will walk out of a shop or away from a booth if someone has to look up prices on the Internet. You should already have a book priced or at least have an idea of value in your head. I will also walk away from a sale if someone has books marked to high. I already know a rough estimate of most books and I know what I am willing to pay for a book. Not saying I have not overpaid for a book, but I know when I do and I am OK with that. If someone does not seem like they know what they are doing I will walk away. Someone who asks mint price for something that is obviously not mint. Never be afraid to walk away from a deal that seems like you are getting scammed. The only thing you should have done different is walk away as soon as he said "You can't take the comics out of the bag"
Interesting video. I wouldn't have been as kind if I was accused of that, so you kept your cool and acted professionally. I always keep in mind that if the seller is someone I frequent regularly, the next deal they have may be 5x better than what I'm looking at, so better to be composed and know that there's always a next deal to be had.
Always ask to have the other person pull it out of the bag prior to making a deal. Brittle comics are nobody's fault except whoever kept them in that shitty condition. But if the seller had the wrong size sleeve, it causes issues too. If you bought the stuff than the deal is done. Just don't buy from him again. It will be a rocky relationship after he acted that way, especially if he knew the comics were brittle to begin with.
In slowmo you can see that edge separating as you pull the comic out. So either 1) it was already broken off in the bag, or 2) it went in just barely hanging on but that bag is way too small and tight, and the pressure of pulling it out was the last straw and made it separate fully. Either way, it's not your fault. If it was #2, then whoever put that book in there really fucked it up because you need to handle brittle and damaged comics like that very carefully and put them in a bag that's specious enough... certainly not a modern comic bag which will absolutely be way too tight and WILL cause damage as you put the book in and take it out. I've made the mistake myself of putting books in bags that are too tight. To take them out I just ended up cutting the bag rather than putting the force necessary on the books to remove them.
That comic was a wreck before you opened the bag. How do people sell comics in such poor condition. He should have had it restored before bagging it. You are correct-next time let the seller take it out of the bag. If the seller doesn’t want to take it out of the bag, then the price should be less.
he was clearly trying to sell low grade damaged books. As soon as you took the Iron Man 1 out of the bag and the piece falls out I no longer want to deal with the guy. I say good bye. Unfortunately he will just wait for the sucker.
yea too sketchy to be handling like that at a flea market - walk away you are better off - ALWAYS best to leave emotions out of any financial deals - you shared man cues that as an outsider would give me pause - thanks for sharing
If you have conservation skills, that might be a good find. And it is a good thing if all of the fragments are contained in the bag because they can be rejoined. So the seller did right by including the pieces and even leaving the folded brittle pages alone for a skilled person to manipulate. But they are wrong for trying to hide the flaw and blame it on you when it is revealed. My 2 cents worth!
You didn't do anything wrong. Before you took it out of the bag, you could clearly see the slice at the edge of the cover. This is why I always go to a comic book store or conventions where they sell collectibles. As much as I love Flea Markets, you really have to know what you're buying so they don't take advantage of you.
From the video it looks like when the book was put in the bag those pages + cover were folded over then someone slid in something thin and unfolded the cover.
Oh I recognized this seller it's the guy that's always on top shelf kicks videos , yeah this seller is a pain to deal with and very scammy , there's been incidents where his giving Aaron higher prices then telling other customers in Spanish a lower price .... Glad you were recording .
No,that was for you 300.00 dollars and maybe, you get a total of another 300 profit. This isn't 2021,your time is money and those were in bad shape for the most part. I'm happy for you that you didn't do the deal, guys a scammer.
Bummer! Great issues but in horrible shape. Seller tried to pass them as decent but you made the right decision, stay away. Btw you’re absolutely correct, you have to inspect the books before putting up the money.
Not very professional of him to accuse you of destroying the book. Great lesson learned though to let the vendor take the books out of the bag! Unfortunate experience but made for a great video!
It looks like that piece was still attached, but the creases are really brittle and barely hanging on. If you go frame by frame when it's being removed from the bag you can see the separation happening (kinda looks like the crease is expanding a bit). And at 21:30 you can see what appears to be a thin piece of the cover blow away as well as the corner of one of the interior pages (wind is a scourge to unbagged comics!). So in short, brittle pages, it was bound to happen at some point (if not there then when you got it home). So from his perspective I can see how he'd think you did something, assuming he isn't a comic book guy that's handled silver and golden age books and knows full well about brittle pages. I wouldn't attribute to malice that which could be explained by ignorance. Lesson learned! Let the seller remove the book from the bag!
Your not wrong got in this kind situation one time but got a full refund cause condition was not as discussed. Good looking out for yourself you would have felt like shit if you followed thru that deal.
I would have told you...Look pal - they are FRAGILE...do NOT take them out of the bag...PERIOD. If you can't live with that, don't BUY it. The guy should NOT have let you open up the bag. Suggestion: Collect iron skillets instead.
I think the best thing you should've done is what you mentioned in the video. Have the seller take it out himself. If he had a big deal with you not removing them from the plastic. I would of done the same if I was a interested buyer. I would need to take them out for inspection. Good video.
That was one of your best negotiating Chris! I would have still made the purchase despite that one book mishap. Some of the books looked in decent shape to take a chance on the collection. I think the dealer was relieved to get away from the deal! Lol. Bty that corner was already loose. You handle the book very carefully. Silver Age comics get brittle when not stored properly. No harm no foul. Some books did look good but some did looked really bad.
Unfortunately after that reveal I was not going to pay the agreed price of $750. I really wanted these books, but I would have needed to inspect the rest and who knows what disaster would have come from that?!?
That book was barely alive and the next person to touch it would have killed it. Unfortunately that person was you. As far as bargaining on a price, let the seller quote first. This discovery was full of fools gold 😢😢
@@LimitedInfinity9 I believe you’re correct. My son and I were watching this and he thought the cover may be sticking to the back of Tinytown book. As I recheck it, it does look to have the Marvel Tales 1 character faces from the top left cover box in a couple frames. Got excited there for a few. That would have been a cool find. Thanks for the update!
Great video and I totally sympathize with you. Most of my huge grail books are lower grade. Around 2.0 I'd say. That's the range I could afford for my big books. But if i had someone pull a comic out of the bag and pieces came off. Well that would be on me. Unless the possible buyer mis handled the book some way. Like just ripping the old book out of the bag. Those older books need to be handled delicately and easy. If someone is doing that and a piece came off. I'd be like sorry it's a bittle book. And try and work with the buyer if they still wanted the book or books. But I'd never want to blame rhe buyer. I know the condition of my books. And that could be a possibility of happening. :) seems to me that seller knew there was some issues with the books. And that's why he acted that way. I just recently sold a comic brother. A daredevil #1 2.0 range. And he asked me specifically can he take the book out to read. And I told him. I took it out to check the book for condition and to make sure it was complete. And I had no issue taking it out of the bag. But I did tell him to handle book with care...hahaha he received the book and flipped thru it very happy. He should of been honest and told you the books are in rough shape. Key books are still valuable in any condtion. Just my humble opinion.
The seller made a big mistake taking "high dollar books:" to a swap meet. No one has that kind of money. Time and again books get left out overnight and dew/moisture get in the plastic. The seller doesn't realize or care he damaged his own items. I've seen musical instruments left in the hot sun and rain. I've taken a seller's word before and came home with water damaged/stained books.
This is a “higher end” flea market, so you do get shoppers with deep pockets. But if you’re going to sell high dollar items you should act like a high value dealer.
The moment he told you not to pull the Comic book out of the back that should’ve been your first red alert and I would’ve asked him to do it then but thanks for the video you learn from that I always tell the person who selling the book to take them out of the bag. Let them do it.
Hi welcome back it’s been a while since I seen a viddy from you. Um I would say the guy at the flea market wasn’t to transparent with the condition of the comics obviously the seller had to of known the condition of the iron man and other comics I am sure they put it in the bag and board. It looked as of the corner was already cut and the bag was just holding it in place so it would present better than it actually was. It wasn’t your fault it fell off you were just doing your due diligence like anyone would before they drop 750 on some comics. I even suspected the seller knew because he even was dropping the price down quick from his initial price. It is what it is you know. I wouldn’t have tried to make a deal on the whole box but would have tried to haggle with one or two of them if I wanted to add them to the collection. The hardest part I think of comic collecting is knowing when to just walk away from comics when you been looking for a certain comic it’s tuff to walk away from even a poor condition iron man 1 without trying to counter offer a price for just one comic if you been chasing that comic you know what I mean. After all that I might of still offered them a lowball offer for it if it had all its pages. We’re just talking about iron man 1 but at that point it’s still worth to look at the others that you might be interested in. It’s like half of comic collecting is the journey it takes you on finding each comic you been hunting down and the little victories you get when you find that certain comic or awesome deals. Good viddy bud it makes me think of what I would have done in that situation. Like you said it prob would have been better if the seller took it out the bag but I do believe seller knew ahead of time it was like that.
Welcome back! I love this comment, but I can tell you right now, I probably would not have been able to pick books out of this box. It was an all or nothing deal without paying ridiculous prices.
I've been to this flea market, and I know this vendor. He has comics sometimes, but he doesn't know comics. He often has someone who prices for him, and often prices low grade books for NM prices. I've walked away from deals with him before, and tend to steer clear. You don't know the bullet you dodged on this one.
You have a Stevie Ray Vaughan poster... an amazing musician you're probably not a bad guy... we live in a very different crazy world --I'm thinking that all these wacko zoids are crawling under rocks on a regular basis..Laxvespa-LosAngeles ... long time media seller on various different platforms mostly unusual strange stuff, sometimes even rare... but comic books were really never my thing... I actually carefully wrap and store all of my media items so they're not going to get trashed before they actually get bought, I take meticulous care in packing them so you could throw them like a frisbee... even the glass & fragile items are double boxed for my other inventory.. they probably weren't using acid free archival products.. they do make foam core that is acid free & archival.. but rather some cheap cardboard backing... was probably used with no attention to detail... when you get plastic things involved there's all kinds of bad condensation & yucky things that happen..
A graded 4.5 IM #1 is not a lot of money relatively speaking. It's one of those keys (like Sub Mariner, Hire for Hire, Marvel Premiere 15) that everyone seems to have mostly because lower grades are affordable. Save your hard-earned dollars for those books and skip the raw onion-skin brittle books. All they're gonna do is get worse. I agree with the rest of the comments. He knew what he had, he dressed the books up as good as he could, and he was looking for a sucker. You didn't qualify.
You are 100% blameless for the corner of the cover coming off. It looks like the pages underneath were brown and I suspect brittle. Be glad he backed out of the deal.
I really hate those bags with the sticky stuff on the back. Disaster waiting to happen. There’s a key Action 276 in there with the first Brainiac 5 and a few other characters
After making the deal, I would have went ahead and bought the books for the seven fifty. You agreed to the deal without taking them out of the bags, so I think that put it on you. But I would have bought them anyway. I think there was 3 or 4 books in there. That you could have got your money back on. I'll tell you.I bought a fantastic four number 1, one time. It was in worse condition than any of those. it had tape on the cover. Somebody tried to color it. I mean, it was the worst looking copy of a comic book I've ever seen. It actually looked like it had been laying in the street, and was rained on, and then run over by multiple vehicles . I sent it into CGC. they said it was the lowest grade they had never given on that book. So I put it on ebay and auctioned it off, and I gave explicit details of the condition even though c g c had already graded it, and stated its actual condition. It ended up selling for $750. I was blown away I didn't think anybody would buy it. Quite a few people placed bids on it. I got good feedback on it and everybody was happy. The key was just putting it out there and being truthful. You'd be surprised at what somebody would buy Just to1 own something that they couldn't afford otherwise. I really enjoyed the book while I had it, but I was glad to sell it.And the person who got it was glad to own it.
It’s funny how I didn’t agree to any deal, but you seem to think so. Everyone else that watched the video was able to follow what was going on, but you seem to think I backed out on a deal. THE SELLER WAS THE ONE WHO COMPLETELY BACKED OUT AND SAID HE DIDN’T WANT TO SELL THE BOOKS! Did you watch the video? I’m unable to read the rest of your comment after the way you started it.
He didn't sound angry/upset to me. He even said 'sorry' - so he understands. That piece clearly fell off and those folds would take decades to look like that. I think his initial reaction was to blame you, but eh. Seems like he's used to arguing with people.
You’re probably right about that. That’s why I don’t want “bad blood,” but at the same time I want to share the experience and my feelings towards it. I’m actively trying to ruin this man’s credibility lol!
I looked at that pile before you did Chris. The books were falling apart. He knows nothing about condition and values. My offer was alot lower then yours. ANY REPUTABLE dealer lets the customer look at the books prior to purchasing.
That shit's rotted......what the hell were you thinking? $150 for the whole box was $50 TOO much....Sober up dude. You should have walked and not even offered ANYTHING. Based on what I see, those things are appalling.....
Looked already cut to me. Just kind of sitting there looking like a crease. Was that an Amazing fantasy 15? Can't remember what the splash page looks like, but things in that artwork looked early 60s.
@@marcusmolyneux6422 bro's going around the whole comment section spreading misinformation lol stop commenting on things you know nothing about. That wasn't a AF 15.
Nice little box of goodies... But unfortunately most if not all were in terrible condition.. Like definitely not 1000..not even $750 prices... Especially if they were all in the condition of that Ironman 1 that blew up in your hands. I can almost guarantee that you would have had books with missing pages and cutouts etc if you went thru with that deal. And that Asm Annual 1 is the better book over the Ironman 1 imo. If there were beat up Hulk 1s, X-men 1s, Avengers 1s, even a Amazing Fantasy 15 that was as good as toilet paper, then I would have been making deals. You definitely dodged a huge bullet man!
4:57 "it was too tight to get them into the bags": Sounds like angryseller put the comics into bags that were too small. (silver age comics into current-size bags?)
You seriously goofed not just paying the 750. There was a cover less amazing fantasy 15 you passed on and that’s still a multiple thousands of dollars book. Cost yourself a lot of money being to stringent
I say never deal with that person ever again and that is all I have to say.

You might be right on the money with this comment!
Always let the seller remove it from the bag...this way if something happens it's their fault/responsibility.
Not an AF15. If you read the red box on the splash page it says “exactly as it appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15”. Lesson learned though, let the seller opened the bag up, beware of low grade, brittle comics… as they do flake off so quickly.
You learned to have the seller pull it out and he learned that not everyone who buys comics is a sucker he knows he was doing shady shit and karma will correct him one day
100% He knew that comic was already ruined. That seller needs to be blacklisted from selling comics. Nobody should have to get racked by him.
I hear you!
I agree. The plan was to resell everything and keep nothing. But looking closely, they were so brittle.
As a collector I'm simply thrilled to handle books surviving as long as they have hook me up with the seller I'll grab all he got
that corner was 29:06 obviously detached before it came out of the bag, being held in place only by the creased pages. It's likely that the only reason he left the corner pages folded up was that he tried to straighten those corners after he bought it, and that's when he realized that it was detached. Also, with that big missing piece of the upper right hand corner, it didn't start off as very valuable
More than fair offer. Condition is everything. Of course you want to look at the collection.
Obviously! People saying they would’ve just looked and walked away… Suuure you would’ve!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
You are a sympathetic guy so it makes sense for you to feel bad. But you are smart and you know what’s up. I’m glad to see the situation end in a civil way.
Thank you!
I love vintage toys!
This is SPOT ON!
Always have the seller take out and put back into the bag and board.
Yes!
Incredibly brittle pages. Books like that are going to completely fall apart with much handling.
For sure!
NAHHH MAN that huge corner looked 99% detached holding on by a thread and the air took it. Also he could get it resto'd blue label with that ez
I agree completely!
I am very particular of who I purchase comic books from. Anyone who starts out with unusual demands should be avoided. You can't take the comics out of the bag, screams "problem comics"
I will walk out of a shop or away from a booth if someone has to look up prices on the Internet.
In this condition... No regrets to have.
Thanks for the insight on this one!
I wouldn't buy any of those books after seeing the condition they were in.
You dodged a bullet walking away from that deal. Those books were junk and brittle beyond belief. You should be relieved
I am!
Unfortunately he will just wait for the sucker.
yea too sketchy to be handling like that at a flea market - walk away you are better off - ALWAYS best to leave emotions out of any financial deals - you shared man cues that as an outsider would give me pause - thanks for sharing
what do you mean? I'm confused.
Thanks for the tips!
I agree completely! I much prefer buying from conventions.
From the video it looks like when the book was put in the bag those pages + cover were folded over then someone slid in something thin and unfolded the cover.
Yeah, it looks like a poor packing job there.
Oh I recognized this seller it's the guy that's always on top shelf kicks videos , yeah this seller is a pain to deal with and very scammy , there's been incidents where his giving Aaron higher prices then telling other customers in Spanish a lower price .... Glad you were recording .
And Aaron, like me, is a straight shooter. It’s tough doing business with this guy.
I think inspection is a must. I didn’t even open the book to check for missing pages or cut outs. This was a very frustrating experience.
That’s a tough situation… His ignorance is mostly to blame for this whole thing. Like you said, he’s not a comic expert.
I think that plays a big part in all this.
Not very professional of him to accuse you of destroying the book. Great lesson learned though to let the vendor take the books out of the bag! Unfortunate experience but made for a great video!
Well said! Thank you for this lovely comment!
He's at the Meadowlands Flea Market 😁
I think this is a great evaluation of the situation! I agree with your conclusions!
That dude tried to scam you
Agreed
Your not wrong got in this kind situation one time but got a full refund cause condition was not as discussed. Good looking out for yourself you would have felt like shit if you followed thru that deal.
Agreed!
I would have told you...Look pal - they are FRAGILE...do NOT take them out of the bag...PERIOD. If you can't live with that, don't BUY it. The guy should NOT have let you open up the bag. Suggestion: Collect iron skillets instead.
I’m guessing this is a troll account LOL
It’s Matt from CGC, dropping hints about the next big thing.
Comicbook 101. Make sure the books are complete coverr ro cover
I think the best thing you should've done is what you mentioned in the video. Have the seller take it out himself. If he had a big deal with you not removing them from the plastic. I would of done the same if I was a interested buyer. I would need to take them out for inspection. Good video.
Thank you!
Good advice!
The "seller" is, clearly, a scammer. You dodged a bullet.
Where is that place?
12:41 in you had a coverless Amazing Fantasy 15 first spiderman!?
12:47 he checks the spine and it appears to be a square bound book. and what remains of the spine kinda looks like it says "marvel tales"
Unfortunately not lol! It was a reprint.
That’s an awesome story and I totally agree with you!
Those books are brittle. That's why there are so many spine splits and pieces missing.
Thanks a ton, this was super helpful!
Great show guys, thank you
Great video, appreciate you sharing it!
The moment he told you not to pull the Comic book out of the back that should’ve been your first red alert and I would’ve asked him to do it then but thanks for the video you learn from that I always tell the person who selling the book to take them out of the bag. Let them do it.
Agreed!
I agree with what you said. You should’ve let HIM take it out of the bag. But this is not your fault whatsoever.
That definitely would’ve been the safer play.
I agree with you Barry!
wow, great video. thanks so much
You have a Stevie Ray Vaughan poster... an amazing musician you're probably not a bad guy... we live in a very different crazy world --I'm thinking that all these wacko zoids are crawling under rocks on a regular basis..Laxvespa-LosAngeles ... long time media seller on various different platforms mostly unusual strange stuff, sometimes even rare... but comic books were really never my thing...
I agree!
very helpful, worth the watch
Remember an Ebay listing is something that is not purchased
Not true at all you can filter it to show recent sales that is why everyone bases value from Ebay
You are 100% blameless for the corner of the cover coming off. It looks like the pages underneath were brown and I suspect brittle. Be glad he backed out of the deal.
Yeah! Dodged a bullet there.
@@CGL_Collectibles I don't think you dodged a bullet at all and I hope next time you meet up with him you can get the books.
I quit comic book collecting mostly due to having to deal with people
That sucks…
@@CGL_Collectibles many comic collectors are hard to deal with. Hope I run into you at the Meadowlands flea market one day
Definitely!
That is not a AF #15 people its a Marvel Tales #1 Squarebound comic.
Thank you for clarifying!
Can't wait to start my collection
I really hate those bags with the sticky stuff on the back. Disaster waiting to happen.
There’s a key Action 276 in there with the first Brainiac 5 and a few other characters
It’s a shame… there were nice issues in there.
Always ask the dealer / seller to pull the book out.
Yes!
They don't look like they were in silver age bags. Makes them even harder to get out of the bag properly.
Next time alert owner as soon as the breakdown occurs. Do not even try to "fix" things. My advice.
Agreed!
The wind was blowing that book away. 😮
It’s always windy at our flea market… it’s a wind tunnel.
I know one thing if that was me and I bought it without opening it up first and got it home then that happened I would be pretty upset
I looked at that pile before you did Chris. The books were falling apart. He knows nothing about condition and values. My offer was alot lower then yours. ANY REPUTABLE dealer lets the customer look at the books prior to purchasing.
You tried to warn me!
That shit's rotted......what the hell were you thinking? $150 for the whole box was $50 TOO much....Sober up dude. You should have walked and not even offered ANYTHING. Based on what I see, those things are appalling.....
Ok haha
Looked already cut to me. Just kind of sitting there looking like a crease. Was that an Amazing fantasy 15? Can't remember what the splash page looks like, but things in that artwork looked early 60s.
Yeah that was a coverless AF15 that he missed lol. Would've covered the 750 price tag alone
It’s a reprint. Look at the red text bubble. “Exactly how it appears in AF15”
Unfortunately that wasn’t an AF 15.
Unfortunately it was a reprint, but thank you for taking the time to comment on this situation!
@@marcusmolyneux6422 bro's going around the whole comment section spreading misinformation lol stop commenting on things you know nothing about. That wasn't a AF 15.
ill definitely try that, thanks!
Love that SRV poster man!!
Thank you!
I agree!
4:57 "it was too tight to get them into the bags": Sounds like angryseller put the comics into bags that were too small. (silver age comics into current-size bags?)
Very possible!
@ 12:41 you went by a coverless AF15 that wouldve covered that $750 price tag and the whole box.
That was actually an older reprint.
You seriously goofed not just paying the 750. There was a cover less amazing fantasy 15 you passed on and that’s still a multiple thousands of dollars book. Cost yourself a lot of money being to stringent
Haha! That was not an AF 15. It was an older reprint. Only thing I cost myself was a headache!
Fantastic vid!!! Thanks a lot!
