Hard to get one Henk ;-) But the last batch I was quick enough! (buyed at 22:00:02hr UTC @ 16th of march 2011). Can't wait till my FunCube Dongle arrives! Rick, PE2AAB
@iantickle You are absolutely right. The target application may not be autorotating antennas etc. Objective of the experiment was to see if the FCD could meet the 'thresholds' of the Kenwood TS2000. For example: decode O/OREOS 1k2 data ~5 degrees elevation, or HO68 CW beacon audible at 0.5 degrees elevation. Which it did. That btw does not mean the FCD is a better receiver, by all means, it's not. Yet - it's a VERY powerful device. Many more aspects left that are still to test. Thanks, Henk
If you've never configured one of these dongles before then you're in for a serious disappointment if you acquire one. These are NOT plug & play devices, and require some configuration to get them to work. It's now five years after this video was uploaded and although the FunCube has better support than the typical RTL dongle, it STILL requires a bit a knowlege to get them to work even in 2015. Not trying to discourage anyone but I was really disappointed with mine the first couple months because I simply could NOT get it to work - mine was GIVEN to me. However, I persisted and literally two months later I finally got it properly set up and now I absolutely LOVE this little thing. Really amazing technology :)
I do use SSB (mast-mounted) pre-amp's for 70cm, and SSB (in shack) for 2 mtr. Reception also great without pre-amp. Two factors that impact SNR: - the gain setting in the FCD (too high gain only gives noise) - strong stations on nearby freq, use a filter (or a pre-amp, they have build-in filters) Pointing the antenna (with right left/right polarization) also makes a difference. Success ! Henk, PA3GUO
@HighVoltageG33k Best is to start with reception of a CW beacon, and to use WR Plus as SDR software. Other programs work also, but are more difficult to get started. If you have more questions I suggest to join the users group at Yahoo. Success !
@KI6JLD At :50 seconds in the video: WRplus for decoding the audio (which is visible during the second part of the video, at the right top of the screen (version 1.03).
@HighVoltageG33k SSB-SP-2000 SSB ELECTRONICS 2m Masthead Pre-amp * Freq. 144-146MHz * Gain 10-20dB * Noise 0.8dB and no extra filters. You need to set in the FCD controller "defaults"and then adjust LNA gain. Please email me directly if you have more questions (pa3guo at amsat dot org)
I like the demo but what put me off it and watching it to the end as with many videos on youtube is the annoying music we like people to explain about a product or service not just playing music
Interesting to see the Doppler frequency shift!

Can you tell me how you got yours going?

thanks for the Funcube Dongle demo
Very good work and video!

Why did I buy that Uniden Bearcat? This is what I need, I think.
ATV reception is more difficult, as most SDR software does not support wide-band very well. I have not tried this myself though.
Splendid video..greatttt
Leuk ding , kun je er ook ATV mee ontvangen ?
Henk,
Again a nice video from you and good to see a SDR radio in your shack.
I like the 10 elements 70cm yagi :-)

I bought one but it didn't come with the internal music. Should I return it?

Yes, please turn off the unnecessary soundtrack. Your videos are not movies, so they don't need music.
