- The FUNcube Dongle Pro+ is a complete redesign of the original FUNcube Dongle with many performance improvements and additional features.
It covers LF, MF, HF, VHF, UHF and L Band (coverage is 150kHz-240MHz and 420MHz to 1.9GHz), and has an increased frequency span of 192kHz.
It is due to hit the shelves in mid-October. Price £124.99+VAT (Approx. €156 or US$199).

Great demonstration, thanks! Can you please post some information about the antenna you are using during this demo?
Hello Augustin
Not sure where you are. It's GBP 124.99 (+VAT in the EU) which works out to ~€156 or US$199.
Howard
I'm in! This looks like tons of fun.
£ OR 15-20 $ and you can buy the same thing for hundreds less, I know this as I have several scanners and transceivers so your better off getting a normal DVB TV dongle and an up-convertor
Let us not forget what the point of the FCD is: to listen to the FUNcube satellite on 145MHz. Any more is a bonus.
I did consider seemless coverage, but it would add ~GBP £40 to the purchase price. It would need an additional board for either a frequency converter or an additional tuner chip, plus all the preselection filters and band switching. We didn't consider that worth it. Feel free to develop an add-on unit as several others did for the original FCD!
Howard
Looking good Howard. I am looking forward to getting one.
Now, explain how can you type, use a mouse and hold a video camera all at the same time?
Howard this is brilliant!!!! Well done mate.. Count me in for a purchase very soon.. Lee
Nice - I wish seeing a demo with satellites !!
it will be shipping to Canada by the time of release, please describe the type of antenna you used for this demo.
@Mike Willis Unbelievably that was the first take too!
looks like a lot of fun!
Thank you Howard for video. Got my email as on pre-order ... oh the wait ...
I just bought one of these and think it's broken. I get the same info in the scope and waterfall no matter what frequency i set it to.
I have been using a cheap SDR dongle, that works, but not very sensitive and loaded with birds. I just ordered the FunCube Pro! Can't wait! Is there software that can scan programmed channels?
... MUST HAVE THIS!
Can you speak a bit about the antenna you're using, and can this be used as a receive rig in close proximity to a transmitter without cooking anything? Cheers! W7BBQ
Hi friend,
That coin is called a quarter, not a dime.
Thanks for the cool video!
Cheers!
It is, but it can't even buy what a dime did 15 years ago.
Going crazy trying to get this thing to work on a Mac 10.6.8 with the gqrx app ... HELP! someone please make a simple ready-to-run version of gqrx for this... I tried gqrx 2.2 & it finally recognized the funcube (unlike gqrx 0.0 that I started out with), but when I try to turn gqrx on it immediately crashes!! I wanna hear those lower frequencies so bad! I unfortunately can't yet afford to get a newer Mac with what ever the current OS is, so until then...
I love this thing! I gotta have one... THANKS...
WoW a must have for me, what will the price be?
I want one too !
Is it possible to make a funcube that works with the apple iPhone or iPad connector? I use many Apple iOS apps connected to my HT and or Mobile Yaesu 857 to decode , APRS, PSK, SSTV, and HF weather but I cannot find an app for AFSK AX.25. Do you know of anyone working on this!? The developers I spoke with say that the problem is the baud speed 12000 I think?
Do you use several antennas to cover the wide frequency range covered?
Thanks for the video I've seen it several times. I need some help that you might be able to provide. I destroyed my windows install using "zadig? with my rtl-sdr (selected the wrong device). Is it possible for you to look in device manager and get the name of the correct driver? I can force install it if I know it's name. Thanks.
what is CPU usage when using it as SDR server hardware?
All very true, I guess I was being a bit flippant ! - though 2.4 ghz (23cm) would be useful for satellites....

Hi - interesting
hi Janic did you get it yet?
gw7ted
Ive just ordered mine...and I notice you use an ACER I also use a Acer laptop.
Can you download the signals/information?
pity it has a gap between 240-420mhz
where is R2-D2 when you really need him?
( at least, in the meantime, I have the classic RTL-SDR... which is still fun)... maybe I need to buy my first Windows PC since I've seen a lot more options/applications demonstrated on them for cool things like tracking aircraft... like the sdr sharp or whatever it's called... I unfortunately just don't know anything about coding or using terminal apps which seems to be necessary to do some of this stuff... I have a deep geeky love for radio spectrum listening as I always have for the last 30+ years, but, like I said, I don't know ANYTHING about coding or programming, hence the reason I begged for a simple solution in my first comment... sigh ;(
is this insted of a rig can you talk back to people
Price is to high for me.
why is there gaps ? you can get proper software run scanners with NO gaps for less than this expensife dongle.
and regular gapless scanners for less too, its Far to expensive !
Yes. 13cm would be v nice... one day maybe.
Howard
Oops 13cm - finger trouble.... ;-)
These dongles are just selling on hype like the latest film, not much too them that you cant do for a lot less mone4y and I mean a lot less BY FAR
So.. "Funky dongle" is how's pronounced.
