I'm retired Air Force I just got back from visiting Osan Air Base for a week. I've been to Osan at least once a decade since the 80's so I've seen all the changes. The one thing I noticed during my visit last week is how much the once exciting atmosphere has died. Walking on base is like walking in a morgue. Off base was the same too. There used to be the pulse of life that emanated all over and around Osan. That's gone now. To be honest it was real exciting in 89-90. Less exciting in 93-94. Fairly dull in 06-11 so this must be a continuation of the decline. But wow, it was a really lonely experience walking around all my old haunts. Thankfully I did strike up a conversation with a fellow Comm warrior, Josh. Definitely a good NCO. Finally, I just had to run up the steep stairs up by the KCOIC one more time, something I did almost daily back in 93. At 59 I felt pretty lousy for 2 days afterwards. Goodbye Osan, you once were a great base!
I remember being stationed in Osan AB for about a year and involuntarily extended for 4 more months. It was a great location. It was beautiful, I do miss it very much. I was in the army, but there was a unit connected and stayed in Osan AB which is an Air Force base as far as I remember.
I was there in 2011-2012 and I don't remember that middle school. Is it new or did I just have THAT good of a time? The parking garage across the street has a running track on top. Osan is a nice base. I'd enjoy going back and revisiting some old friends.
I didn't recognize anything lol, 1990 was a long time ago.....Where are the cop dorms now? We used to be at the top of the hill near the main gate over by the JAG offices I think.
I got an assignment notification to osan after I leave Andersen I’m really excited tbh osan looks SO much better than Andersen. Unfortunate Andersen is very neglected and the base facilities are very poor
Jocelle Rebollar .....i am a woman, just to let u know😁& i have a friend Hyon who lives in Hawaii now, her husband is retired Army & i met her 1st in Korea near Wijonbu in 1986, she is a godly woman
Hi Ms.Rebollar- I'm trying to find out if I can post some videos of us playing tennis in Osan AB on my account just wanted to ask if you had a chance to confirm w anyone or if you have knowledge about posting guidelines for some of these videos- I had guards asking me to turn off the recording on my car so wasn't sure if video recording was allowed on base. Thank you!!
@@jocellerebollar Thanks for the quick response! Hmm but tennis courts are technically not an indoor facility though...outside just like many of the buildings that are shown on this video so I wasn't sure what the guidelines were...also, ua-cam.com/video/iEhIE2Y7RQc/v-deo.html this girl's been recording far more than just buildings (including the INSIDE of her office) and there are other videos of ppl recording inside their mil housing + dorms so i'm kinda confused. actually very.
Hi there!! I was just wondering if you could give me any info on how to be supported out there as a spouse since its normally unaccompanied do you just move out there yourself? Thank you! :)
Hi. We just got airbnb offbase but I had sofa. Korea is just short tour so its usually unaccompanied but with exceptions if you have kids. Better to ask your spouse's first shirt.

Was there from 82-84, live by the NCO club and tank farm. The walls were paper thin and freaking cold in the Vietnam style barracks.
Wow what a difference from 1957 when I was there with huts and oil stoves that caught on fire once in a while.
This is even quite different from when I was there in 1999-2000

I was stationed at osan from July 1983 to July 85. Rewarding assignment. Love the Korean people

Wow! What a shock from when I was there in 1962!!!
I used to walk up and down this road from our Tent City to downtown Songtan and back in around 1984/5 TDY from Clark..
I lived there as a child 80-85, moved back after high school in Texas and got a job at the tour office 98-02. I miss it.
Good memories!
Base has really changed since I was there 72-73,75-78
Yes, it truly did :)
Sure looks different, I was stationed at Osan in 85-86 CES Heat Shop. Songtan was a lot more underdeveloped. Spent a lot of time at the Golden Gate.

Awesome content! I made a video without dubbing if you are curious how SED looks like now.
Nostalgia
Was there in kindergarten
I spent 4 years at Osan AB. 76-77, 80-83. I like Korea but don't think i could live there, too cold. Rather be in Pattaya or Danang.
Yes, it is too cold but I really like the food!
@@jocellerebollar Me too!!!
The front gates look exactly the same from 96.
Wow!

I don't think so. I am not even allowed to film inside the commi. So i guess its the same with other facilities. For safety reasons.

Were you non-command sponsored? Is that why you said this is where command sponsored families live? Thank you and God bless

You might have discovered this already but normally if you get sponsored out there it becomes a 24 month assignment at minimum.
i am a korean and i will be working at chilis. do i need id card to use bx??
Hi. It's best to ask your supervision about it.
