I tend to do that myself. I did have a Korg Synthesizer back in the 80's to mid 90's that had pressure after touch that allowed vibrato by quickly changing the pressure.
Riders on the Storm is definitely one of their most important songs! Awesome work my man! I was wondering if you ever come back to the Doors in the future, you should do one Light my Fire!
Hi, I’m not a keyboard player, but I can’t begin to tell you just how much I enjoyed watching this video. Just fantastic! I love this song (I was around when it first came out). I loved it then, and it is still an incredible song to this day. Your deconstruction/re-creation of the song’s introduction, verses, origin, dark mood, and guitar and keyboard solos only served to enhance my appreciation that much more. I’ve always been impressed with your incredible musical ability, on multi instruments, but you hit a home run with this video lesson. I’ve saved it, and I’ll share it with my many Doors’ friends. I don’t know the musical term for it, but it’s like musical onomatopoeia when the image of rainfall is played. Cat Stevens employs this technique in “Sad Lisa”, and The Cascades do the same in “Rhythm of the Rain”, as does Sir Paul in “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey”. I’m not name dropping; I’m just citing songs that use this technique to create a particular mood. I’d like to know the name of this technique if you know it, please. Thank you for the excellent, entertaining, and enlightening video. Similar videos on iconic songs would be greatly appreciated. I have watched some (Anna, Go to Him), but others would also be enjoyed and appreciated.
I always dreamed of learning to play the piano or grand piano and I had a unique opportunity to play the steinway every day, I focused on learning the moon sonata, learned a small part, and now within a week I’m learning to play this piece, this track is just something, thanks for the tutorial, I’ll practice
Hey Pilgrim, Would love to see some videos on Frank Zappa! Such a brilliant guitarist that goes un-noticed on UA-cam because of his unique overall output. Songs like Watermelon on Easter Hay for example, that would make a great video.
Mr. Pilgrim. You hit it out of the park again. I had no idea you had the piano chops under your belt as well. I am blow away with your style, attitude and talent. You are a gift to my ears and eyes. I love your Stratocaster and piano. The Strat is a unique color and it looks great on you. I would love to find one like just like that. I have five Strats I love including the new Elite series and a couple of mid 1990s Plus series with the lovely sounding Lace Sensors. Do you know what color your Strat is. I can't seem to match it up with the Fender charts. Close but no cigar. Its just a great guitar with an exception artist plugged into it. Love your music JD-PA-USA
Hi Gerald, thanks for your kind comment, I think the color of my stratocaster is called 'Olympic white'. Did you say you own five strats? ha, that is amazing! I always say, one can never own too many guitars!
I’m from Spain, and let me tell you something bro; AWESOME. Actually I don’t know what to say... I have no words. Watching your video has been a pleassure for me. My best band ever. And you explain it so well... Congratulations bro, you can’t imagine how much I’ve enjoyed your video. THANKS!!!!
great lesson, I also like the nod to Kerouac in the background. One of Jim's favorite writers, I too ended up reading all those because of him, and On the Road was so good.
I got to on the road, same as you because of reading Jim Morrisons biography, On the road changed my life, I wouldn't never have left the Netherlands if it wasn't for that book
@@GuitarPilgrim I was reading Jerry Sugarman's, No one here get's out alive, and Kerouac the same winter I got my first Martin Sigma acoustic lefty, twenty five years ago. I just got a keyboard and I am trying to get new muscle memory. I have Saxophone, trumpet, harmonica, guitar, and bass learned to at least the edge of advanced. This just has to be one of the first things I learn to play on the keys.
@@GuitarPilgrim You're Dutch? I'm not surprised... on my first trip to Amsterdam in 1996 I was amazed that all the locals I interacted with spoke better English than most Americans, including me! In any case, this is my first time on your channel (courtesy of the UA-cam algorithm) and I love your presentation style, knowledge, and talent. P.S. What model Roland is that? It's gorgeous.
Legendary Song, Legendary Band. Awesome song, thanks for highlighting it. I can listen to that song all day and all night.. and have..lol.. Not sure you can top this one, or equal it in your next episode. Keep them coming and keep them simple. ;o)
I think it would be great if you did a video for ‘The End’ by the Doors. A video breaking down all the licks on tab then discussing how to improvise licks like how Robbie Krieger often did during live performances.
LA Woman was the last with Morrison, but IT WAS NOT the last Doors album...the surviving members soldiered on for two more albums, Other Voices in 1971, and Full Circle in 1972. Yeah, they are an acquired taste, but there are a few good tracks scattered across the 2 albums. Also there was An American Prayer in 1978, which was the surviving 3 adding newly written music to previous recorded spoken word performances of Jim Morrison reciting his poetry.
Thank you very much, cool...! Sir, can I ask you something? Can you please do a tutorial for I'm in the Mood from John Lee Hooker/Bonnie Raitt? I owe you, big time...!!!
I want to learn to play Riders on the Storm on a keyboard. Will accessing your TABS help me learn to play the song on the keyboard or are tabs used only for the guitar? Your video on playing Rider on the Storm is excellent. Is sheet music available? Thanks.
Hello, am wondering if the left hand for this song needs to line up with the right hand in specific areas, or is there a lot of room to just play both freely? While I can play both hands well normally, I struggle with this one.
Your delivery is very inteligent and entertaining. I don’t even like the Doors, and I was hooked from the beginning. Awesome, thank you. Just curious, you don’t get demonetized by the “powers” for these tutorials? I hope not!
Fun fact .. If you listen closely to the song , they double Jim's voice with a haunting , whispering vocal... awesome !!! ...they have just that vocal track avail on utube...producer Paul Rothchild...brilliant
@@GuitarPilgrim Ray Charles would be awesome... he was all about the 7th and 9th chords. Paul McCartney had some really good piano tunes during his solo career... he integrated Pop/Rock/Blues really well.
Some UA-cam channels. Have like an instant automatic link thing to donate money to them. It seems that makes it much easier than it is to donate to you
Just came across this. I’m sure you meant to say Amin 2nd inversion and not confusingly just Am. The whole “lesson” seems designed to obfuscate and frustrate.

I love the doors, first heard this song, from the game Need For Speed: Underground 2 as a little child, and I was really enthralled by the magical Keyboard work of Mr. Ray Manzareck, just classic!
I know I'm not a patreon supporter or anything haha, But I suggest you doing a video about Led Zeppelin and/or Jimmy Page, That'd be really awesome man. Hope your channel grows, cause you deserve many subscribers for the content you put out

You are even more soothing to watch when playing piano... Great work, keep it up!
hello tabs won't open
Ray Manzareck was in my opinion one of the greatest bass player ever ...yes I know he played keyboard.
Ray was so good he could play bass with one hand tied behind his back.
Agreed, he’s the goat of rock n roll keyboard
Ray was da man!
What a great musician
You are love the white piano
I love how you try to create a vibrato out of muscle memory on the piano
ha, I didn't even know my hand were doing that, until I saw the video myself!

I fell in love with Light My Fire in 3 different decades. Also love Jose Feliciano's version.
