I think they weren't very aware of the impact the song had on the fandom and maybe that's why they never included it in the shows... despite the musical complications involved in making it, I think it would have been unforgettable to hear it live

This song is from Map of the Soul: 7 along with Black Swan, Interlude: Shadow and We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal. They wrote these songs when they were really tired from performing and they were facing burnout. They wanted to focus on their solo careers before they enlist in 2020 but Korean government let them perform two years more before the enlistment. When you listen to this song without stopping and when you feel the emotions they try to deliver to us, ARMY through this song, you feel overwhelmed with emotions, you want to cry. You can feel how empty, tired and burned out they feel. It's a cry for help. They gave us wonderful two years more but let's not forget what they said during Festa 2022, especially RM and Suga. They have suffered for a long time putting a mask for us. Yeah it had become a bit of a joke in the fandom that Louder Than Bombs is like one of the poor forgotten children because BTS never acknowledged it or performed it after the release of MOTS 7, but fans love it so much 😂 There's a really funny Run BTS episode where the members had to guess responses to an ARMY survey conducted beforehand and one of the questions was what song fans most wanted to see performed. They were all so surprised to see Louder Than Bombs there lol I think that's when it first came onto their radar. Thanks for giving your thoughts on the production and arrangement! So, I haven't read all the comments, so please forgive me if this is redundant: This song is one of those sacred spaces that BTS builds for army. BTS is expressing how hard it is to know that behind the happy, shouting crowd, we all have pain. ARMY has shared that pain with BTS through letters and posts, and RM struggled with what his place was, what possible help he could be to all of these people who look to BTS for comfort. They can't make it better, and they can't take it away, but they promise to sing for us.

I think it's the complex singing, layers and distortion that would make it challenging. ARMY loves this song but it's like BTS barely remembers it. There's a live that JK was doing where everyone was adding requests for him to sing and after reading "Louder Than Bombs" he was almost like, did we do that song?!? He had no idea of the lyrics and acted completely shocked when it played. LOL So funny. I love this song!
To sing softer on pitch it takes a sturdy diaphragm full of breath as it is harder to sing softly than just belting a song. So dance movements and proper breathing exercises to maintain the dynamics of this song would be really strenuous. They kill it in their openings and stay intense throughout the rest of a concert. They would have to be totally relaxed to deliver this song with all the passion it deserves in BTS's standard of excellence. We will see in the future. I would love to see and hear this in a concert. Toward the end of concerts, BTS has ARMY TIME, they are already spent physically and emotionally top it would be hard to perform. Every song has a place in the lineup. RM wrote the lyrics and did a lot of crying while writing. He said after reading the messages from ARMY and seeing all their hardships and hearing about their pain he wanted to let them know it will be okay eventually, don't quit living. That is what really makes this song powerful because not only has BTS suffered pain they empathize with the fans so delivering this message could be an emotional roller coaster for both - the placement of the song would need a lot of energy. Though the song sounds simple to those who do not understand the voice, body, and emotion to deliver it takes a lot of good breathing and pitch placement.

This is such a sad song but with hope. Thinking about their original plan of finishing their chapter one after releasing this album and world tour in 2020....the song is a promise that will come back even stronger and better. By far the only promise they broke is due to COVID....so in 2025 their reunion, we can expect not just BTS but ARMY together will sing louder than any bomb.

As terrible as the pandemic was/is especially because of the loss of life I wish it hadn't happened, but at the same time BTS accomplished so much during the pandemic and I'm happy for all they did for the fans over the last almost 3 years.
I dunno if anyone's said this yet, but in a Vlive he did he said it was also a really emotional song and they weren't confident they could do it properly and control the emotions as well as make it sound good, like you said. I don't remember which it was, but it was when they were in the old building, it was around the time of the pande I think. This song and We are Bulletproof: The Eternal make me tear up every time. If they come up in shuffle while I'm in public I have to skip them. LOL
I think it's not about the singing or what you say voice techniques but I think it's about the the song itself.. Live band is not an issue for them because they always have a live band Like the message of the song itself I think if they sing this it would turn into an emotional tearful performance. I appreciate your perspective and it makes all the sense in the world. I think staging this song would mean revising it to some extent - totally possible, but a challenge. So much of its magic is in the production and wouldn't translate. That said, I would love to see a stripped-down live studio performance, the way they've done for a few other songs, just them and some microphones and a small band. No backing track. I think it would be a really haunting performance - and that setup would help overcome some of those technical difficulties. I know a lot of folks are saying they're avoiding the emotional content, but I haven't seen them shy away from emotional songs. They performed Spring Day in Busan - and Butterfly - as they said goodbye to us for a few years. They cry onstage. And they have quite a few songs that are about heartbreak and grief. I think this one just slipped through the cracks - it was meaningful, they recorded it, but then they moved on. It wasn't written for the stage and they knew that. It really is gorgeous though.
But the thing is, Namjoon never said they’ll never perform it, it’s just “a hard song”. I think BTS is capable of this song. They’ve shown us some pretty awesome live performances and they’re still evolving.
Love your perspective as a musician and singer as to why LTB wouldn't translate the same way live. I always thought LTB would sound amazing with a full orchestra. The rise and fall of each verse. The crescendo of the chorus and the end complimented by strings. Just a fantasy at this point. LOL
I agree. An orchestra would be phenomenal on it. Like Chris Stapleton's 'Cold'. He uses the orchestra to create an 'airy' atmosphere to the song. BTS could use one to create the 'haunting' atmosphere. It would sound stunning.
I've watched lots of ur reaction vids over BTS before I wrote this. We're on the same boat 😂😂😂 I grew up in an underground music scene, played in several punk & hardcore bands, orginized some underground music gigs & sort, used to only listen to heavier music like punk rock, hardcore, metal, gothic rock, u name it. Now, I'm a mother of 3 & accidentally fell for BTS about 4 years ago. But I never regret that. Thankfully I have a very supportive husband who never look down on me for becoming an ARMY of BTS. He's also a musician & plays in some bands. We pretty much have the same taste of music as we live in the same scene since we were younger. But he really appreciates me for being part of BTS ARMY while some of my friends said that I was a "betrayer" 😂😂😂
My 7 yr old absolutely loves this song. I do also enjoy it, I think it's quite pretty. Personally I think Jimin's high vocals (my kiddos favorite) and Jin's might be unnatural or more forced? Idk. I watched a concert vid with my little and noticed Jimin tends to have a deeper voice live. It makes me wonder if Jin and Jimin has the "machine pressed" vocals, meaning the production, management etc kind of forces them to sing higher. 🤔 idk. I know nothing about what I'm talking about, but I do know specifically Jimin seems he's likely naturally a tone lower than what he sings in. I really love the chorus. It's easy to get stuck in my head for weeks, it's just beautiful.
Kookie did tried to sing it a bit in one of his karaoke lives with army 💜 but he didn’t remember it so well rs There’s Paradise too, that because they know it by the Korean name, when army was asking for him to sing he wasn’t recognizing as one of their songs 😅
I think they could swing doing it live if it's not in front of a live audience. No need to worry about bouncing noise, making sure the audio is audible over a crowd, etc. They could do it almost like they have done their festa lives. Along with other songs they haven't done live as well. Like Paradise, Seas, Path. Wouldn't that be amazing?

I think they themselves didn't know the impact this song had on Armys. This is me speculating but I think by the time they realised how much Army wanted to see this live, they had the setlists for their upcoming concerts prepared so introducing this in it was probably difficult. Knowing BTS & how they tease armys with some of their releases I have a feeling that whenever they comeback as a group in or after 2025 to do a concert, they will probably do this song. Obviously it's a hard song to sing live but maybe who knows👀
Maybe it's hard not just from a musicality standpoint. It may be an emotional one for them and they may not want to do that type of emotion on stage. Who knows. All I know is it's beautiful!
This song was written after RM read the life stories of the Army... This song seemed difficult to write emotionally, he wrote it over 3 months .... So feeling those emotions again on stage seemed too much I think....
i always felt like it's just a lot of leg work for jimin in particular and he doesn't get much of a break going so high on that chorus and bts would rather things be more equal instead of completely straining one member in particular i feel like it might be easier if it was just one song and performance (kind of like what they did with mtv) but a whole concert might be tough because it's not a song to start out with to hype of the crowd and if it's the last song they will be all exhausted

I think they could do a good job of it in a setting like the NPR Tiny Desk Concert they did in 2020. But it definitely wouldn't resonate the same in an Arena, the sound would be all off.
This is ARMY's *NUMBER ONE* top request for them to do live (it even came up in a Run BTS poll), but BTS kinda cringes every time it comes up. One of them (Suga, maybe?) has mentioned that it's pitched *really* high, even for them, and it does have a lot of close harmony and unusual intervals that it might be tough to nail live. I also have to wonder what choreo for it might look like... on the one hand, the music is pretty sexy with that almost sub-audible bass and those thick layered harmonies, but the lyrics are haunting and resolute, which doesn't match that vibe at all (part of what makes the song so amazing, to me). Tho' honestly, they could do it straight-up concert style and we'd be deliriously happy.

JK can pull off anything. The breathiest of them all, he can do it while running :D literally. Also he can back up others that may not be the most successful with it. Also, they mostly use live band LIVE so.... Yeah. I think they could pull it off but they're known perfectionists so it might be hard to be satisfied with their own performance.

Thanks for your great reaction. I love this song so much. The vocals are amazing. My favourite members are the rap line with Suga my bias. His rap always adds drama and passion to a song. My favourite from the vocal line is Jimin because his ethereal vocals add a wonderful contrast to Suga's dramatic rap style. That is really evident in this song.
I think the dificulty is the emotional side. They wrote this song at a time they were down, depressed. They are better now and perform this beautiful dark song would be difficult. But this song is a masterpiece for me. I cry every time, this song touch my heart. 💜💜💜

As terrible as the pandemic was/is especially because of the loss of life I wish it hadn't happened, but at the same time BTS accomplished so much during the pandemic and I'm happy for all they did for the fans over the last almost 3 years.

I dunno if anyone's said this yet, but in a Vlive he did he said it was also a really emotional song and they weren't confident they could do it properly and control the emotions as well as make it sound good, like you said. I don't remember which it was, but it was when they were in the old building, it was around the time of the pande I think. This song and We are Bulletproof: The Eternal make me tear up every time. If they come up in shuffle while I'm in public I have to skip them. LOL
I think it's not about the singing or what you say voice techniques but I think it's about the the song itself..
Live band is not an issue for them because they always have a live band

I appreciate your perspective and it makes all the sense in the world. I think staging this song would mean revising it to some extent - totally possible, but a challenge. So much of its magic is in the production and wouldn't translate.
That said, I would love to see a stripped-down live studio performance, the way they've done for a few other songs, just them and some microphones and a small band. No backing track. I think it would be a really haunting performance - and that setup would help overcome some of those technical difficulties.
I know a lot of folks are saying they're avoiding the emotional content, but I haven't seen them shy away from emotional songs. They performed Spring Day in Busan - and Butterfly - as they said goodbye to us for a few years. They cry onstage. And they have quite a few songs that are about heartbreak and grief.
I think this one just slipped through the cracks - it was meaningful, they recorded it, but then they moved on. It wasn't written for the stage and they knew that.
It really is gorgeous though.
But the thing is, Namjoon never said they’ll never perform it, it’s just “a hard song”. I think BTS is capable of this song. They’ve shown us some pretty awesome live performances and they’re still evolving.
Love your perspective as a musician and singer as to why LTB wouldn't translate the same way live. I always thought LTB would sound amazing with a full orchestra. The rise and fall of each verse. The crescendo of the chorus and the end complimented by strings. Just a fantasy at this point. LOL

I agree. An orchestra would be phenomenal on it. Like Chris Stapleton's 'Cold'. He uses the orchestra to create an 'airy' atmosphere to the song. BTS could use one to create the 'haunting' atmosphere. It would sound stunning.

I grew up in an underground music scene, played in several punk & hardcore bands, orginized some underground music gigs & sort, used to only listen to heavier music like punk rock, hardcore, metal, gothic rock, u name it.
Now, I'm a mother of 3 & accidentally fell for BTS about 4 years ago. But I never regret that.
Thankfully I have a very supportive husband who never look down on me for becoming an ARMY of BTS. He's also a musician & plays in some bands. We pretty much have the same taste of music as we live in the same scene since we were younger. But he really appreciates me for being part of BTS ARMY while some of my friends said that I was a "betrayer" 😂😂😂

Personally I think Jimin's high vocals (my kiddos favorite) and Jin's might be unnatural or more forced? Idk.
I watched a concert vid with my little and noticed Jimin tends to have a deeper voice live. It makes me wonder if Jin and Jimin has the "machine pressed" vocals, meaning the production, management etc kind of forces them to sing higher. 🤔 idk. I know nothing about what I'm talking about, but I do know specifically Jimin seems he's likely naturally a tone lower than what he sings in.

I think they could swing doing it live if it's not in front of a live audience. No need to worry about bouncing noise, making sure the audio is audible over a crowd, etc. They could do it almost like they have done their festa lives. Along with other songs they haven't done live as well. Like Paradise, Seas, Path. Wouldn't that be amazing?

I think they themselves didn't know the impact this song had on Armys. This is me speculating but I think by the time they realised how much Army wanted to see this live, they had the setlists for their upcoming concerts prepared so introducing this in it was probably difficult. Knowing BTS & how they tease armys with some of their releases I have a feeling that whenever they comeback as a group in or after 2025 to do a concert, they will probably do this song. Obviously it's a hard song to sing live but maybe who knows👀

This song was written after RM read the life stories of the Army... This song seemed difficult to write emotionally, he wrote it over 3 months .... So feeling those emotions again on stage seemed too much I think....
i always felt like it's just a lot of leg work for jimin in particular and he doesn't get much of a break going so high on that chorus and bts would rather things be more equal instead of completely straining one member in particular
i feel like it might be easier if it was just one song and performance (kind of like what they did with mtv) but a whole concert might be tough because it's not a song to start out with to hype of the crowd and if it's the last song they will be all exhausted

I think from the video they did, they were surprised to hear Army wanted to hear this song. They were all shocked and said they would make sure to add it to their performances. But, I think that was very shortly before the enlistments when they had to pause everything. I think they can do this fine.
I think the key is difficult and hard to sing live. I can't remember which member said that. They usually have a live band in concert. There are so many vocal layers they would probably need a backing track. ARMYs were hoping they would sing it at the BUSAN concert but now I think we will never hear it live. A new chapter... 💜

I think they could do a good job of it in a setting like the NPR Tiny Desk Concert they did in 2020. But it definitely wouldn't resonate the same in an Arena, the sound would be all off.
That’s what I was thinking. In a controlled type setting so that it could sound as great as possible.

This is ARMY's *NUMBER ONE* top request for them to do live (it even came up in a Run BTS poll), but BTS kinda cringes every time it comes up. One of them (Suga, maybe?) has mentioned that it's pitched *really* high, even for them, and it does have a lot of close harmony and unusual intervals that it might be tough to nail live.
I also have to wonder what choreo for it might look like... on the one hand, the music is pretty sexy with that almost sub-audible bass and those thick layered harmonies, but the lyrics are haunting and resolute, which doesn't match that vibe at all (part of what makes the song so amazing, to me).
Tho' honestly, they could do it straight-up concert style and we'd be deliriously happy.

Yes I feel like it would be difficult to perform live bc it changes a lot like the beat and like just standing it singing it would look awkward in my opinion and dancing would make it so much harder live I’m not saying they can’t do it but like it’s just a difficult song to perform by itself bts or someone else but adding dancing to it would make it to much I can’t see dancing to this song idk why and just standing wouldn’t match the vibe of the song it has a sexy vibe but the lyrics are kind of sad so I think it would be to much to portray live

'Louder Than Bombs' was co-written with artist Troye Sivan, apart from RM, SUGA, j-Hope and other professional contributors. This song appears to be symbolizing the loudness of bombs to two things: pain and success. In the first chorus, BTS say how they go through a significant suffering, described as breaking louder than bombs. It can depict result or noise of how BTS took pain, fear, hardships as if those are bombs that dropped in the position of their height while moving past them, AND it also denotes having much louder cheer of success and chants of support as they carry on stronger, they're determined to achieve better days and greater things to come their way.

Thanks for your great reaction. I love this song so much. The vocals are amazing. My favourite members are the rap line with Suga my bias. His rap always adds drama and passion to a song. My favourite from the vocal line is Jimin because his ethereal vocals add a wonderful contrast to Suga's dramatic rap style. That is really evident in this song.
