If it is that the lake contains no water than the statement is a mixed metaphor: "not a lake" meaning it literally isn't a lake and "its an ocean" indicating the greater scope of the darkness.
I stumbled upon this chamnel and every video that I have seen here has left me entertained and educated. Excellent stuff, keep it up brother.
Regarding the lake/ocean distinction, my take is that a lake is wholly within the same land; something you can conceivably walk around. Whereas an ocean is something that connects separate landmasses - there's something entirely different on the other side and the ocean is the medium between you and it.
Oh btw: only Control and Alan Wake are officially in the Remedy Connected Universe. Quantum Break and Max Payne don't belong to Remedy, they belong to Microsoft & Take Two Interactive/Rockstar. As it stands, they are not a part of the RCU.
However, you'll still find some vague and some not so vague allusions to these two games in their work sometimes.
It's honestly incredible how well the two series compliment each other. Control is the larger picture, the paranatural from a detached, bureaucratic perspective. There, the horror is more existential, of scientists & government officials futilely trying to categorize something that is not meant to be firmly understood. Alan Wake is the story from the perspective of those personally involved with the supernatural. As a result, we are reminded of how truly terrifying and destructive paranatural events are to those who have not made a career of covering them up. What's essentially the SCP Foundation and a Stephen King story should not have melded together this well, but Remedy managed to pull it off and I'm giving them all the credit for that.
This video brought me into the Alan Wake iceberg. After seeing another video from Suggestive Gaming who made a video about the timeline of Alan Wake and Control connected universe, and d**n... the story is actually extremely amazing. To add, based on how it sounds, Alan Wake himself is the one writing all these things all in hopes of finally escaping the place he's trapped in.
A video essay about conspiracy theories and certainty whose subject is from a universe with an organisation called the Federal Bureau of Control with their Motto being "Find, Research, Control."
Beginning to crawl to the end of Alan Wake 2. This will be perfect to watch after I've had dinner :)
Peep that Dark Tower shelf
i'd like to watch this video but i still haven't played the game sorry bro
Me too, I really like story street and would like to see him succeed but he needs to think in terms of relevance and notoriety. And this game right here is not at all popular, therefore many people will care not to watch this essay.
And needless to say, UA-cam is a numbers game.
@@W_CPT I didn't watch the video to avoid spoilers because i heard that alan wake is a really good game but i understand what you are saying and you are right but i think he should also make videos about whatever he enjoys and is passionate about. i'll watch every video he makes (even if niche) because he's talented and he puts his heart into them.
I don’t think you understand how hard you cooked in this video. I’ve analyzed every scrap of information from Alan Wake 1 to AWE DLC to Alan Wake 2…. *and yet* you’ve given us two answers here I was uncertain :
“Clicker works because Alan believes it works” - Control explains Altered Items gain power thru subconscious belief/iconography- you nailed this one.
Taken possess a shadowy distorted figure because of two possible reasons:
A - when we dissociate in our ‘dark place’ we see everyone as 2D, hence repeating their 'npc' work dialogue, less human/robotic in your perception.
B - when we enter our ‘dark place’ we ourselves seem more robotic to the outside world, lost in our day-to-day, zoning out at work repeating corporate dialogue.
Which seems more valid to you ?
The AWE expansion for control is all about wake and its awesome
Both the endings for Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2 are masterfully examples of absurdist horror. And meta horror.
Great video! But I want to suggest making a story review on marvel's spider man 2(the new game that came out this year, 2023) because I really loved your first review on marvel's spider man 1 2018's story.
HOLY FACE REVEAL, BATMAN!
Do a samurai topknot hairstyle next video
Sorry to go off topic but, what do you think of the Kingdomf of Planet of the Apes trailer? And are you working on a Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 video?
GReat channel i found here.
Which version is better for PC the original or remaster? They are both on sale and the price is not too much of a difference if the remaster is better, but I've read different opinions on the matter. Also, the remaster doesn't have the American Dream DLC included, is it fun and should it be played? Also read people say that it matters to the story and that it doesn't matter to the story.
The differences are mostly visual. Better lipsyncing, updated character models and a bunch of nicer assets. I personally prefer the original but that's probably just because I've played it a ton since release. Just check out some videos and decide which one looks better to you.
American Nightmare is officially canon but barely. I'm 15 hours into AW2 and so far it really hasn't made an impact. It's a fun little spin-off but it can get repetitive. I'd say finish the original and if the combat is still fun for you give American Nightmare a shot.
I'd say that the Remaster is better on the basis of it having fixed graphics (Alice Wake isn't a hideous monster from the uncanny valley anymore!), removed the product placement (you don't know that Duracell sponsored it this time with every battery pack you pick up!), and Ilka Villi being the facial model for Alan Wake, like with all the other games. As for American Nightmare, it's a fun and interesting Tarantino-esque action game that ultimately doesn't really impact the larger story, but it's a neat spin-off to look into.
When will you talk about the last of us 2? Great channel!
Wus poppin
Face reveal 😧
Actually he appeared in another video but it's now deleted 🤓☝️
