    I love your daily life videos! And you are the best source of knowledge on O5 out there. My daughter is getting hers this week. She's been on MDIs for a year so this will be her first experience with a pump! 🤞🏻

    So i started on the Omnipod 5 a week ago... I LOVE IT SOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! I am coming from MDIs and to switch over and to feel more in control of my sugars makes me feel so much more normal. I was waking up to highs after sleeping like 200s for no reason at all. After the switch to the pump, I have been in the 80s-90s and it is just amazing. Eating and not seeing crazy spikes anymore has been a blessing. I could go on about it forever. I am so happy that I made the switch. My only gripe is the size. I know it has become smaller since the introduction of Omnipod, but being in ICU nurse, I would love to have something more out of the way that wasn't jutting off of me the way it does. Other than that, baby I love this thing!!!

    Just wanted to leave a comment to say I recently discovered your Instagram and your UA-cam channel and it is making me feel really motivated to try to get a firmer control over my blood sugar. I have been diabetic for almost ten years, but was never great at managing it. Since New Year, I have been trying hard to improve, and my HBA1C is the lowest it has been in a long time! And a big motivator in this has been people like you online who are sharing their own experiences and calmly (at least externally!) dealing with high and low blood sugars, and talking through exactly why they are doing what they are doing. It makes me think "Well if they can do it, I can too". Last year I was so afraid of low blood sugars that I did not leave my house if I was below 180. Being in range scared me, because it meant that if I was to fall at all, I would be low. Seeing you and others happy that your blood sugar is as low as 90 when out and about is encouraging me to be confident in this too. I hope you know how helpful your content is, and how appreciative a lot of us are for you!

      HI!!! I love this!! I’m so honored to play a part I. Your journey, and so happy that you’re making progress and feeling good!! I had a really similar path- was diagnosed when I was 5 but really only got the motivation to get firmer control after seeing other people do it!! I’m so glad you’re here!! Sending so much love and please keep me updated on how you’re doing!💛💛💛

    I'm waiting for the release of the omnipod 5 here in Australia as this one interests me and I'm considering insulin pump therapy for because I'm on multiple daily injections 🙂 and I'm Celiac and the veggie burger because it is gluten free sounds very appealing to me 🙂 and from a UA-camr I follow on UA-cam said always pack more than you need in terms of Diabetes supplies

    The Omnipod 5 is so good at preventing lows!!! As a pregnant T1D I wish I could set a lower blood sugar goal (110 is almost a little high for me) but it does help not to constantly be having micro corrections for lows and then going high, etc... You know the rollercoaster :)

    Two things, You mentioned Express Scripts is where you get your Omni Pod 5 from. Did your Endo just put the script in? I have scores scripts too so I am glad about that. Second thing, do you have to have the controller with you at all times in close proximity to the pump when you are not planning eating or making bolus adjustments?

    • @megtypeone
      @megtypeone  Рік тому +1

      Yes! I have to do prior authorization and all that but doc gives script to express scripts!
      and no controller does not have to be with you for automated mode to work (pod talks directly to dexcom), but you do need it near for bolusing/activity mode/other adjustments!

    Recently heard that if you break your PDM and get a new one, the algorithm starts over. True?
    If so, could be a real blow starting on pdm and later migrating to mobile, and the having to relearn the system who you are.

    • @megtypeone
      @megtypeone  2 роки тому

      Yes I have no experienced this but I have heard it’s true too!

      @jamesbiggs6857 Рік тому

      The information you heard is correct. The algorithm is not transferred even if your controller is still functional and you move to the mobile app. I wanted to start with the mobile app but was concerned with the comments listed in the app store. My experience so far with the controller has been very positive. Would be great on one device but the controller seems to keep connections with the pod without issues.

    Hi! I really enjoy your channel. How has your experience been getting the refills of your pods? I hear you have to use a retail pharmacy to get them now instead of getting them via the mail through a medical supply company. Has that been true for you?

    • @megtypeone

    Thanks for the vlog! When placing the Pod and the Dexcom G6 over a 30 day regiment do you find it hard to keep the devices close enough for them to communicate? The every 3 day for the Pod and every 10 days for the Dexcom G6 seems to create an imbalance on where I can move them and still communicate.

    • @courtneyrobinson3465

      This is an interesting one..I have been wondering this myself. On omnipod and libre. But I also get false lows with the libre if laying on that arm or temperatures effect it so wonder if it will be similar with dexcom as this could cause issues for the dosing surely?

    • @megtypeone
      @megtypeone  Рік тому +3

      Not too difficult! There may be a day or two due to changing every 10 vs 3 days where pod and dex are not in direct line of site. When that happens I find it usually loses connection for like 15 minutes out of every hour. So annoying but not terrible to endure for a day or two!

      Can you go into detail a little more about line of sight? I am a newly diagnosed T1. Just 7 months now. I am doing MDI with good “control, “but wanting to try the Omni Pod 5 and I am concerned about the line of sight thing/ same side of the body thing.

    44 years diabetic here and start training for Omnipod 5 Monday. I am not worried about lows too much just because I don't feel lows. So, I am only wondering, does the needle hurt when it inserts? And can I bolus any time I am over 140? Will it allow me to do that? I've never used a pump before

    • @megtypeone

      Hi! I find that omnipod 5 has helped SO MUCH with preventing lows, so I hope you have a similar experience! I don’t find that the needle hurts on insertion! Sometimes just a small pinch! And yes you can bolus when over 140😊

    • @megtypeone
      @megtypeone  Рік тому +1

      Yup! I can feel both a drop and when my sugar is actually low (unless the drop is super gradual). It's hard to describe the feeling, but I guess kind lightheaded and dizzy would be the most accurate.

      Oh yeah I know what you mean. For ne this is the first sign of a low and can be suttle, but in 30 years with diabetes I never realised that it could be actually a dropping feeling. I'll try to take more notice. Cheers🙏
