This was so useful thank you. Really hoping they integrate with Libre 3 soon and lower those target levels on auto mode (to a 4.6mmol-5mmol would be amazing and I think so many more people would switch to Omnipod if this happened as Ypsomed / Cam have managed to get this huge range approved somehow?). iOS App would be great too (when it gets to Europe - please soon!) but the PDM looks really good so not make / break. Thanks so much for this it has helped me with my next pump decision so much and I’ll be asking for Omnipod 5.

Great interview! I’ve been pumping since 1991. Until Feb. of last year, they were MiniMeds. Then for 9 months last year, I was on OmniPod 5. I’ve been on Tandem Tslim since December. Insurance made OmniPod 5 about $1200 a year more expensive for me. I think the 5 is great, but for me, the Tslim is more great. My numbers across the board improved going from MiniMed non auto mode to the 5. When I switched to the Tslim, Control IQ, was even better. Again this was for me. From the 5 to Tslim I went from about 91% in range to 95. My A1C went from 6.1 to 5.6. My standard deviation in the past 90 days is 30. I also don’t have an issue with tubes.
The two are both great. Especially when I remember having to pee into a test tub for urine tests and boiling my syringes (circa 1970). I have no problem recommending the 5, especially if the person has an aversion to tubes.

This is awesome! I’m actually opposite. I had too many rebounds and lows on the t:slim (five years) and switched to the OmniPod 5 for two weeks and haven’t had a low. The target of 110 on T:slim always would surpass it and go low. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Used to have minimed for 16 years and it was okay.

I started with the Cozmo too! I LOVED it! It looked like a small phone and it had Nokia software! I could read and write with it :) was so dissapointed when they discontinued it...

So I’ve had the omnipod failure at the beach before as well! When I called customer support they said excessive sunscreen or lotion on/around the shell can crack it and cause water to leak in. It was helpful information to know!

I'm at the point with my CGM where I have to feel with my hand sometimes to remember where I placed it. I cannot feel it at all unless something's wrong (e.g. my dog bumps it hard, or my seatbelt digs into it, which is quite rare.) I expect I'll have the same experience with the Omnipod within a short period of time.

I have had the T-slim for a while and dislike the tubes always getting hooked on something and the pump itself is fragile screen needs to be better protected so they don’t break. The cartridge gets jammed sometimes. It has some good features but needs major improvements. Would like to try a tubeless system. Don’t know anyone who doesn’t have backup insulin cause these systems fail at times and that goes for CGMs also not totally accurate.

Hi, I’ve been on O5 since November. I’ve been correcting correcting etc. Now my doctor wants me not correct & let the pump do its thing.
Is there a time when I should correct high sugars? Won’t it just keep going up etc ?

Hello What do you think of an additional dose of basal insulin+omnipod to extend the life of the pump? As an example: the normal dose of basal 15 u, you administer only 12-13 + omnipod

The only things that technically affect the algorithm changes after the first pod are the target and the total daily insulin. So the insulin to carb ratios itself doesn’t change the algorithm but the affect of more insulin for those meals will increase. If you don’t eat the system will change if you bolus for higher blood glucose that will change the algorithm in the next few days. Or you don’t eat and you don’t bolus that will affect it.
Food type and carbs aren’t currently considered in the algorithm.

I'm also on an omnipod and I've noticed it leaves puncture scars. They don't fade right away and I'm becoming self conscious because they cover the back of my arms, side of my thighs and tummy. Does this happen to anyone else?
