I love how much of Amon's music has an atonal element to it. There is the main song, then there is an abstract and fairly quiet, yet still noticeable background noise which totally changes the experience of the song
@BlazeTheChronic You're absolutely right. It's from episode 3 from season 8. This is coincidentally my favorite episode of Top Gear. The clip is only about 20 seconds long, but El Cargo starts at ~17:50 when Clarkson presents the Mustang before a race with the mighty Lotus Exige.
This is frickin' amazing. I didn't want the song or the video to end! 5* + Fave My ex-gf from years ago put me on to Amon Tobin.. so after we broke up, I stopped listening to it cuz it all reminded me of her crazy ass. But I think this song has brought me back... I think Amon Tobin and Flying Lotus should collab.
Not only the riff, but some sounds from the intro of the Nektar's song. They're both taken from part I from RTF. Fantastic track, recognizing for once where a sample was taken from, somewhat made me love that song even more!
I get the same feeling, time is like a car you see when you walk on the roud. You expect it to come closer and closer and once it reaches you, it's already gone. If you even blink you miss it. Wish i could live longer in a young body, like atlist 400 years :)
-> acfball: It's ironic: I never was comfortable with the idea of robbing a bank and planting fake emails to make it look like an inside job -- but I LOVED the level design (as well as that of the whole game) ! Simply perfect ...
that was the first thing i think of about SPCT, was the open space the way you could pick the way you compleate the mission, double agent was a let down in the gameplay part because it was not as open. cannot wait to see what UBI montreal (sorry about spelling) do with Conviction.
I agree, altough, the first level theme has a different mix when somebody sees you. And the ingame mix is a lot better. Anyway, the OST CD is still good. Ninja Tune stuff rocks.
i bet nobody knows that Amon sampled the very beginning of his track that strings Pizzicato from Nektar- Remember the future part 1 (find the full version of this song and scroll to 13 minute )
Thank god you wrote this. I thought that something is wrong with my ears that i cant play that song on a guitar and it's just the song is slightly out of usual tune
I ended up getting about $20 in store credit a few weeks ago. I got the Xbox version of Double Agent and Final Fantasy XII. I completed Double Agent a few days ago. I thought I was going to hate that game based on the opening levels, a cramped ice cavern / foundry and an even more cramped prison. The game opened up after that point, as the level design became more nonlinear, so in the end I'm glad I stuck it out. I still miss Chaos Theory's basically perfect, STEALTH-FRIENDLY level design.
Well, thats just me, some years from now, listening to this in my porsche, wearing full black expensive formal wear and a blinking watch.Nightime. The lights of the street reflect from my black glasses as I roll slowly towards some suspiciously seriously looking group of men with silver lugages.
I actually refer to this type of music as "awesome." Or electronica. I don't know, but Amon Tobin is incredible. Check out pretty much any of his albums.
It might also have to do with how many songs the label wanted to license for the album. It is a shame that there isn't more than 10 tracks. I'm assuming that Ubisoft owns the copyrights for the songs, even though Amon did them and usually works with Ninja Tune. Because of that, there may have been issues with licensing a lot of tracks to distribute on the album.
From 1:55 on, this track is wicked! Could have looped 2x every song bars though, this is so good it's never long enough! oh well... lets click on "play"... again...
I'm such a huge fan of the splinter cell series that if the U.S. ever needed a tactical espionage spy like fisher i would like to be the first man for it. I have an obsession over ninjas and espionage spys.
there was supposed to be more music from the game that was supposed to be in the album, but Amon probably just wanted the main scores on the album rather than put every little peice of music that came from the game, even though he wrote most of the music with his friends anyways. i realized this when the "Panama Bank" (which is the third level in the game of splinter cell Chaos Theory), music was not on the CD. =( But its a wonderful disk chaulkful of awesome songs though. =)
I always loved Chaos Theory more than any other game in the series. I love the Splinter Cell franchise, but SCCT just had a different feel...and a kick-ass soundtrack!
-> kingofpoms69: I've thought about getting the original Xbox edition of Double Agent, since I've heard that it tells a better story. How is the gameplay in that version, if you know? Your spelling of "Montreal" is spot-on, though. Don't worry about it. ^_^
could someone please upload the 10 song tracks onto youtube? i dont even know if most of Amon Tobin's Chaos Theory album is on youtube yet, but i have the album. i would upload the songs, if my computer wasn't being so crappy. the 10 song tracks are: 1. lighthouse 2. ruthless 3. theme from battery 4. kokubo sosho stealth 5. el cargo 6. displaced 7. ruthless (reprised) 8. kokubo sosho battle 9. hokkaido 10. the clean up
IS there any visual on the DVD or is it (as im guessing) purely audio content. Im gonna get this DVD i think. But only if its the only 5.1 mix i can find... ???????
i love this song its got a great beat . love the beginning the most though. from 0:00 - 0:20 , 0:47 - 1:04 , and 1:55 - 2:17 those are the best but thumbs up or thumbs down to this comment its a really great piece of work
Amon Tobin did such a completely bang up job on these soundtracks, he deserves like 8 billion standing ovations.
I love how much of Amon's music has an atonal element to it. There is the main song, then there is an abstract and fairly quiet, yet still noticeable background noise which totally changes the experience of the song
i really really love the pattern of the claps starting at 2:38
This video deserves another post from me it's just class!
IDM should stand for "It Doesn't Matter
@BlazeTheChronic You're absolutely right. It's from episode 3 from season 8. This is coincidentally my favorite episode of Top Gear. The clip is only about 20 seconds long, but El Cargo starts at ~17:50 when Clarkson presents the Mustang before a race with the mighty Lotus Exige.
The Best soundtrack of the entire game
Same! I like the remixed version of Kokubo Sosho Stealth, too.
This is frickin' amazing. I didn't want the song or the video to end! 5* + Fave
My ex-gf from years ago put me on to Amon Tobin.. so after we broke up, I stopped listening to it cuz it all reminded me of her crazy ass. But I think this song has brought me back... I think Amon Tobin and Flying Lotus should collab.
Love this song! I played the mission where it was played over and over just to hear the song.
This is my favorite song from Chaos Theory. He really did a great job with the whole soundtrack.
The riff starts at 12min :30secs, into side one of the album Nektar: Remember the Future 1974
link with timestamp please?

"I thought I heard something... Guah!"
Amon Tobin iz a genius & this iz my fav album!
KEEP IT ALIVE AMONA!
I can't believe this game has been out as long as it has. I remember when 2007 (the game's setting year) seemed so far away ...
Not only the riff, but some sounds from the intro of the Nektar's song. They're both taken from part I from RTF.
Fantastic track, recognizing for once where a sample was taken from, somewhat made me love that song even more!

this is genius!! love this track!!
Amon Tobin's creative work is awesome!

Agreed this was their best one !
I wish they'll go back on track
AWESOME SONG! Makes my mind seem daft with the cool sounds.
When I bought splinter cell, I found both my favorite game and music.

I never get tired of the soundtrack.
They also use some of this music in Pandora Tomorrow. I think El Cargo was used in the final mission (LAX).
that was the first thing i think of about SPCT, was the open space the way you could pick the way you compleate the mission, double agent was a let down in the gameplay part because it was not as open. cannot wait to see what UBI montreal (sorry about spelling) do with Conviction.
I think I'm remembering this music now! Had no clue Amon Tobin did Splinter Cell Chaos Theory! Never got to beat that one.
love the drum chops. amon's a genius
Brilliant track and brilliant game.
Best videoclip ever.
So nostalgic... Love it with my heart -3
I agree, altough, the first level theme has a different mix when somebody sees you. And the ingame mix is a lot better.
Anyway, the OST CD is still good.
Ninja Tune stuff rocks.
The best of TobiN !
such an amazing game, such memories of playing this at my dads house cos i didnt have a pc to run it xD
It's sad we are never gonna see this kind of splinter cell game ever again
i bet nobody knows that Amon sampled the very beginning of his track that strings Pizzicato from Nektar- Remember the future part 1 (find the full version of this song and scroll to 13 minute )
Thank god you wrote this. I thought that something is wrong with my ears that i cant play that song on a guitar and it's just the song is slightly out of usual tune
beat the game on all difficulty settings about 100 times and i STILL enjoy it :D
he's a genius. what more can I say...
splinter cell chaos theory was is/was best game ever made. the music made it that much better then what it all ready was.
I Love this Music!!
@MandatoryTube couldn't have said it better myself. Thumbs up to one of the best video games ever!
Yes, and I think it's largely because of this guy's score for the game. It really gives the game a more intensive, dramatic feel.
amazing music
Amon Tobin is new music genius!!!
This whole soundtrack is godly

Top Gear picked up this track and just hearing a little bit of it made me want to play the game so bad again(I have been away from my PS2).
this is the best game ever, i loved it.
J' adore cette musique... du bon jazz
That would be like an eargasm.
Well, thats just me, some years from now, listening to this in my porsche, wearing full black expensive formal wear and a blinking watch.Nightime. The lights of the street reflect from my black glasses as I roll slowly towards some suspiciously seriously looking group of men with silver lugages.
The best splinter cell

yea its fun 2 listen 2 at night, and early in the morning
This game is AWESOME !
I might have to buy Chaos Theory off of Xbox Marketplace now...I forgot how much I loved these games. They are so good, it's ridiculous.
@TimeTracers
Really? Awesome, thanks!

So incredibly catchy.
*drumming with my fingers
I like the guitar riff in the beginning.
the music is awesome....
Great song.
i love this track! :P
Несколько тем и темпоритмов в одном произведении-отличает композитора современности...
every time I play this song with call of duty online I do good. problem Is I havent done that in 5 to 6 months.. time to get back on the track again.
You could use those powers to create beauty

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory I Love You !!
This is my favorite amon tobin..em song
I translated "El Cargo" and apparently it means "Office" in English. I dunno how that fits into the context of the song honestly.
great video ...
I wouldn't call this DnB... this is much deeper and complex.. dunno how to explain it o.0
Amon Tobin you are awesome
i'm sry amon tobins songs juss give me some eargasoms love his songs so much!
I always loved Chaos Theory more than any other game in the series. I love the Splinter Cell franchise, but SCCT just had a different feel...and a kick-ass soundtrack!

Wasn't this song use as one of the theme songs for the show IGPX?
@AldaryLV it's produced by bonobo ;)
Same/Similar Piano sample as the one used in Bad Company - True Romance? Both are tunes.
"Oh no, you're going to kill me, right?"
Dude, That would be illigal to listen too.... XD
I always think Noisia - Whiskers is gonna play at the end
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is an awesome game!
This song makes me wanna plan a bank heist for some reason
Thanks Noisia bbc mix
I haven't played any Metal Gear games but I agree that SC 3 was probably the best in the series followed by 4.
When stealth was stealth.
