Just starting collecting Criterions this month. Got The Silence of the Lambs, The Tree of Life, Parasite, High and Low, The Before Trilogy, Trainspotting, and 12 Angry Men on Blu-Ray and got Dazed and Confused, Thelma & Louise, Raging Bull, La Haine, and In the Mood for Love on 4K
I started collecting Criterions late in life well into my 70s, all in past couple years with about 3 dozen titles so far. This July got 6: Thief, Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, The Devil's Backbone, Virgin Suicides 4k, Anatomy of a Fall, Shampoo, love all of them. Had not seen Shampoo in decades, very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed. My all time favorites: The Great Beauty (a tie at #1), along with IL Sorpasso, then La Piscine, Midnight Cowboy, Barry Lyndon, The Double Life of Veronique, Local Hero, Shampoo, Blow Up, Blue Velvet, The Piano, La Piscine, Sex Lies Videotape, Tampopo, McCabe Mrs. Miller. The list could change and rearrange depending on my mood:) Perfect Days at top of buy que November sale, missed out July due to out of stock and/or Amazon not price matching. Thanks James.

I just watched Spielberg’s Munich last night for the third time and I had never realized until looking through the credits after it ended that the director of La Haine plays the bomb maker on the Israeli assassination squad.

A couple months ago someone pointed out to me that the artwork on the cover of Anatomy of a Fall starts in black and white at the top and gradually turns to color. Such a subtle but cool choice

On the last day of the sale, I bought Take Out from 2004 on a whim and absolutely loved it. Such an impactful film and definitely one of my favorite Criterions so far!
Great video! I picked up Scanners, Pan's Labyrinth, The Game and Silence of the Lambs on Blu-ray and Don't Look Now, One False Move and Videodrome on 4k. I confess I actually got more movies on the Camp Arrow sale this year I think lol
I'm loving these Olympics as usual even though there were a few unorthodox things like the usual torch balloon and not using the main stadium for the opening ceremonies. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was them not having the men's cycling road race be the opening event. The road race is always the coolest way to open Olympic competition because it's so long (170 miles this year) and it always gives viewers a spectacular survey of the host city and all the diverse neighborhoods and rural communities there. The Olympics are far and away my favorite sporting event. I've used a bunch of vacation days from work to stay home and watch and shut off a lot of other hobbies for 2 weeks. I may have mentioned before that Criterion's 100 Years of Olympic Films box set was the one and onky Criterion product I ever pre-ordered. I highly recommend it ans canr wait ro see what the French film makers have to offer for these games.
Hello, Dude! Glad to hear you are enjoying the Olympics. The Paris Games have been very entertaining every time I’ve tuned in. That Olympics Box Set is an attractive edition for sure. I’m pretty happy with my Tokyo Olympiad and Visions of Eight editions.
Perfect Days, Dogfight, Le Samourai and Girl Fight are on my wishlist. Blue Velvet is my favorite David Lynch film, but the Blu Ray is good enough for me. I did by the 4K of Risky Business and I was happy to upgrade my standard Blu Ray edition.
Perfect Days, Dogfight, and Le Samourai are all highly recommended and I’m looking forward to watching Girlfight soon. Risky Business is such a good movie as I was reminded revisiting it with this nice new 4K edition.

I've been insanely misled by certain negative reviews in the past concerning the Pat Garrett movie. It's a really stylish and fun Western that's probably in my top 20 or so at this point. And the Criterion Package comes with multiple versions!
I saw Pat Garrett for the first time with this new edition and really enjoyed it. The Dylan music is also a sweet element that takes the film up a notch for me.
I followed a similar geographic journey thru film-first it was climbing San Juan Hill and screaming to the top of my lungs "I am Cuba", then a visit to China, before bidding farewell to my Concubine, onward to Mexico where I watched a pretty blond dance, but I was not a Victim of Sin, then down to Brazil looking for a black god, but you were nowhere to be found so I was led astray by a white devil ending up in Spain with a purely impulse buy "Tie me up, Tie me down", by then my bladder was full so I rushed to Japan to find a super clean bathroom and so ended a "Perfect Day". :)
Love that poetic journey through film around the globe! Some awesome experiences from these filmmakers from Mexico, China, Soviet Union/Cuba, Brazil, Spain. Great stuff!

I got 11 of the 14 you got plus 4K upgrades of La Haine, Peeping Tom, To Die For, Bound plus Werckmeister Harmonies 4K and on Blu-ray I got All That Money Can Buy and A Story of Floating Weeds / Floating Weeds: Two Films by Yasujiro Ozu and 2 Janus Contemporaries Blu-rays -- Anselm and Lynch/Oz. Hot diggity dog 😀 I haven't watched all of the releases from this year that I got so from those I have, my top 5 for the year so far (if I don't count 4K upgrades of a Criterion Blu-ray): Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid 4K (been waiting a long time for that to come out on Blu-ray), Victims of Sin, Dogfight, The Roaring Twenties 4K and Lone Star 4K. Quite a few i still have to see though 😶

I picked up four films. To Die For, Perfect Days and Dog Fight on Blu-ray. I picked up Picnic at Hanging Rock on 4k for when I get a 4k player and tv. It's in my top 10 favorite all time films. My favorite 2024 would be McCabe and Mrs Miller, To Die For and my number one would be Perfect Days.

Le Samourai is such a masterpiece. Great pick up for me as well. I picked up Blue Velvet as well but havent gotten to watch it just yet.

@@20thand21stMovies Great, I look forward to that. I was looking at the Modern Shelving brand but got a bit of sticker shock when I saw the price. Now I am leaning towards the Ikea Billy although it has deeper shelves than I would prefer.
The only title I picked up in July was the 4K of Blood Simple.
