PONY CAM if she braid daily I’d imagine it’s routine and cross ties do help a lot if you have them, I just stuff a hay bag/net

I can braid pretty well, but everytime I braid close to the neck my horse can't stretch his neck anymore. Anyone with the same problem?
Myrine De Waard that’s probably because you put the braid too tight maybe try doing it looser and not braiding your horses withers.
you actually aren't supposed to braid that tight it's bad for the main and the horses neck...
every few french braids, don’t add more hair for a couple folds and then resume french braiding. this allows more movement :)
You did a good job and most people should be able to do this because this is originally called the under hand braid

i have tons of horses (well they’re my barn owners but no one rides them so i take care of all them) and i enjoy braiding their names and tails but i fail drastically at braiding the main not so much the tail-

You can also use it with black electric tape. Rubber bands can tear the hair if you leave it in for a long time. Black electric tape doesn't tear the hair, doesn't leave a resudue unlike scotch tape, and is black so it still looks professional.

My cobs mane is so long and thick whenever I do this it falls out I’ll have to practice before the show this Sunday ! 😂
With the forelock I always do it slightly looser then thread the plait back up through the braid and tuck it in x

Hi, I have an Andalusian with a very long mane, however it looks short and messy at the withers and on the bridle path. Your Lusitano looks perfect. Have the withers and bridle path been clipped?
Do you have any recommendations for my horse? She has very long thin hair and her forelock mane is VERY thin and is only like 7strands of mane. I love to do her mane (it helps her because she does not like it wen people touch her) but I don’t know if this will work on her... and recommendation????????

This mane is to die for! My baroque pinto has friesian, crinkly hair. Can I achieve this result with a bit of water on his mane? Or will that destroy everything?

This is a Dutch braid!
So? on a portugese horse, goes with the portuguese style. There's not much dutch about a dutch braid. I'm dutch.
Not everyone calls it that though.
Proper name is under braid.

A serieus question. Why do you braide the hair? Whats the function of it? Because it looks beautifull or because its good for the horse?
Yasmina she states in the video it’s to keep the mane as healthy as possible, it stops snagging and breakage under their bridle when being ridden.

Barons wife here/ I tried to braid my mini. My problem with the first time braiding was his mane being so thick. This style looks like it will work better than my first go. Your horse is beautiful!!! Love the braid style here!!!
I know this is a year late, but a tip for minis is to split the mane in two right down the middle. And then do a running braid on each side. Kinda like pigtails.

No, you can’t. For the hunter ring you need small button braids that are tight on the horses neck.
