How much foam did you use and how much? also do you think its ok to freestyle foam like: useing scraps to make the shape you want instead of wasting it?
What would you say is a good budget for a home-made foam base head like this. I mean including the bucket base. Also do you have any paper printable sheets with the relative dimensions for making a suit that I can use?
When you’re carving the small details like the ears and the nose, what’s the best way to do it? I mean, like how do you make sure you’re getting it as smooth as you possibly can?
When your making the ears, how big should they be? I know the faux fur makes it bigger, but still! Also, when carving the mouth hole to breath from, and it’s difficult to carve because of the hot glue, is there anyway around that?
I am genuinely not a furry, I'm just an artist who loves character creation and storytelling. Watching people bring their characters to life and create them by hand into a wearable suit is super fun to see and makes me wish I could bring my OCs to life!

Hello Skye! I don't know if you will see this, but I just want to thank you for making us know how to make such beautiful works of art. Fursuit making is an incredibly hard and tedious job, but watching your tutorials makes it much more fun and easy. Thank you so much. I am almost done with the base of my 4th fursuit head and its looking absolutely amazing so far. Thank you so much Skye! We all appreciate you so so much. ❤️
for BEGINNER beginner- like- literally never touched a sewing machine or needle before ever, I’ve found that fur furring the head putting it on in strips is the safest way to go. Just start at the back of the head, making your way forward. keep the direction of the fur consistent tho!
Oh my goodness! I've been wanting to make a fursuit my whole life, and this comes along!!! I was starting to get bored of my fursona (rip Lunar) but now I really want to make her a fursuit, aah!! Thank you, Skye!!
Hey! I know what to use for eye blanks, I mainly use the cups minute microwaveable rice pots! They are easy to cut to the height you want your sides to be, and with an exacto knife if you make a small hole, you can then cut the eye mesh hole with small scissors! Another option is, at Bunnings they sell these 99c plastic pots that come in white or black. You can use them two ways: 1: cut into the sides to make a nice beveled 2D eye 2: cut into the base of the pot to make some nice follow me eyes, similar to the rice pots! Both of these can be cut with scissors, and are what I use for all my eyes! :)
I actually remembered from a long time ago from 2019 I saw you at the Brisbane Medieval event, then now, i went through the photo, and I went I know this nice person who allowed me to take a photo of them and a really nice person you are still today. Super happy to see a cohesive new set of tutorials! Made my first suit using your original tutorial, but with the newer bucket head base to start. Went well until the lining step, since there wasn't a good way to adapt the old way to the new base. Already have the base for my second suit head all carved and glued, so that lining section will come in super handy for continuing (Might go back and add some of those floof triangles first though, never thought of doing it like that ^_^) Ty for making the process so much more accessible to everyone Skye, it's a surprisingly fun hobby to make these things!
