everybody talks about Armies dancing performance, but what I love the most on this scene is Timothees dancing. so easy going, light and passionate at the same time
I guess the reason why this movie is so special is that their time spent together for this film is so much similar to what happen in the book especially between Timmy and Armie, they've form a very special relationship, maybe not romance but something more than just friendship, maybe like a family
So moved by this interview. I've seen the movie twice. Interestingly, my second viewing was much closer to the screen, I reacted in different ways - with more emotion. This film is a masterpiece. Love is love. Thank you Luca and cast.
Although Elio and Oliver weren't danceing together, they were dancing for each other. Oliver was the masculine peacock, strutting around, I think, not to attract the lady, sexually, but to subliminally, attract, Elios attention. Elio, danced up to Olover, to be noticed. The girl he danced with was his prop. Oliver was spewing testerone and Elio was breathing it in...it wasn't the first time I had heard an actor, talk about, Dancing in a scene, with out music or booz...it may have been painful for hammer, but it worked..I suggest to everyone READ THE BOOK LISTEN TO THE AUDIO BOOK..if you have seen the movie, watch it again, when it's on line..that way you can pause and back up, when you want..it seems as if there is a sequel being thought about... yeah!!! Using a lot of unused footage in flashbacks, and going years ahead, when Elio and Olover, reconnect... How brialant, from beginning to end..the movie, actually complemented the book..in anyone else's hands (director and actors) it could have been a major flop!! Simple words. Wow wow and wow again...
Yes Ronnie Caron. Dancing with someone else on the dance floor other than your supposed dance partner is exactly right. Been there. Done that. No longer have the Tshirt :) One of the advantages of no longer "contact partner dancing", you could manoeuvre yourself into a position whereby you are dancing with your fantasy as much as with your supposed partner. Whether Oliver noticed straight away that he was being watched by Elio I 'm not sure, but certainly Elio was living out a fantasy there. The geeky moves are totally as I remember them - jumping like Maasai warriors, twisting weight transfer steps, waving arms like a Cocktail barman.
18:02 The perfect place, the perfect weather, the perfect time, the perfect year, the perfect summer, with the perfect person..wait..wow..He wasn't dancing with Elio in that scene, although they did the dancing rehearsals together.. He touched Timmy's shoulder and said ''the perfect person''..Ahh you two..
A few things I would like to know about the casting:- When did Timothée learn that Oliver would be played by Armie? Did he know much about him? How did he feel about the prospect of working with Armie, before he met him? We know in delightful detail how he felt from when they first got together.
These questions have been answered in other interviews. Timothee didn't know Armie and had never met him before the film. In one interview he claimed he thought that Armie was "huge" when they first met, which was pretty funny.

Listening to Armie Hammer reading the book. Breathtaking...almost hard to get past his lyrical voice. Only about 1/3 through . Seen the movie 4X.
