- Today we’re talking with Gregg Ritz about the long awaited return of Thompson/Center. Many, myself included thought the news of Thompson/Center’s divestment spelled out the end of the company and an American Legacy, but thatnks to Gregg and his team, that isn’t the case.
I’m asking Gregg some of the questions you want answered. We’re talking about timelines, production schedules, what will be made first, and when we can expect to see a Thompson/Center Hawken back in the hands of muzzleloading enthusiasts.

We have enough inlines to go around. I hope TC will bring back their classic rifles at a reasonable cost.
Put my first Hawken together over 40 years ago hope they come back
Mine still hangs on wall over my dining room table,,,had some good mentoring by the guy who hot blued my barrel. Lots of nwohio woodchucks fell short of their hole back in the 1970s……
I’ve been in muzzleloading since 1972!
This is great to hear, I can't wait to see a flintlock Hawkins from tc and kits 🤠
It would be great to see TC offer a Hawken kit better than what's currently out there at a value level. I want to build a muzzleloader with my son's but a kibler is too much for a first build with them
Go with a Traditions kit, they are not bad, just that some areas could be better. I have the Traditions Hawken kit built, the plastic sights are the worst part and something that can be fixed with buying good sights. The TC will be priced at the upper range (again), short of a Kibler or Hawken Shop, but still a lot of money for a first kit. I still have the CVA Kentucky Long Rifle kit that I built as a teen with my dad, that was a long time ago. It's a good solid shooter, as is my "Hawken" that I built 2 years ago. Summary is, don't let the time slip away, build something with your kids, and let them do the work so they are invested.
@@minigpracing3068 i had considered the traditions kit... But heard bad reviews on the lock and some of the cheap components (like the sights) have me thinking something like an investarms might be better. I'm also hoping that since TC will have greater manufacturing capability than kibler they will be able to make a cheaper kit (500-750) and be better quality than the investarms or traditions we currently have available. Plus i wouldn't mind being able to actually support an American made company! I do still have some time available though. My youngest is less than a year and the other is under 5 thankfully but I'm always trying to think about their futures.
I’ve been looking for a NewEnglander shogun barrel. Hard to find. I did find one and they wanted $1,000. Hope you bring back all the old favorites. A fan since 1978.
This guy sounds like a proper customer driven businessman rather than another run of the mill corporate bureaucrat type. Seems like a good steward for the TC brand. Looking forward to seeing what he can come up with.
Bring back traditional black powder rifles like the Hawken. There are others also. People at the rifle range love my Hawken.
Looking forward to new hawken and renegade barrels and parts 😊
I would love to see a Renegade in big bore caliber and a Cherokee in a smaller caliber for small game. I like TC of the 70's.
T/C should look more into stainless and nitride barrels moving forward. One thing that dissappointed me with my T/C Triumph with weathershield, is that after one of my 1st hunts with it in a kind of mist, the bore started surface rusting. Gun shoots well, still like it, but that did bug me. I know Glen from Bass and Bucks, is actually where I bought my Triumph. Bass and Bucks is a nice shop, with a 750 yard range.
Sounds GREAT!
God bless! You will do great!
I have 16 muzzleloaders most are TCs
I love my Encore. Single shot rifles are fun and elegant so I’d be happy to see that come back. But I’d much rather have them bring the Renegade back. Especially, the flint lock version.
From most people that I know that bought Triumphs, they much preferred the Omega. I'd live a Black Diamond XR walnut stainless. I can dream. I love all the traditional ones as well. Love my hawker. 50 flinter.
I use my Dad's TC Black Mt. Magnum in the Maine deer season. I hope they bring back the Hawkens TC models or even the White Mt Carbine
It would be great if they brought back the Cherokee , Seneca , Hawken and Renegade.
About a year ago, I heard there was talk of a new T/C facility possibly opening up.
If they want to get back to what they were bring back the sidelocks. One of my favorites was the New Englander.
My omega and silver elite are my favorites
I was wondering if they were going to come back out with the New Englander shotgun barrel? I have an older grey hawk in .50 cal and would like to get a barrel that wasn’t old and or used to have for a multi purpose gun.
It would be nice to see American made traditional black powder shotguns and rifles again.
May I ask what's going on with GOEX? Haven't seen any of their powder in stores.
I'm guessing they'll focus on re-releasing their most popular models. Build on success! My Firestorm was relatively unpopular so I doubt they'll come back. Luckily, I'm set for life on spare parts.
Maybe im not being a purist but traditions was on to something with the Elkhorn removable breech plug. If TC coud incorporate something like that into their traditional guns that would be great. I think that more people would get into muzzleloading with a easier to clean traditional gun
I believe T/C was or became importer for Traditions. One of the Traditions rifles I picked up, had a card that said this, in the box.
I hope they can compete with CVA Scout Centerfire rifles. Definately (dont) make a muzzle loading system thats reliant on large rifle primers. When politics change they quickley become unavailable while 209's are still plentiful. Could maybe OEM barrels from MGM too.
Encore 30-06 barrel,,,,,,243 tc 83 barrel,,,,,,,,17hmr contender barrel,,,,,,maybe more,,,where do I sign and put the downpayment??? Good luck and hope y’all start production soon,,,,,,,vote red or it all goes down the toilet,,,,,
Why the reupload?
I had a mistake in the image that I couldn't correct without reuploading.
@@ILoveMuzzleloading that makes sense. Glad to see it's back though!
Liberty Res in maryland ?
Please leave the QLA off any traditional ML'er
Sounds to me like the focus will be on inlines, not the millions of hawkens and renegades out there, shame.
Bring back at least one sidelock.
Its not a real black powder gun with a scope and all that gun. Really get a flint lock and be come a hunter.
People want to take advantage of muzzleloading season without learning what muzzleloading is really about.
Some of us barely have time to hunt, inlines are helpful for us. Technically most people are not "hunting" anymore, they are sitting and waiting🤗. Unless you are out west with gobs of land with no boundary lines forever, not many truely get to hunt. Some of us are lucky to find 10 acres to hunt on, and state ground can be over crowded/dangerous. Usually less guys are out for m-load.
Or a percussion rifle
@@Wes-i1c Id like one. I've looked at the Traditions kits off and on.
@@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill that’s exactly what I have a traditions hawken rifle kit they are great rifles I would recommend that or a Kentucky long rifle
One of the worst things for hunting, and the future of hunting, is greedy farmers destroying all the timber. Keep seeing this more and more. Now rich out of staters are buying up all the land, and selling in smaller tracts, or just sitting on the land for later reasons. You can not outbid a lot of these people. It's hard to find land that wont be ruined habitat wise, by the neiboring timber properties being ripped out. 20-30 years from now ypou will be lucky to find land worth buying, that isnt stripped of all the good trees loogged out, or with ideal habitat to support wildlife needs. Will lead to peaple over crowding dangerously on state lands, or just giving up on hunting.
Yes, many of the farms around me end up getting sold when the family gets old, and picked up by large operators. Or by investors like that idiot Gates.
I knew a man who bought a nice piece of land. The seller tried to have it logged while the paperwork was still in progress. My friend caught the loggers and ran them off at rifle point, then went to visit the seller. No more trouble after that. Later an adjoining farm sold, and some rich person built a McMansion close to my friend's land. Ruined that part for hunting. Also a timber company sprayed their land with herbicide. The spray drifted onto my friends land and killed lots of oaks. The company denied doing it. Maybe they did it on purpose, because they had to give him right of way to his land.
@@debluetailfly Thats pretty pathetic, of the ex owner.
