    When cutting or preparing bonito strips, Joey Z shared some important information in this episode. Some good tips to remember is you must have a very sharp and stiff knife because bonito skin is as thick as leather. After cutting your strips it is important to store your strips, meat side down in kosher salt this will ferment the strips for durability and activate as a preservative. After making these teardrop Bonito strips you are prepared to go trolling or jig these strip for almost any fish in the ocean! I hope you enjoyed this episode and hope you learned something from it now CLICK on the links below to get prepared with the same gear we used and CATCH some fish!

    Thank you for a great learning video. Sounds as though bonita belly is a great bait for several different fish.

    Thanks for telling us how to hook the Bonita strip. Is it supposed to be hooked in the middle etc etc

    • @FishingWithSalty
      @FishingWithSalty  Рік тому

      Your welcome, yes, middle front edge of the fat end of tear drop and second hook in the middle leaving strip as flat as possible.

    Will adding salt to an already pre frozen bonita firm it up???

      I wish but I don’t think so because it works as a preservative so it will save the condition it’s in

    They way he is cutting them they will wash out .. look at the grain of the meat.. it lasts longer if the forward part of the strip is the tail end of the bo-bo

    • @FishingWithSalty
      @FishingWithSalty  4 роки тому +1

      keith dubose Thats probably true, but they still work. As you know after a few kingfish they are going to be useless anyway.

      @@FishingWithSalty .. been experiment trolling sea witcheswith strips faster for wahoo at 7-9 knots it becomes more important to gain the grain sweep back .. the salt you all show really toughen them up .. thanks

      100% correct. The direction of the meat makes a huge difference in the length of time
      You can troll your strips.

      Jack Miller absolutely those are both great fisheries! In fact anywhere in the state of Florida a.k.a. “the fishing capital of the world” is a great fishery! I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place in Florida that didn’t produce some type of excellent fishing! 🎣
