I once had a mute change in musical I was playing in that was literally a half bar in cut time at a fast tempo. Literally just had to rip it out to the floor
We don't really consider playing trumpet and flugelhorn to really "count" towards multi-instrumentalism. They are pretty similar to play, so much so that a trumpet player does not need to learn how to play a flugelhorn if they already play trumpet, and vice versa
Those are slow mute changes by show standards! I've had to pull out a mute in between notes (no rests) before. Thankfully you can play trumpet with one hand, so pretty much anything is possible. Much harder to do the ultra-quick changes on trombone!
Why wouldn’t you just buy a cup mute? You’re losing a lot of time having to put the cup attachment onto that god-awful Dennis Wick lol. Plus, metal cups don’t have the characteristic sound that a cup mute should imo

should retitle this to: man being an extremely chaotic and talented multi-instrumentalist
HAHAH YESS
"multi-intrumentalist" wait until you find out the flugel is just a trumpet with a different timbre
They’re still different instruments though

That was do satisfying to watch
Also sooo satisfying when you pull it off. (Now I want you to imagine the chaos of this when I sight read the first rehearsal!)

When was this? And is it coming to Sydney?
Some left over footage from pre-lockdown in Sydney! It was done in June. I’ll be doing Annie in January which will be heaps of fun!

To bad the other player can’t use a straight mute
