I brought the T4. God damn was it was it difficult trying to get a lead with guns, because firing missiles was more useless than throwing a paper ball at them.
Aaaa I feel you, did the same to the first frost boss fight "she has rail guns! help!" *rapid sharp turns around rail gun*
2:25 is legitimately one of the most genius applications of music design in gaming, the main theme comes in to add a bit of defiance and heroism, but you'll only get to hear that part in game if you have stuck around long enough and chosen to fight.
And it comes when Crimson 5 says "Crimson 1, are you seeing what i'm seeing?" It comes right when Crimson squadron starts to fear you
It's like Proof Of A Hero from Monster Hunter! You could feel like you're doing jack shit, but as soon as it kicks in, you could solo anything.
The irony for me is, I could never run. I had to fight to survive

i felt so awesome dogfighting defiantly even if i didnt get to kill them, i ran out of ammo quickly and just kept running them around the lava trying to cause a crash

I told my friend before they start mission 6 “only stubborn pilots fail this mission” he got in and after blasting the ground in the sk-25, he asked how anyone could fail this mission

I remember when this fight started, was ready to fight then the boys said nah I'm out. The mission said run. The beat dropped and all confidence suddenly left my body. I even tried to turn and fight a little and they just dodged like it was nothing, did not help me at all. It was a hell of a moment.
I made the mistake of doing this mission in the SK.25 the first time, because I had no idea what was going to happen; I was sweating the entire run out dumping every flare I had on me, it was terrifying.

The intro A plus the "Crimson" name showing on the screen gives you a "Ohhhhh... shit" moment the first time you engage them.
It's fun and game until the organ starts playing and the sky starts speaking in Federation Core language

I thought to myself: “These guys are too arrogant. I’m boutta ice these guys.”

I didn't see it the first time... So this was literally me.
I love how this sounds like Kings but more heroic. Really makes you vibe when you're in the final battle and the soundtrack is full-on menacing.
1:31 absolutely love this part, because in comparison to Ace Combat, Project Wingman is very punishing and tough, and this part really makes you feel the pressure in that first fight with Peacekeepers, if you choose to engage them. Flaring in the wrong spot or stopping pulling can mean getting killed, and the timestamp always kicked in when i was pulling and seeking for a moment to shoot (i was replaying this mission with Tomcat a lot of times to score a kill on Crimson lol)
Especially with the Giant words *DO NOT ENGAGE* Floating over your screen

2:25 Note that this part sounds like Kings in a defiant and heroic matter. It literally showcases Crimson 1's frustration at Monarch for trying to steal his crown.

I genuinely thought I might have to retreat because I ran out of hism, stdm, and had only 600 ammo left in my gun, not to mention that I had only damaged 1 of the vx-23s, then learned that you only have to get one to critical health
Looking forward to it, the Intro for this one gives me chills everytime.

I remember my first time playing this mission. I was in a call with my friends on discord. We were just chatting and stuff. I was saying how easy this mission was as soon as the music started. I audibly said "oh shit" as I turned to try and fight. My friends asked what happened. I couldn't answer I and eventually just turned and ran. This soundtrack fully encapsulates that feeling the buildup gets you hyped like "oh yeah time to take down another squadron" then the actual song hits and you lose that feeling, your facing true aces. Crosstalk has a little bit of this but crimson does to a extreme.

The vertical pipes at 2:25 alongside the cellos really help create an atmosphere of death, and that if you screw up its game over. Really awesome work!

I still vividly remember when I first faced Peacekeeper squadron. I was flying an attack plane (can't remember the name for the life of me, but it wasn't suited for dogfighting at all), and dumbass me decided to just go with it, when the rest of my squad just peaced out, I stayed back, and somehow managed to fend them off. And after taking out one of their own, even with that AoA limiter Belkan magic bullcrap, I felt so fucking powerful.
Just completed Project Wingman on Mercenary. Great way to celebrate!

There's something glorious about going in with an F/D-14 to attack the schizophrenia squadron and getting so much into it that my sister has to remind me that I still had 85% (fuck cordium damage) while the VX-23 that I am engaging is at one machine gun hit from dying.

Я когда проходил одну миссию забыл по счёту это на предприятии добычи я как понял в конце была типа ЭЛИТА федерации и я как то выжил благо управление как в War Thunder или чуть проще не знаю и такое чувство что я не зря купил МИГ-29 а то был бы на F-16 то сгинул бы там я офигел от его маневриности по сравнению с F-16 а музыка реально делает атмосферу в игре
im still fascinated by how such a small indie team managed to make such an amazing game
plays two times in project wingman. in the yellowstone mission, and in the cold war mission
I still go back to machine of the mantle, specifically for this encounter. I put more and more modifiers on, more limitations on myself, every time. Nothing quite gets the adrenaline flowing like the first fight with Crimson Squadron.
JOSE I NEED THE INTRO FROM PEACEKEEPER II. THE BUILD-UP IS THE SOLE REASON I KEEP PLAYING THAT MISSION. PLS
Oh.. I had to run the first time i engage them.... And im still so sattisfied to the fight i put before getting out of ALL AMMO.... It was fantastic.

I'm still at this mission, almost hitting a crimson then I crash at the hill. The music make the game better. I love it.
Just finished mercenary amd all other difficulty and I remember replaying this mission that I use cheats sk 25 instead which turns out to be the horrible idea.
When you bring an Sk.25 to a ground attack mission but you have aoaforall mod so you can enjoy the entire song:

When everyone ran I tried to stay and fight peacekeepers.
I thought it'd be fine, there was only 6 of them and I've shot like 50 planes so far.
Then 1:51 hit and I watched the peacekeeper I was tailing stall his engine , do a 110 degree turn and zoom off before my STDMs connected.
My smile dropped as I felt like a clown with that music in the background.

God I remember doing this mission when I was trying to do the mercenary playthrough to get the achievement. I accidentally and unknowingly had double time on which spawns twice as many enemies so this fight kicked my ass
I were too focusing on the game when I first play it and did not see the objective telling me to retreat from Crimson Squadron so I went ahead and fight them. But it gave me one hell of a challenge making my hand shiver from the intense battle, but is worth it.
With an intro, it's even cooler

Listened to this for the first time with earbuds in and never noticed the mongolian throat singing that's very, very faint in the intro. Nice touch!
This is such a bad guy theme. If you played this with just about any miniboss, it would not sound out of place.
