This is an excellent beginner-friendly craft you can make for the Holidays! I painted acrylic ornaments and added Smart Vinyl to the other side using my Cricut Maker 3 machine. I love that you can personalize these however you like and they would make great gifts for the Holiday season. I posted a full tutorial on UA-cam showing how I made these. Pro tip. If you place a strip of masking tape across the top and the bottom before painting the disk, you can let it dry then remove the tape for a nice crisp edge.
Bonus pro tip: Use your cricut to cut a shape in the tape before placing it and you can make festive shaped backgrounds!

New subscriber. Thanks for a great tutorial. I’ve had a Cricut Explore Air for four years and I haven’t cut anything but paper. My husband bought me an Easy Press for my birthday and but Id like to experiment with “Press on” vinyl before I give iron on a try. Any tips for my first attempt at transferring vinyl ? Which mat would you suggest ? (I don’t have the option of smart vinyl at this point). Your ornaments turned out wonderful !

Can I do this with the explore air 2 machine
I had no idea the shimmer Vinyl came with the strong grip transfer tape. I just checked mine and what do you know, there it is. I was having the hardest time and was using painters tape but that made it hard to layer Vinyl. I love your channel!
I was surprised to see it!! lol! Normally I do not like the strong grip transfer tape but it was the only thing that worked really well with the shimmer Smart Vinyl so I was glad they included it! :) Thank you!!

Which Cricut would you recommend? I've been looking at the Explore Air 2.
I have the 2 and I just LOVE it. You cant cut some of the things that Maker and the new air 3 can... but it really does well for me!
For first starting out with a machine the Cricut Explore Air 2 or 3 would be an excellent option! If you want more options for cutting several different materials then then Cricut maker would be a better option.
Hi Jayla. I never saw the paper guider before. Do you recommend it? I bought the maker and haven’t used it yet (it’s in my home I’m moving to). Love your videos.

Hi! Are you talking about the Cricut Roll holder that the vinyl goes into? I love it!! However, it is only compatible with the Explore Air 3 or Maker 3 and only works with Smart Vinyl . Thank you!!
Question about the paint. Do you paint both sides? If not do you put the vinyl on the painted or unpainted side?
Not asking me ...but I can answer🙊! Just need to paint one side...and the vinyl goes in the unpainted side.

How do you seal the paint to ensure it won’t peel off?
I've been putting a thin coat of mod podge over my paint and it works really well!

I understand that, especially if you already have a machine! You can use any of the Cricut machines for this project which is awesome though! :)
