Have owned this light for a year, the throw ,and spread on this light beats my sure fire by a long shot. Better for use in what I do as an avid camper, and construction worker than anything else I've tried, and at 63 years old I've tried many.
There are some great flashlights out there for sure. In the late 70's I saw a Maglite for the first time. I was used to the crappy flashlights that most people had at the time. Sometime they came on when needed sometimes not. But this thing really looked like an improvement in flashlight design. I had to have it. In all these years it has worked without fail. Never replaced the switch or even the little rubber cover over the switch. I did switch to an LED bulb when they came out. Probably the most effective use of my hard earned coin ever. I am old now so there is no doubt that this will carry me on out, but if it were to be stolen or dropped into a ladle of molten iron I would replace it with another Maglite. But I imagine my son will wind up with it and use it for many of his years.
This is an awesome little flashlight (with initial time, testing and review). Also initially learning all the operation features and modes was a bit overwhelming, but just takes time, experimenting and practice. * video and comment instructions helped. I could tell stories (good & bad) of all the flashlights I've had over the years, Long / short I agree with much of what the gentleman says in the video, purchased my M2R Warrior due this video and hope it remains great and in service for many years.
Nothing is better then s streamlight stinger. I've had mine for 10 and I use it everyday faithfully. As a mechanic I've put mine to the extreme test, it's the best $130 I've ever spent.
I ended up buying this after chatting with you a little bit on here and I really enjoy it. It’s as bright or brighter than my much bigger flashlights in a small package.
Was on the fence for buying one (it's going to be my EDC for LE work) Watched this. Bought one. Exactly how a positive review should be. Thanks for the detail. Good review.
Nice light but the magnetic charger is a minus for me in terms of adaptability micro usb is universal and you can find it almost anywhere if you don't happen to have your magnetic charger on you. I doubt you can get one of those at any gas station. All in all just another thing you have to carry. Great review though thank you.
Even though I use olights with magnetic charger ,I DO agree with your option, but I really like the system so ai have four for each of the seven lights I regularly use I made a point to cover that issue ,Also having a proprietary battery is aggravating but I did the same thing each light has one in and two spares for olight. As I like that system aI am willing to tolerate those two inconveniences have lots of extra charges and batteries
boostyofosho I ordered this one off their eBay store and didn't have any issues. The s1 mini, I ordered through a third party on Amazon because they were offering a second rechargeable battery at the price you'd normally pay to receive only one. Both were good experiences for me.
There is one CON with this light and that actually IS the tail switch. Because it is recessed into the tube and flush with the surface, it's a little bit awkward to depress with your thumb, and slightly uncomfortable. With the rubberized tail switches on lights like that ThruNite and the Manker you have, and like most Fenix's have, or even some older Olights like the M1T Raider Plus and my first Olight the M18 Striker, they are much more ergonomic and comfortable to use in that reverse grip that these were made for, because the button is raised. That being said, I like that the Olight has the tail switch and can also stand on it.
I have the M2R Warrior and it looks brighter than 1500 lumens. I am so impressed with these light ! And by the way I have other flashlights that are 3000 lumens and the M2R warrior Looks just as bright! I was surprised i bought the light when it was on special and i must say this is the most impressive olight torch that i have ever had ! I highly recommend this torch !
@@DawkinsPlays - on the olight website! I purchased one in November 2020 and another (for my brother) in Dec 2020, both on sale for 40% off! I suspect the next sale will occur on valentines day or one of the minor holidays in Jan/ Feb.
Would agree with you on every point except one. It's a great flashlight but I am not a fan of the magnetic charger. I would still prefer a mini USB cable connection. For one simple reason. It's one of the most common cables you can find. you could forget the proprietary cable you get with this torch or it could get damaged then the charging feature becomes useless until you get a new cable.

I also order the M2T as backup since I ordered 4 extra18650 along with extra battery charger that has 2 magnets and are USB so I can charge anywhere plus a second charger for the M2R to keep in the car so I can charge on the go. The only difference between the M2T and the M2R is the magnetic charging tailcap but the M2T does come with a housing that allow the use of CR123 since the tube is the same as the M2R. I am NOW a Olight Guy! I used to be a Streamlight ProTac HL and when they came out with the ProTac HL-X Dual fuel but the CR123 do not stay in place since there is NO housing to keep it from going to the open side. Before Streamlight I used to be Surefire but the Streamlight pricing beat Surefire Now Olight Features, Performance and Innovation are LEAVING Everyone else in the Industry back in their dust!
Mine is a pain the ass. Worked well for about a month of light use, took it with me camping once and a little around the house. After that it started bugging out and wouldn't turn on until I screw/unscrew the tailcap repeated times. Would be totally useless in an emergency.

Mines not a thrunite, it's an olight, same one as in this video. I guess my.next one shouldn't be a thrunite either though judging by what you're saying lol
You might want to try cleaning or a light sanding on the threads on the tail cap. Sounds like the anodizing might be interupting the circuit. I always lock my lights out with a half turn on the tail cap but dirt can interfere with a good connection keeping the light locked out.
@@Brett_S thanks for the advice. I recall when I first got the light there was a distinct gritty feeling when I removed or replaced the tail cap, as if there was sand in the threads. I'm looking for one with good focused throw beam really sharp . I do like some batteries by others that I can charge into ports in the batteries themselves like fenix and streamlight
I need a light for security that has a one click strobe light (it seemed like you had to hold the button when you programmed it to the back?) as I will need to use it with motorcycle gloves on and with my left hand (i'm right handed). There are too many little sh*ts here in London that have turned to bike jacking and was nearly caught out by it a while back so need something I can use in the heat of the moment. any recommendations?
After buying one of these flashlights I started to gain more attention from my wife. She has been more intimate and wants me to flex my muscles while I click the stobe button staring at her in the dark. Intense love life guaranteed!
Harleywood or whoever would be kind enough to reply and verify... As I am still learning and getting used to all the modes and features (as well as considering purchasing another M2T Warrior or other Olight), I would like to know or verify, the advanced tactical mode is having the strobe feature set in the tail switch as opposed to constant on, correct?
Costs over $100 for the 1500 lumen light. Just get the Thrunite TC15 costs half as much and has a 2300 lumen turbo mode. The high mode is 1000 Magnetic charging? I guess that's kinda cool, I prefer micro USB. It's more universal. I hate propitiatory chargers.
Looks like an amazing light! Love the versatility of the pocket clip too. You could actually go hands-free with that by clipping it to the bill of your hat. This just may be the one that finally kicks my Fenix PD 35 out of my pocket. Thanks for sharing!
I have two but both are defect after 2 months! One tail, switch one side switch is broken! I love the design but it seems the quality is not good so far since im not the only one with this problem. S1r baton still runs like a champ though
Interesting... I am (or was) on a TN12 and that's my measuring bar now that I'm on the market for a new light. Currently debating between this m2r, the Klarus G10 and the Pd35. Can you clarify something for me? So the 1500 is ONLY accessed in tactical mode then? There's no way to reach it in normal mode?
My M2R has been giving me a ton of issues since I got it. Sometimes I pull it out of my pocket and the side switch is dead, then I have to hit the tailcap to turn it back on and then the side switch starts working again. I've tried it with the Olight cell and a Fenix cell. Same thing. I also noticed last night that the charger would not work until I took the tail cap off and started pushing on the contact. Pretty frustrating for it being $100.
I had a similar problem with mine Make sure the tailcap is screwed on tightly and that spring and battery contacts are clean This solved it for me If that doesn't help, have it replaced under warranty
Yes. It can clip in either direction. This particular light might be too long for the bill of a cap though. I would recommend the S1R II. ua-cam.com/video/-zNXt6YwhL4/v-deo.html
Everyone has different needs for a light. My needs are a good throw. Will this light have a brighter hotspot (throw) than a fenix uc35 v2.0? I haven't looked into lights for couple of years now. I'm interested in a small pocket light with good throw. I'm not sure but I believe the fenix has around 1000 lumens vs this light review of 1,500 lumens. I'm only interested in the long distance hotspot throw. THANK YOU
Ok, just got this light and I really like it. I’m just lost on one thing. To get 1500 lumens(enhanced tactical?) is that only for the flashing mode, the flashing mode that is activated by the tail cap + side button? I noticed in your video where your texting the light outside your saying the steady beam is 1500 lumens. When I hold down the side button to go thru low, med, med 2, high (high is 700 I believe) then double click it gets just slightly brighter which is 1000 lumens I’m guessing. Then what do I do to get to a solid 1500 lumens? I’ve done the tailcap + side button but that just get me the flash mode with full press and turbo 1000 with half press. Where’s the 1500? Also I’m using a fully charged 3500mah battery that came with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Kenneth Wong since that comment I have figured it out. Or so I think. Once in tactical mode a half push of the tailcap is 1500 lumens solid beam. Full push is strobe. At any time I double click the side button it goes into turbo I think it’s called which is 1000 lumens. If you double click again nothing happens with this light. Now on the little short s1 baton you can double click for turbo and double click again for turbo s. Not this one
@@linkedtokennerd Thanks for the info, so many different modes and features, I too wasn't sure if the flashlight (or I) wasn't working or doing something right, your instruction really helped!
You mentioned several times how the M2 addresses sooo many issues you’ve had with other lights (@1:11, 3:28, 8:21, 9:22)... I kept watching but it was never mentioned what those issues were? Oh well, don’t worry about it, I’ll hit the link anyways :)
No there is not. Sorry. It's half press for momentary Turbo... or full press for on/off Turbo. Then, in tactical mode it's half press for momentary Turbo and full press for momentary Strobe. It's a great light though.
I just watched your video....Question..Does Olight make this model of light where when the switch is depressed ther eis only one mode of light, not multiple modes of light. I did enjoy this video thank you
Lee Hart I don’t think so, but I know the little remembers the brightness level you used last. So when you press the button it goes straight back to that level. I really would recommend thus light. Wait for a flash sal and grab it.
I like your taste in lights, what do you think about the Klarus XT11GT? It seems to tick your boxes but with a larger head and 500 more lumens. I was considering the M2R Warrior or maybe Klarus for my next light but I have no experience with Klarus.
I love this light. My one disappointment is the tail switch setup in the strobe mode. After doing a deep press, when you release it, it automatically shuts off rather than remaining on like the turbo mode. I really wish the tail switch functioned like the M2T. On that model, the momentary on, turbo and strobe can all be activated with a single press. You don't have to use the other button to switch between turbo and strobe. Half press gives you momentary on, deep press gives you turbo, press and hold gives you strobe.
love my m2r but Unfortanly this light is far from perfect. the way the charging circuit is built into the cap is great for non harsh environments. I get dirt in between mine everyday and it will not charge without dismantling the tail cap to clean it.
If you look at the function of the light, it is really meant to be mounted on a rifle. The tail switch only has two options, stobe and turbo. The side switch is extremely difficult to find in the dark unless it is mounted to a rifle in a fixed position.
I wish they'd re release this. I liked the interface on this better than the M2R Warrior Pro. Then again, if they gave the Warrior Mini this interface, it would be the perfect EDC light for me.
I have the Bike ray speed for my bike. I liked it but the bulb burned. And they don't sell anymore I'm looking for replacement but the strongest. Please one good suggestion. Not a review of 20 that will mixe me up.Just one.similar to the Bikeray but the strongest. I'm traveling Se Asia at the moment and I wish I had it already. Thanks The one I had was 1200 lumens. More will be good? On the road, its never strong enough.
I still prefer, for my needs, my 4 Sevens Quark 123. It's small, fits in my front shirt pocket, and it is powerful enough for my needs. This Olight is cool but too many bells for me!
Here is my big issue--With my S1, I always looked down to find the light on. I then started carrying it locked out. Now it is completely inconvenient to turn on. is there a way to lock out the SIDE button only for carry, while the tailcap still works? Then maybe the side button can be brought in to adjust? (I love my Surefire E1D, but with all of these lumens, and a reasonable price, it's hard to ignore.) It is quite complicated to run though. Thanks.
Marty Unfortunately, no. But the side switch accidentally turning on has not seemed to be an issue for me. They've done a really nice job with this side switch. With my original S15, I had that problem, but they've improved their side switches. You really have to purposefully turn them on, from my experience with two of them. That's not to say they are difficult to depress when you want them on. They're just perfect as far as I'm concerned. I'm not too hard on my lights, throwing them in an overstuffed bag or anything. I typically carry them in a jacket pocket, but will also carry in a pants pocket with no problem. It also comes with a very nice pouch. HarleyWood23 has indicated in another video that he doesn't use his, but I think it's a very nice option to have.
Maybe they have updated the side switch since mine. Perhaps worth another look, but I will have to find one I can play with in person before I order. Maybe in a shop, or a friend's, or similar. Thanks for the reply.
My biggest gripe with these lights. Completely useless imo, due to the fact these are utility items. One should be able to throw it in a backpack or pocket and forget about it. Great light for posting pictures on forums though.
I have had this torch for 1 year now and it is such a awesome flash light ! Its ment to be 1500 lumens light but to me its brighter!! I have some so called 3000 lumen lights and my olight MR Warrior 2 looks brighter Olight torches are the best company out there no other company comes close to the quality of flash lights!
Nice light, never got one since i already had the M2T so I'm Planning on getting one in copper next week to add with my copper S1 r2... i mean besides being able to charge it with the tail cap there basically the same light imo...be nice if they made one in TITANIUM!
Nice Torch! Next Flash Dance, would you please note the Distance in feet\ yards. Also nice to see other levels; cause, Not always in turbo. Box at you feet you don't like - that's sad. thanks!
Cole F It’s a little long in my opinion. Also, 1500 lumens would be overkill if you’re planning the rifle for home defense. It would kill your vision to light that up in a bedroom.
I own this torch, my only complaint is the push button operation when working in complete darkness, it can be fiddly. Apart from that, don't leave home without one 👌
Thrunite is not shock poof .... fact . they do stand by it though. They sent me a new one ... Olight has them beat though... wish the had less modes though.

Double click on the side button then another double click on the normal mode
Wow!! Gonna buy one!! Thanks harleywood!!
Is that tail cap only turbo ? Or does it remember if it was on medium for instance
Weird. I would definitely contact them about a replacement.
I had a similar problem with mine
Make sure the tailcap is screwed on tightly and that spring and battery contacts are clean
This solved it for me
If that doesn't help, have it replaced under warranty
Does that clip on the light allows for clipping on ones Cap Visor?
Yes. It can clip in either direction. This particular light might be too long for the bill of a cap though. I would recommend the S1R II. ua-cam.com/video/-zNXt6YwhL4/v-deo.html
@@HarleyWood23 Thank you.
Thanks
Get your light in enhanced tactical mode first. When your light is off, double click to get max mode 700, then double click again and it will go 1500.
I am also curious, there is a cool white and neutral white version, what are the differences &/or benefit of one or the other?
For me, it’s just personal preference. I like the CW better. Just feels brighter.
Ela é melhor que a Fênix UC 35?
What is the approximate charge time out of the box with a wall USB charger ?
How long to charge?
Is a imalent dn70 better than a M2r?
Is there anyway to make the tail switch half press go to high mode (750 lumens) and then full press to turbo ofc?
No there is not. Sorry.
It's half press for momentary Turbo... or full press for on/off Turbo.
Then, in tactical mode it's half press for momentary Turbo and full press for momentary Strobe.
It's a great light though.
I Have the TN 12 as well. LOVE MINE. Thanks for the video. Made my day. I'm the same way about how I judge all other lights against the TN 12
Looks like an awesome light! I have a few older Olights
Sold on Olight thru n thru.
Have the M1X and am still highly impressed with it after drops and some abuse.
Does it have a magnet on the back to hold on to metal??
I think all Olights do
I like your taste in lights, what do you think about the Klarus XT11GT?
It seems to tick your boxes but with a larger head and 500 more lumens.
I was considering the M2R Warrior or maybe Klarus for my next light but I have no experience with Klarus.
I have no experience with Olight (yet), but Klarus build quality is very good. Has much better anodizing than my Nitecores, or Acebeams.
The M2T is on their website now. Only 1200L and no magnetic charger. But a 3-point rear button and only $70.

oh cool. thanks for sharing. I edited this video a few days ago and it was not yet on their site.
The side switch is extremely difficult to find in the dark unless it is mounted to a rifle in a fixed position.
a little thought there DR pocket clip opposite switch locate easy there deep thinker yik not impressed for a Dr to be frank
@@torstenhranchuk7 What in the shit did you say. Is that fucking English?
Us this different than the M2R warrior pro os same ?
@@Jacob_Gutierrez Wrong, according to the Olight website. Warrior is more focused, Pro, more lumens, but mor uniform, floody light.
Have you compared it to the fenix pd35?
Evil Opti Z pd35 tac is way better an brighter
I have the pd35tac and I love it, but the m2r has a bit more features, is brighter (1500 vs 1000 full output) and has more beam throw.
I still prefer, for my needs, my 4 Sevens Quark 123. It's small, fits in my front shirt pocket, and it is powerful enough for my needs. This Olight is cool but too many bells for me!
सर यह टार्च कितने रूपेया की है |
Would this make a good WML???
I have one of these lights it's the best edc lite I have owned so far.
great video, just ordered ! cant wait
Đèn này bán thế nào vậy ạ giá bao nhiêu tiền một cái vậy shop ơi
just bought one off ebay..86 bucks from Olight Direct......you made a sale and a new follower on UA-cam
Thanks Bryan. Appreciate you watching.
Solid Review !! 😎
Necesito los respuesto como puedo conseguir tengo dos k no prenden
I have had this torch for 1 year now and it is such a awesome flash light ! Its ment to be 1500 lumens light but to me its brighter!! I have some so called 3000 lumen lights and my olight MR Warrior 2 looks brighter
Olight torches are the best company out there no other company comes close to the quality of flash lights!
Phil Powell ,how much?

Nice light, never got one since i already had the M2T so I'm Planning on getting one in copper next week to add with my copper S1 r2... i mean besides being able to charge it with the tail cap there basically the same light imo...be nice if they made one in TITANIUM!
whats the most lumen i can get for a good quality compact one for EDC?
Off the top of my head, I would say 1800 with the Nitecore P12GTS
Olight Baton Pro 2000 lumens for $90! Or the Seeker 2, 3000 lumens for $110!
Thrunite TC15 has a 2300 lumen turbo mode.
Independent tests show their output levels are accurate.
Plus the thing only costs $50
Nice Torch! Next Flash Dance, would you please note the Distance in feet\ yards. Also nice to see other levels; cause, Not always in turbo.
Box at you feet you don't like - that's sad. thanks!
Finally.I've ordered 3
how would this perform as a rifle light?
i like the features and size and would considering putting it on an AR 15
Cole F
It’s a little long in my opinion. Also, 1500 lumens would be overkill if you’re planning the rifle for home defense. It would kill your vision to light that up in a bedroom.
ok thanks , any competive options with rechargeable/ tail click that you could recomend for rifle use?
Honestly, I don’t know if another one with the tail cap charging as well as the button on the tail cap. There could be one, but I’ve never seen it.
i dont think i have either... would love to know tho because i like the idea
I own this torch, my only complaint is the push button operation when working in complete darkness, it can be fiddly.
Apart from that, don't leave home without one 👌
Cum pot să am și eu laseri asta
Very good video and yes, I am an Olight fan.
I work in a cave , this looks like what my dream flashlight looks like .
Great review an the cold PBR what memories or lack of lol.
Great light
Thanks for the review
Thrunite is not shock poof .... fact . they do stand by it though. They sent me a new one ... Olight has them beat though... wish the had less modes though.
Did you see my Warrior X review? I dropped it 3 times from 6 feet and it survived. Also, the modes are much less complex. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/QCJB4Owjjd4/v-deo.html
how much is it ?
depends where you buy it. Click the links in the description.
thanks all ☺
Cool flashlight 🔦👍
Just got mine love it!
