Another good review by scannerguy including reporting on the heat produced by this flashlight.
I purchased a catapult V6 on the pre-order deal and I'm very happy with the throw of this small Palm sized flashlight. But I have to say that the amount of heat that this flashlight produces is incredible. Not only does it produce an insane amount of heat that transmits to your hand but it heats up very very quickly. Even on the high setting instead of Turbo it still produces an inordinate amount of heat.
Of all the flashlights I own(and I own plenty of them, including many thrunites) this catapult v6 produces the most heat and in the shortest period of time bar none

I have a huge collection of modded V54 Lights and I bought a stock one of these 2 weeks ago and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Vinh tested a stock one and got 1900 lumens and 825 meters of throw. Nothing comes close to the performance of this little light especially for the price and kudos to Thrunite for offering it with cool & warm emitters.
I have a TN42vn spec 4 on the way and I can't wait to try it.
5500 lumens and 2,190 meters of throw.

One thing that i like in this flashlight, is that is not full laser thrower (and i like it very much), it can also light more than the hot spot area( at least in the video i saw this), and i think it will be my first thrower that can also light more enviroment than the hot spot that is made to light up. Plus you make very detailed videos and you help me a lot every time i see a video of you, so i must suscribe to your channel, is the less i can do. Excellent job sir.

I see all of these flashlights claiming 1,000-4,000 lumens but they just don't seem as bright as they should. I have a 240 lumen LED Lensor and it does great. Its bright! So, some of these numbers out there just don't make sense. Like this, this one seems like a true 1700 lumens. It's brighter than the 4400 lumen flashlight out there... I am purchasing this one. I hate one of my flashlight which is the brightest one ever but the batteries last 10 minutes with full of charge.

This light is nice, but I don't know why a lot of chinese manufacturers don't make the brightness level more consistent like going from 180 > 360 > 600 > 900, rather than jumping from 180 lumen to 900 lumen. What a waste of battery. What if you're close to an object and don't need 900 lumen brightness? Wouldn't it make more sense to allow users more control over the brightness to save battery? from 180 lumen = 9 hrs to 950 lumen = 165 min. If Thrunite made it 360 lumen, you can save or have more runtime hours and the same with 660 lumen before hitting 950 lumen. I sent a suggestion to thrunite and told them to change it. It would be wiser to use a dial or stepless brightness to let the users decide how much brightness they want. Sofirn does that. Either break it down into multiple brightness steps evenly or make a stepless version.
Likewise, the thrunite tc20, which uses the xhp70 led, can beam out at 3800 lumen, but the company uses an orange peel reflector, which is great for flood, but why didn't the company make a smooth reflector version at that high lumen? Wouldn't it throw at a more greater distance than this light which is only 1700 lumen with a smooth reflector? Companies need to think things more intelligently/efficiently, rather than just make a product. Don't just design a product, but think carefully and make an awesome product. Haikelite for example, has not just one version of its flashlight, but multiple versions of the same model like: a smooth or an orange peel reflector. Let the consumers decide what's best for them.
I'm sure after I complained to thrunite, it will make a new version and maybe with more steps of brightness; something that the engineers should have thought about in the beginning. Confucius once said "Life is really simple, but people insist on making everything so complicated".

I just bought a flashlight from cabelas made by led lenser. It's 1000 lumens for 9 hours. This light your showing runs for 9 hours on 180 lumens. It's not much more either, an even $100. It has a focus, its waterproof, and its rechargeable. It looks smaller than the one your reviewing as well. It has a 7 year warrenty... kind of blows this one out of the water.

I bought it when it was a pre-order from thrunite for $59.99. I love it and all thrunite flashlights , BUT , the drop test on a lot of their flashlights is very poor.
I recently bought the TC20 3800 lumen compact light and it's also amazing.
Just dont drop it too often. Otherwise it's a great light.

    • @YOUTUBEISRANBYRETARDS
      @YOUTUBEISRANBYRETARDS 5 років тому +1

Bryan Resch All flashlights are high risk when dropping them. Those drop tests you see on UA-cam are controlled meaning the person controlled how the product landed. Under normal usage most drops are unexpected and undetermined how far they will drop and what angles they will land on impact whether on concrete or any other surfaces. I always use my lanyard and when I’m not used it I use a flex cord hooked to my belt which prevents me dropping it to the ground if I lose grip. The owner should always practice sensible use of their products. There’s a big difference between being damage proof vrs being damage resistant. The flashlight is 100% worth it and Thrunite offers a good warranty vrs past products and services. You can thank companies like Nitecore, Olight and Acebeam for creating innovation in companies like Thrunite.

Hey Scannerguy1968, big reader on BLF, CPF and just bought the Acebeam T27 rated at 1180 meters of throw. I've taken it out into dark fields and don't get any useable amount of light past 350 meters, MAX. Do you have any experience with that light? I ask because I was on the fence between the T27 and the V6, and I chose what I did. Your shots make the V6 look like a much farther throwing light.
It looks like the Catapult V6 is hitting the 500 meter mark down the road with plenty of light to see, even off the dark colored trees. Is it as bright as the camera shows with the naked eye, or does zooming in with the camera have a significant effect in allowing you to see that area?
Here is a video I took last night with the Acebeam T27. The distance is 313 meters, the video shows the amount of light I was seeing with my eyes. I would hardly call it useable light, its about as far out as the beam reaches. Trees are still dark at that distance. I definitely appreciate your time, and awesome reviews, I watch them all the time.

This light falls into the category of light I am looking for right now, but I've just had such bad luck with Thrunite in the past. I've had 3 Thrunites die on me so far. One was dead on arrival and replaced, the other two developed switch problems later on. I'm not sure I want to chance buying another one. Great job on the video nonetheless.

Man that's weird. Every Thrunite I've had holds up. My go to light is still the old Tn12 2014. I've dropped it many times. Washed it twice. Did you contact thrunite at all.

scannerguy1968 Even though I've had bad luck in the past with Thrunite, I just had to try this light so I ordered one. I really hope it holds up because the specs are perfect for what I need. Thrunite batteries have been great for me, it's just been issue with the older style switches (clicky style). This seems to have an electronic switch which I hope is more reliable.

Hi, what are the detailed controls option? I know that when i hold it, i get light, medium,, high...then double click, i get turbo. Then double click again, i get strobe. I lost the manual. Thanks.

It’s a fantastic flashlight no doubt, but unless your in total darkness somewhere like next to the woods no street lights then I’m sure it’s that bright and have an incredible throw. I own the same flashlight and mine is nothing like that, thrunite catapult v6,it’s in cool white. Maybe it’s me,just saying.

Sweet thanks guy. Going to get one for work. I use a stream light HL 800 lunem I going to buy this one hope the bulb lasts . Did you find out how long the bulb lasts and if it’s shock and water resistant. Also find out the shock results and how many charges the battery can take and if you can keep it in the charger without mess up the battery. Thanks again.

I was told that turbo only lasts a few minutes then steps down in power by a lot. How long have you left it on in each mode and how long will it last on each of them?

complicated mfer Not really. Good searchlights for helicopters can light a diameter of up to 76 meters from a distance of 1km! That’s more throw (and bigger) than everything else.
