I remember being a kid and going to the roller rink....they would play music like this...there was really good skaters there and they would be jamming on their skates to music like this....of course i was impressionable and thought this kind of music was awesome....this was back in the 80s....small town roller rink but the DJ there clearly had some good taste in music and was influenced by this style and was happy to share it.
40 some years later...i still get on my skates...i still love hearing this music.
I grew up with this music.I use to pop n lock and still got moves.This was when music was just that...music.Hip-hop n break dance started in ny...The Bronx.I'm from conn and use to hang out there.It was my 2nd home.Play at your own risk,kraftwerk.That was music.

I guess it depends on the genre. I went on into industrial and techno after early to mid 80's hiphop.
Techno, trance, and house were all particularly good in the 90's. As well as 'alternative'. I do remember some R&B gems in there as well.
