Some players make it out of that pretty well. Kyle Lowry ended up a multiple time all-star, not to mention champion, same with Rajon Rondo. Hell, even Mike Conley became a late all-star. All those three players have something in common, they had an edge to them. Their skill sets allowed them to do really well in their later years, some even flourishing in their early 30's. I love D'Lo but I don't see as much longevity in him, injury concerns aside. D'Lo isn't the defender those guys are, he isn't as consistent shooting as Lowry or Conley, he can make plays for others but a guy like Rondo can just summon opportunities for his teammates. D'Lo has the potential to shine in his later career, he already has the shiftiness and the confidence needed, he just needs the consistency and honestly need to just find his purpose.

DLO is a solid player but was never that athletic, and nowadays everyone is so he’s getting left behind. He still has one of the top 5 bags at his position but without athleticism really drags his worth down. He needs to stop and get that athleticism, weight and aggression up. If he did he would transition to being of the best guards in the league. Look at what niggas like Murray and Brunson are doing. DLO need to either get strong or bouncy and fast.

I would say dlo was at his best on the warriors. Having him play off ball and giving him the green light to shoot almost half of his shots from three in steve kerrs motion heavy offense really played to his strengths as a bigger guard who is also a knockdown shooter. He's been great since coming back from injury last season for the Wolves. Especially this season. His shooting splits haven't been great but he's impacted the game in several other ways. He gets easy shots for others around him. I don't know where the Wolves would be without him tbh. He's been an above average defender, one of the better off-ball defenders for this team. He's got the highest +/- in the league that just shows you how much he means to this Wolves team. I can see why people might think he should be a 6th man based on his box score stats but from the eye test he's having an all-star impact to this team.

Interesting point about large market teams and the pressure that comes with playing for them. I think more directly It's about the fanbase and their toxicity more then the size of the market though. Case and point to me as a cleveland area native is the Browns. Here in Cleveland we have a perfect storm of a legendary history, followed by decade after decade of trash. The teams history has created an intense fanbase, even though most people weren't alive during that time they were raised by people who were and were ingrained with love for football. Everyone thinks they are an expert when it comes to football in this town and thinks they know how to fix it. The fanbase turns on players (baker, odell) and becomes that players own worst enemy. We destroy their psyche with our constant criticism and jeering and then almost force the team to release or trade players the fanbase has turned on because they are crumbling under such pressure and furthermore ticket sales will ultimately be effected.

It doesn't matter how great of a talent you are on the field/court...if you can't get on the field/court. You also need consistency when you are playing. You can't be red hot for a short stretch and then be ice cold for a long stretch.
Best case scenario for him right now it seems is to be on a rebuilding team. A team where if he's healthy, he can get a long look, try to stay healthy for an extended period of time, and then maybe once the team that has him is ready to move on, he can get onto a contending team's roster.

I disagree with the NFL being more lenient in terms of proving worth. Your argument boils down to numbers but the reality is, most NFL players never see the field. The nature of the sport essentially calls for there to have to be surplus, but surplus is exactly that, surplus. In the NBA, if you're one of the 17 on a squad, you're going to get a least *some* visibility. In the NFL, you could be saddled in the practice squad and never move your way up. The NFL seldom makes substitutions because the manner the sport is played typically allows for ample rest. The reason why the draft is so bloated is because teams need to be able to still function in case of injuries, but technology is getting better, and injuries are becoming less common. Most teams have third and fourth string quarterbacks you've never heard of. How often does a lineman get hurt? There's reserves for those too. The NFL has open tryouts for the very reason of filling the roster just in case whereas the closest thing in the NBA is the G-League. Getting a callup from the G-League guarantees an opportunity; moving from the practice squad to the reserves is just more waiting. If you erased all the players on NFL rosters that either don't see the field or have only seen it a couple times, you're going to get numbers much *much* closer to that of the NBA.
Still a solid video but I don't know if I'm willing to give you the point about leniency in the NFL over the NBA.
Oh and... whats good fellow Georgia native? 😂
