Once I happened to visit the main branch of SBI at Amritsar. Time was about 11 AM and I was sitting in the Branch Managers Cabin. He was a senior officer and was a Sikh. I still remember his name as Gurnam Singh.
While we were discussing some issue, he called the peon and said , that Mr ...... Singh is sitting on the counter, just ask him to come to my cabin.
Now when that Sikh Gentelman came, Mr Gurnam Singh just asked him, kinna time ho giya hai.

Fer Gurnam Singh ji ne gusse vich keha, tusi bank de counter te baithe ho, SBI nu represent kar rahe ho te thatha ban ke baithe ho.

Now since Branch Manager happened to be a Sikh himself he could boldly scold him.
Had Branch Manager be a Hindu gentleman, he would have not said anything, and that Sikh clerk would have continued for ever.
Same is the condition of various Sikh staff in public dealing offices in Punjab. Even in trains and buses, one may see Sikh gentleman having thatha on his dress.
Kalsi saab, with due apologies, turban is not included in 5 kakars. During those times even Hindus, Muslims,Sikhs all adorned turban. Even people from Iran , Afghanistan used to adorn turban. Even during pre independence all communities used to have turban. People higher in society wore turban with kulla.

Incorrect information. Turban is a symbol of nobility and royalty. Only the elite wore the turban. Ordinary Muslims did not wear turbans. Among Hindus only upper caste Rajputs wore the turban. Even today, Rajput dominated villages do not allow Shudars to wear turbans. Guru Gobind Singh Ji distributed this symbol of royalty to every human. He gave humans turban, long hair, beard, moustache, sword and a horse. Go to Rajasthan, Gujarat, except upper caste Hindus; people will kill you for riding horse on your baraat.

It's fault of our own community. Be it Punjab or here. The " Sanu ki " mentality. During eighties when things starting raising its head, most of the silent Sikh majority said Sanu ki. Had it been checked by the elders 84 would have not happened.
