Great Review (series). Thanks a lot. Matthias Lebo noticed constant color shifts during filming, which were very damaging in post-production. Did you noticed that too? Could this have something to do with the fact that he dived in green water and not blue water? I think you can live with the slightly overdone red that is sometimes too much for me. In return you get a really great low light performance.
It's a trade-off for sure. I haven't had too much color shift happening but it's true that on most action cameras with automatic white balance the camera sometimes has trouble locking in the correction that's needed if the situation is extreme. That can definitely happen with very green water for instance.
The color shifts happen when you shoot in pureview- as the AI sorts what’s going on. In green water it happens specifically at 10 feet (turns blue) and then again about 30 feet - for daylight dives. As long as I don’t film across those depths it’s fantastic. Pureview on night dives is straight up astounding. 4k60 is good but, purview is a whole different game- as long as you don’t need 60fps.
Great review, ➕ ➕ . As an aspiring tech and cave diver, these are the types of conditions I expect and appreciate seeing in a camera review: wreck, depth, dark/night.
Great video. Do you list the settings you used for each dive (especially the night dive)? I was wondering if ever used PureVideo underwater? What was the mode (video, etc.), white balance and EV settings, frame rate, etc. Thanks again. Great video.
great video (again). interesting to see that the camera is capable of getting this kind of images without any extra lights. I don't know how many people shoot without lights at depths that require light or night dives...i think the investment they should have would be to get a video light instead of new camera...
Hi. This is a great review, thanks. May I ask where are you recording these shots, as the visibility is outstanding, especially at high depth (60m) Another question. Did you notice any improvements or add-ons along with the firmware updates you received since you first used this camera? Thanks in advance for your feedback. 👌🏻
I know Insta360 doesn’t recommend Pureview for diving- however- on night and dark dives it is absolutely amazing. On daylight dives you can get color shift, more so in green water and at somewhat specific depths. You are limited to 4k30, so if you need 60fps to match source- you’re kinda stuck.
Hi! Don't buy it right now. In two months a new edition is coming out! If you subscribe to the channel and follow me on Instagram, you will surely see notifications about it. It should also release in Spain and has 3 new chapters!
Okay , Roger that. Thanks for notice , despite of that , I would rather to buy in English , cause I m learning English for a non far future in the diving industry. I ll buy it both . Thanks men.
You should! I made the switch myself and had gopro for years and bought the 12 in december but too many failures to be worth it lately. Battery overheating, crashes, not turning on etc etc... not what you expect from an action camera really. After gopro4 it all went downhill.
Have you tried out the DJI Action 4? Not saying it's better or not either way, just wondering if comparison has been done. I've looked around before, and most divers that's tested action cameras don't dive more than 10m in broad daylight, which to me isn't a good baseline. Was glad to see a 30m dive. Personally I am guessing it would be the same, if we're just looking at hardware, same tiny sensors and such. But, Insta360 as a company seems to add additional focus on their software, so wonder if it comes out better after their software coping with it.
Hello, thanks for video. I was wondering if you have come across the AI chip recognize a school of small colorful fish as noise and try to "fix" it, kind of like the AI video editors will do. I have only seen it on one youtubers video with the ace pro, others have said they haven't seen it but their testing has been a small sample size. Between that and the 8 bit color depth Im hesitant to buy it, but that low light is perfect for UV coral reef dives. Thanks for answer in advance.
@@theunderwaterchupacabra2050 not really to be honest. It's a critique I hear often but if you look at some of the videos on this channel, they're shot entirely on the Ace Pro and I don't see an issue with it. It's obviously not meant for the cinemas but it works perfectly for its small size, in difficult shooting situations for display on socials and UA-cam.
Great captures Mate. I m so happy that I got one my self. Its incredible 👍
Enjoy!

Yes I agree. It's difficult to shoot in environments like that so tests like this are useful!
What do you think about the battery life? Camera looks amazing
Battery life is pretty comparable to other action cams!

I don't use PureVideo underwater because Insta360 recommends not to. I used no further adjustments, shot 4K60 and auto white balance
@@DiveSAGA that's crazy that the rest of the settings were defaults. Thanks for info!
Well explained, just returned my go pro 12 and got an ace pro instead, thx for the helpful video!
@@ShanXiTV you're welcome!
Excellent review, thanks!
Happy you like it!
Just amazing video !!!! One question : are u using the case that allows you to go deeper 10m or without any case ?!and which case are u using ?
@@Deadpool-ou2xq thank you. Yes I use the official insta360 underwater housing that goes to 60m
Hi
Did you compared the insta ace pro with the dji action 4 in low light ?
If not can you please try them together
Thanks and keep up the nice videos

Haha I hope the main takeaway is not to dive without lights 🤣 But still the better then camera in low light, the easier to work with!

It will only be released in English but the new edition should be available in Spain.
Seems like a great camera. How easy is the footage to work with in post?
Very comparable to a GoPro
A little blurry and grainy on the night dive clips no? Maybe auto iso too high?
R we able to switch Frame Rates while it's in the Dive case?
@@MrTCshare Yes because you can install custom presets that you can toggle between while it's in the dive case!
@DiveSAGA That is sooo awesome! TQ
@@MrTCshare any time! If you want to pick one up, consider using the link in the comments, especially since it's prime week! 👀
If the camera inside the dive case.. how I will change the photo mode to vedio mode ?

Great video thanks. I'll definitely be buying an Insta 360 Ace Pro as I'm having trouble with my GOPro Hero 8

Unfortunately I don't have access to a DJI Action 4. But yes so far the difference is in the software I find!

I haven't really seen that issue that you describe to be honest. For me it's been consistently performing well
@@DiveSAGA thanks for response, has the 8 bit color or lack of log hindered your content at all?

Nice to see this camera in a tech dive, great review!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to say that! 👊
Please test it again with the new purevideo update
Fantastic video my friend :-)
@@martind.5257 thank you! I appreciate it!
do you prefer pure video mode all the way, or 4k30fps hdr for diving
I just use regular video 4k30
nice , i just wander the Housing can go so deep.
Yes it is rated to 60m/200ft
🇵🇭👍🤿😎!
Keep the videos coming 👍
