I never got to meet Kurt, but I've lived in the Aberdeen area all my life, and Nirvana's influence is still strong here. Back in 2009, my old band, Godfed Static, played a Battle Of The Bands for the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee, which had Kurt's Grandpa, Leland Cobain as one of the judges, and we won the chance to honor Kurt as the opener for Candlebox, and Chad Channings's band "Before Cars" at the D & R Theater in Aberdeen. Apparently we were Leland's favorite of the competition. Kurt was one of my inspirations to start singing, so when we covered "Negative Creep" in front of 1300 people, I pushed myself to the limit like he used to. Chad Channing came up to me after his set, and shook my hand and said "That was fucking awesome dude." One of the best times of my life.

Today I am professor of physics and biology and also a security manager, I love to drive my sports car on evenings and listen to Nirvana songs... and feel as a teenager and Nirvana fan in 1997/98. Thank you for this video, Kurt is the guy who helped and countless others find themselves and where they can go in life. Nirvana Unplugged is honestly my number 1 album of all time. It's full of raw emotion and as a teen when it was released, just off the heels of his death, it spoke to me...and still does. I can't imagine what music would be like had Nirvana not existed. While many call them "over rated" or a crappy rock band, they were the soundtrack to my teens in the 90's. Nirvana is one of those bands that once I discovered them my interest has never waned. I really got into them after seeing the video for heart shaped box in April 2001. It changed how I appreciate music.
Pat Smear was never actually in Nirvana, he just toured with them. Although Kurt did say that Nirvana was meant to be a four piece and he considered adding Pat.
I think what honestly makes Nirvana and their music so amazing is how simple they are. Nirvana's progression, while it may have skyrocketed with Nevermind, was a natural one. Their first record, Bleach, is RAW and is full of heart and human imperfection.
I’m 18 so I wasn’t alive/present for most of their popularity but lately I’ve been really researching this band and really diving deep into their music and I’ve grown this love for the whole sound and the lyrics and everything they stand for like it’s hard to explain but this music speaks to me,the angst the self awareness of the lyrics, the rage,I just wish I was around to see them live in concert

4. Lounge Act
5. Come As You Are
HM: Spank Thru, Sappy, Milk It, Scentless Apprentice
Honorable mentions: every other Nevermind song that isn’t a single
i was 12 when i first heard nirvana . coincidentally it was also the year i started playing guitar . ...... nirvana has been a huge influence on my writing . wouldn't have it any other way . 500 years from now if humanity is still here . there will still be people listening to nirvana .
Kurt changed my life. RIP and thankyou!
Aneurysm was the first song I ever learned on guitar and haven't forgot it to this day
No artist defined the 90s as Nirvana
I just want to say THANK YOU. I love Nirvana, Kurt Cobain, to be exact. And I'm not sure what it is, or why, but EVERY TIME I hear a song by Nirvana, or following the start of a Nirvana song, I immediately start to cry. I look forward to meeting him in Heaven one day.
Unreal my most favourite band ever
@skullsxr can you stop that shit and just let people listen what they want?
@skullsxr no i won't. You are just annoying stupid fuck, that's all
skullsxr why do you want to know their age?
skullsxr I would just be nice, what do you mean by honest?
skullsxr what were you going to say?
My uncle was given the ashtray he aways requested here in Athens, GA. It's a resuraunt named The Grit, owned by Michael Stipe. True story. It was handmade by a local artist and looked cool, so he always used it.
Don't forget that they were awarded in 2014 rock hall of fame
I’ll never forget the very first time I heard SLTS, the video was on mtv, I got goosebumps I cried. I knew instantly rock and roll would never be the same, neither would I, and I wasn’t.
I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you
We broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care
To me top 10 Nirvana songs (with covers) are:
1 - Where did you sleep last night
2 - Smells like teen spirit
3 - Come as you are
4 - Lithium
5 - About a girl
6 - Heart shapped box
7 - The man who sold the world
8 - Rape me
9 - In bloom
10 - Lake of fire
Where Did You Sleep Last Night as #1
You're a real one
Though Where did you sleep last night is not Nirvana original. It's a cover
My favorite Nirvana song ..... any of them. The last band I said that about was Pink Floyd.
Ironic how kurt suffered from depression but shed so much light in people's lives! Pure goosebumps listening to nirvana in 2019!🤟
You guys should do alice in chains next
they should do one about polly, search up the meaning. It is INCREDIBLEY dark so it might not be able to go on youtube, but worth a check.
Their best b side has got to be marigold, I love that track especially when dave groll performed it live on their skin and bones album.
I would say they changed music all together for nearly 3 decades now. Not just 1.
Aero Zeppilin reference killed me
There are so many references lmao
drain is like my favourite song, everytime i hear it just get happy and energetic
Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle!!!!!!
I think what honestly makes Nirvana and their music so amazing is how simple they are. Nirvana's progression, while it may have skyrocketed with Nevermind, was a natural one. Their first record, Bleach, is RAW and is full of heart and human imperfection.
This lady’s voice is fitting to this channel 👍
I’m 18 so I wasn’t alive/present for most of their popularity but lately I’ve been really researching this band and really diving deep into their music and I’ve grown this love for the whole sound and the lyrics and everything they stand for like it’s hard to explain but this music speaks to me,the angst the self awareness of the lyrics, the rage,I just wish I was around to see them live in concert
Kurt Cobain was a beautiful man inside and out.
His aunt came to my school as a kid to talk about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I met her twice, once in the 8th grade and again as a senior. She remembered me. That and I lived in one of the same apartment buildings as him on Broadway before.
Oooo can't wait to watch this
My favorite Nirvana song was You Know You're Right, something about the song is just totally different from anything I've ever listened to
