I never got to meet Kurt, but I've lived in the Aberdeen area all my life, and Nirvana's influence is still strong here. Back in 2009, my old band, Godfed Static, played a Battle Of The Bands for the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee, which had Kurt's Grandpa, Leland Cobain as one of the judges, and we won the chance to honor Kurt as the opener for Candlebox, and Chad Channings's band "Before Cars" at the D & R Theater in Aberdeen. Apparently we were Leland's favorite of the competition. Kurt was one of my inspirations to start singing, so when we covered "Negative Creep" in front of 1300 people, I pushed myself to the limit like he used to. Chad Channing came up to me after his set, and shook my hand and said "That was fucking awesome dude." One of the best times of my life.

My Dad told me a story once about how he saw Nirvana live in California back in the late 80's or early 90's (He doesn't remember the exact year but we assume it was before Nevermind) and he said he was really impressed with them and that they would go on to become really huge musicians, which he was right. He also remembers when he heard about Cobains death and he felt pretty sad about it. The thing is Nirvana really isn't my dad's kind of music but he always seemed to love them somehow and was part of the reason I got into them, just wish I could have been around to have seen them live.

my uncle met Kurt back in 1990, Kurt went into a gas station and my uncle was one of the employees. Didnt recognize him at first until he saw them on MTV and immediately recognized him. later in 93, he saw him again by a lake and he said kurt was a really humble quiet person, but a super nice guy. Kurt ended up signing his shirt. He still has it to this day. R.I.P Kurt, thank you for everything🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘❤🤘

The first song I ever heard by them was Lithium and to this day it remains my favorite. I can just picture a 5 year old me sitting on the floor next to radio as the song came on. I had the biggest crush only to find out that Kurt was dead for like 7 years by that time lol. He was cute though! Those eyes 😍

I am a Nirvana fan since 1997. We did not have a cable TV, no MTV, the only source were my friends, who lent me a a Bleach album (CD) for 1 week. But I did not have any CD player at that time, so they've lent me also the CD player with headphones, batteries were going off very quickly. How ever I was listening to an Austrian radio FM4 (on Sundays), where they've played some rarities of Nirvana; like Come on Death, Return of Rat, I hate myself and I want to die, About a girl (Unplugged). I was recording even concerts (Nirvana in Austria, 1989) on my Audio Cassette, so i've collected and owned more rarities than original released Nirvana songs :) After years, in 1999 my friend have had access to the Internet, at that time, I was already playing guitar (i've learned it by myself, without any help, we also have had a band together), so I've seen faces of the Nirvana members for the first times :) As years passed by, I kept searching for unreleased and rare Nirvana songs. Today I am professor of physics and biology and also a security manager, I love to drive my sports car on evenings and listen to Nirvana songs... and feel as a teenager and Nirvana fan in 1997/98. Greetings from Slovenia, a country next to Croatia, where Krist Novoselić's parents came from ;)

Thank you for this video, Kurt is the guy who helped and countless others find themselves and where they can go in life. And a little clarification on " Something in the Way" he didn't right it while sleeping under a bridge, he was lamenting on being back at the bridge, he wanted to revert to his simple life before the fame which is the " Something in the Way" the simple riff and lyrics portray this perfectly. The lyrics also hint at the complexity of life that comes with a spot light.

Nirvana Unplugged is honestly my number 1 album of all time. It's full of raw emotion and as a teen when it was released, just off the heels of his death, it spoke to me...and still does. I can't imagine what music would be like had Nirvana not existed. While many call them "over rated" or a crappy rock band, they were the soundtrack to my teens in the 90's. I'll always count them as one of my Top 3 bands. Great video, thanks!
