The whole purpose of usb c is that every device starts using it and every device is compatible.
Since third party manufacturers like Logitech are still on the type A train you need a dock.
If all those accessories had USB C this whole contraption wasn't needed.

Great video as I was debating whether to do something like this or invest in a Mac mini. I was looking at having a dock to connect to one monitor, external GPU, and external hard drive. Does the MacBook Pro i5 (2017 model) have enough power to make something like that work or should I go with the mini? Thanks.

RealSteelPlays Windows is a piece of Software, the only Ports that comes with are Network socket Ports.
I said „modern windows laptops don’t necessarily come with a lot of ports either“. Look at laptops like the Surface Book, the Surface Pro, Asus Zenbook, or the 13 inch Dell XPS. They don’t have a ton of ports either.

Maybe you could try running macOS on a Gaming Notebook they have Nvidia Optimus disabled and are pretty well suited for a Hackintosh Laptop that would be the Ultimate Macbook!!

You can't upgrade anything in it internally. Everything is soldered to the motherboard including the SSD on that Macbook. Crap excuse for a video. Literally a 9 minute commercial for over priced peripherals. Not to mention advertising/supporting a password management company who's had a major security breach in 2015 and significant security vulnerabilities in 2017. Slimey. "Download Lastpass now" lol
Macbook Pro storage is like 4-5 times faster than a regular SATA SSD. Samsung NVMe 960 Pro is about the only thing that comes close to it.
Brawndo And all that does is improve load times... At the cost of a ton of storage. I'd rather have an 8 TB HDD, than a 1 TB SSD, even with the reduced speeds.
LastPass may have been hacked, but the encryption was way too strong that the data the hackers got were basically useless.

Imagine having that Thunderbolt 3 dock, and it's plugged in with an external GPU with a monitor connected, and a keyboard, a mouse, ethernet, and speakers. Hook it up to a MacBook with a single USB-C, and you have a desktop. I need this in my life.

I mean not just programmers use mac. Logic is a great DAW that is exclusive to Mac. Some people swear by Final Cut which is also exclusive to mac.
Never said it isn't. What I'm trying to say is that you can't compare the time it takes to edit with FCPX on a dual core MacBook Pro isn't comparable to even a desktop i7 running Premiere Pro/Vegas Pro.
People get MacBooks because of the build quality, the great retina screen, the look of the device, the portability and the performance it offers with all the optimization Apple's done. The only reason I can think of when it comes to using Windows is gaming. And that's pretty much what it's been for me - I do all my high-school assignments, consume media and coding on the MacBook and my desktop has been used for mainly gaming.

joe nodden yes, it’s a shame they haven’t updated to intel’s quad core 8th Gen chips but at least the MacBook Pro doesn’t use dinky 15W chips like most 13” laptops.
Even older generations had good cpu's. Even most old i5's were quad cores. Why would they use a cruddy i3 in their flagship line of notebooks?
