I met Ricky Nelson when I was 15 years old and working at the pro shop at the Kelowna Golf Club in Kelowna, British Columbia. Ricky was in town to play the night show at the Kelowna International Regatta which was then known as Canada's greatest water show. This would have been in 1963 and he was only 22 or 23 and had already released Hello Mary Lou and I often wonder how they could have afforded to get Ricky Nelson to come up to Kelowna. I understand that he played at Riviera in Los Angeles and was an excellent player. What a story and it's true. One year on the way to Mexico had to spend a night in LA and walked past Hollywood High which is Ricky's high school.

Yes he was...he took them fishing, to the beach during summers when he wasn’t touring! And when he got home from his last concert which he unfortunately never got to do, he was going to retire the plane & help the boys with their music career & tour less. He was making a big comeback!
