  • Doing a load test on the Honda EX650 suitcase generator. Sry for the poor quality and all the moving around as i dont have the proper equipment for shooting videos, as my phone was sitting on my atv at the beginning of the video. This little generator will power the common household refrigerator. I had two power outages for a couple of days because our power went out from a recent ice storm we had. The common household refrigerator is 500/750 max watts. It powered ours with no problems at all. These older generators always would power a bit more than what they were advertised. Only made this video to give folks an idea on what they can and cannot run with one of these if they are looking to buy one of these little units. I will soon have more videos in the future of load test and possibly other units. Please like and subscribe and thanks again for watching!!!

My dad got one exactly the same as a gift from Honda the year they came out, we still have it. I use it occasionally for camping or if the power goes out. Still starts right up even if it hasn’t ran for a couple of months. Great quality Genny

I have a ex650 with at least 2500 hours on it , burns oil now but still runs like new and just as quiet as my eu2000 👍

Keith Cull rebuild the engine man they still make 90% of the parts for them. These were the best generators ever made by honda in my opinion.

Shocked that it will start the skil circular saw. If I find one for the price I want to pay I'll pick it up. Thinking 🤔 I'm going to do something with my basket case em650 soon. For sure. Nice video 👍

They are well worth getting. They handle more than what they're rated for but I wouldn't push it. Excellent little generator for camping, can run a window unit or stand up unit ac or a small 600w heater or just a bunch of lights and fans and can charge a battery at the same time. Excellent little back up generator for really anything, power outages out on the farm running grinder, small plasma cutter, small welder, etc. I love mine.

Neighbor just gave me an em650 with low compression. I'm going to see if I can make something out of the pair of them. Do you really think this thing will start a full size fridge ?

@@OTAlucard so sorry for the extremely late reply but yes it will start and run a full size fridge and will work without a problem but the problem it will have on a full size fridge is the defrost heater that full size fridges have so if you have an old mechanical style fridge just turn the timer past it's defrost setting and it'll be fine. Again I apologize for the the way overdue reply.

oooh, I feel sorry for the windings on the generator, 2Kw is way above its' rated peak watts (650w at 60Hz), but, like any Honda, it takes it like a champ, but I do love my EX650 (got vids of repairing it on my channel), lovely little generators they are... :)

sanitaireC12 ya it's hard on the windings if you keep doing it and everything but once you get them going its usually no stress on them at all its just the initial surge is what gets them. But out of all honesty i only made the video for folks to see what they can and cannot run on these generators because i never run anything big in it.

Thanks, I enjoyed rebuilding my EX650 (and figuring things out along the way!), so far I've not run it up to capacity though, probably should at somepoint to properly set the governor & carb, I just haven't got a suitable load at the moment to push it to its continuous rating (550W at 60Hz, or 450W at 50Hz)... :)
