I love that Chandler took off, not out of fear of commitment, but out of fear that his family name is cursed and would lead to a bad marriage and he didn't want that for Monica.
Thinking from his recent death without knowing the actor who has been using drugs for depression. Shows really how you all fake "supporters" cared for him...
BRILLIANT use of "show don't tell." Between Monica's denial of taking a pregnancy test and Rachel's terrified "uh-huh" with the zoom-in on her face, we all know exactly what's really going on.
Love Jennifer Expressions the rush of feelings she showed at the end of the scene it was perfect way to end the season Mondler's union and Rachel beginning new phase of her life.
I wish your life could have been as sweet and happy as displayed in this show. You will be missed, but thank you for the memories and laughter. Fly free lovely man. ❤
I actually watched this episode the night before Matthew passed away. This used to be one of my favorite episodes ever but now it reminds me of the fateful day. RIP Matty ❤ We love you so much
He actually was sober here. He was in treatment, but at this point, he was doing well. If you watch his interview with Diane Sawyer, he specifically was very pleased to rewatch this scene as it was a moment he could be proud of.
@@RachMonPhoebs I was going to write something like that. I think it was actually after the proposal scene at the end of season 6 that he was rushed back to rehab.
this was so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. it showed so much of each character’s depth. phoebe was a badass as always. ross was anxious but dealing with it. chandler went through his trauma again but came back cus he loved monica so deeply. monica was so accepting about chandler running out, and handled it so calmly and respectfully (like saying unless you don’t want to haha). joey was a lil crazy as always but was so so happy for them. rachel was as always being bad at communicating and hiding what she’s truly going through, but was really starting off her new, anxiety-inducing but beautiful chapter. such a memorable scene this was. friends always does an outstanding job😢💛 p.s. rest in peace matthew perry. your job as an actor and also as an addiction fighter will always be in us.
I can’t believe Everlong is one of my favorite songs in the entire world and I didn’t recognize it even though I’ve seen this scene countless times and Mondler is one of my favorite tv couples ever. Dude. So much more sentimental value now.
I watched all these beautiful moments Repeatedly with so much joy and peace.Upto last year. Not anymore.I can't find that emotions i had before. It's now making me Sad. Watching him😢 NGL, He and pheobe are my favourite 2 from the series. I was devastated for days after October 28th😢 love you perry❤you will always lives in our ❤️😢
When I originally watched this in May 2001 and Monica was surprised to hear about the baby and I saw the look on Rachel's face, I knew it was her who was pregnant.
I’m his book he talks about how this one such a hard time for him - they dropped him off from rehab to do this scene I find it so interesting I cannot tell in any of the friends episodes when he was on drugs or sober he was good at hiding his issues
Yeah ikr its so sad and apparently he went back to the treatment centre after filming this scence, it must have been so hard for him but im so proud of how he pulled through

knowing that he was escorted from rehab to film this is so sad, because even as sick as he was at the time he was still great. Imagine the Possibilities 😢
I just found out in his book that he was absolutely “out of it” when they filmed this scene. So so sad, he could pull it off this well. He was so far into the addiction. 😢
What ever he was going through he hid it extremely well. To this day I don’t know of any person who looks that good amid in the midst of addiction. No stuttering, not sweating and eyes not blood shot. I’ve watched the entire series now I never see any signs he was drinking heavily. Not even a bloated puffy face or dry lips. Either he had extremely magical makeup artists or he over exaggerated his addiction. No one can be that calm or quick witted on sleeping tablets, uppers and downers and booze on the daily.
Thank goodness - he was on drugs here and only stayed sober for very short periods he wouldn’t have been a good partner or dad - the whole cast was very angry w him in this scene he had been dropped off From rehab and picked up to do this scene and was on pills the second he had a chance sad but his lover was pills
Joey was just the best for this.... People, by the way, it's New Yawk. Not New York. . . . Like totally! 😶 I see they made it interesting like that at the end of the scene more puzzling. 🥰
Ok. But wtf did Joey mean about Memorial Day 2002. Was Joey hinting that he would join the army after the events of 9/11? Did friends predict 9/11?? I don't know, but the way he said that. Mf knew something
Hahaha, the movie Joey was filming at the time (why he has that costume on) was set to release on Memorial Day 2002. That’s why he said the costume would make sense that day
Am sorry but it wasn't romantic with Chandler running away. The writers lost they mark in this episode and also Rachel pregnant with Ross baby and not being together 🤍💍
I’ve watched this season finale so many times and each time I watch it, I feel so bad for Monica.. it was her wedding day and they focused more on Rachel and her being pregnant than the poor bride. Couldn’t they push that pregnancy stuff to a different episode? Rachel always stole Monica’s thunder, even when Monica and Chandler got engaged, Rachel had to make it about her and how sad she was about not being married 🤦🏻♂️ I love the show but Monica and phoebe definitely got the shaft as far as attention
I have a question, since this is about a wedding. At my brother's wedding reception, in the hall, the banquets manager was giving this worker a hard time. She was mad at her for signing up for a service by herself, claiming she couldn't do that and that she needed someone to guide her. It was like, "I've told you not to sign up for shifts by yourself, I've been very clear about that, I don't know how much clearer I can get for you to listen." I'm guessing she has a learning disability, and thus why the boss didn't trust her skills and independence. The girl then said, "You know, I'm beginning to see why you work so many wedding receptions." I don't get it
Don't think I've ever seen an uglier wedding dress outside of movies or TV episodes where the dress was specifically _supposed_ to be ugly. Monica looks so terrible that I always feel bad for her even though I know she's just a TV character.
We see time and again that Monica was good for Chandler. Go back and look at the scene where they're talking after their first fight. He assumes that since they have fought, obviously next they will break up, and she is perplexed as to why he would think that whenever it lasting relationship goes through fights at some point..... "oh, wait, now I get it" dawns on her face.
I love that Chandler took off, not out of fear of commitment, but out of fear that his family name is cursed and would lead to a bad marriage and he didn't want that for Monica.
''curse'' was just an excuse, maybe even subconscious one. It was still largely fear of commitment due to childhood trauma/bad parental example
@ It can be fear of commitment but not because he was afraid to commit, but that they’d be destined for a bad marriage.
Seeing Chandler isn't the same anymore
Gives you mixed feelings, right? You feel really sad, but at the same time really happy for all the great momemts he gave us.

He rushed to medical center after shooting this weddings. He had so much money, but nobody could heal him? That's insane.

This wedding was significant because it was after Princess Diana's death and before 9/11 and before the royal (weddings).
