They retconned her character to give her the only ending the audience would accept as a happy one because it's the ultra conservative traditionalist one THEY would want, even though it flew in the face of everything we'd ever learnt about her.
I love when Chandler takes the phone away from Monica and makes the static noise so she doesn’t have to keep talking to het annoying mother and he comforts her.
She was the one unknowingly making that snorting noise while crying that he didn't have to say anything, which is why he went in action, well, that should work and hung up the phone.

I have never related to a character more than I did with Phoebe when she realized she was in her 30s, had never had a serious relationship, and while everyone assumed that's what she wanted, she actually wanted to fall in love. I felt so much hope when Mike finally proposed and Phoebe finally said yes. Her wedding was beautiful. I got teary eyed when she took off her coat and said she didn't care if she was cold, she wanted the whole experience 💜💜💜💜💚💚💚💚💙💙💙💙
