Great Review lads waiting for delivery this week, I’ve had the same slip on’s and powder coated the heat shields black with the number plates new home on a tail tidy sitting under the fender/mudguard hopefully this will stop the worst of the mud. I found a lot of under seat vibration was uncomfortable. It’s definitely a fantastic handling bike though & felt a lot lighter than my 2017 Dyna Fatbob!

Mud off the front tyre is a mess on the forward areas so a fender extender is a must. Likewise rain is flicked up from the rear tyre! A dreadful design! Bigger mudguards are essential! Our number-plates are stupid looking on the side, sometimes we just have to accept that big English number-plates look best below a rear mudguard!

    Excellent review.
Since you asked, I have a Fat Bob 114 2019 in black, and things I've done to it so far:
    1. Added Harley heated grips, essential for Scotland!
    2. Added Harley cruise control, makes motorways so much better.
    3. It came with the same V&H slipons as your demo model, as well as saddlebags, didn't need to do those myself.
    4. Added a TomTom GPS mount up front.
    5. Added heated jacket lead.
    6. Removed the ridiculous passenger grab strap; it's flimsy and held on by a single tiny bolt! I would not trust it with a passenger's life! My pillion passenger just grabs a hold of me.
    7. Added Harley long stem mirrors and mirror extenders, the standard mirrors as they come are borderline un-usable.
    8. Added a GPS tracker for peace of mind.
    9. Had Harley fix the throttle; it was rattling laterally and back and forth, i.e. it had way too much slop. Fixed under warranty so now there is no rattling when you are riding around.
    10. Had Harley fix the rear brake pedal; I think the brakes needed bleeding (which they did under warranty) and moved the pedal up a few degrees. Prior to the fix, even mashing the rear brake pedal produced little effect while riding, and you basically had to stand on it to hill hold. After the fix, it works fine and is useful, without needing to utterly mash it.
Next things needing to be done:
The end of the forks have some of the black paint flaking off, right where the stanchion meets the fork tube. This needs to be fixed under warranty as well, as that is absolutely not supposed to happen.

Number plates on British bikes are really ridiculously large; especially on that bike, I expect the eventual owner will modify it.

I’ve got the 2023 model and I come from sport bikes. Went to an adventure bike for a year 2017 Honda Africa twin which was a great bike but this fits my riding style much more than adventure bikes. The torque is beautiful and really makes me feel like i’m back on a sports bike with that get up and go. High end not so much but that low end definitely.

I attribute the good loods of the bike to the hearty tires. I also like the bobbed rear end, inverterted forks, dual front disk brakes, and upright riding postion with the wide handle bas. Presumably this will help maintain control of the bike when pushing it into the curves. It may also force riders to be alert and attune to the road because of the physical effort needed to hold onto the bars. When I sat on it they felt very broad.

    Another fab review thanks.
Love the sound, I like the overall look of the bike except I'm not a fan of the way the exhaust bends in front of that hunk of a engine(each to their own I suppose😃) The number plate is a big no as well.
    Keep them coming 👍

Good bikes , have ridden most of the new softails... leaps and bounds ahead of the old dyna's. Currently own a sport glide, only criticism would be the galvanized bolts are a bit of a let down. You guy's make very good reviews, keep it up.

I hate to say this but your vidios have excellent balanced sound especially from the ENGINE sound ,I hope my American u tube chanals learn and listen to your vidios and the SOUND of the engine, it reminds me of the poorly HD commercial of ther bikes and no sound of engines only music .Keep it up brothers.Ron

Also.... If you want a Hd that goes well enough, goes round corners and has a bit of luggage practicality, buy a sportglide.
The best to ride of the current crop

Being honest at 5'8 I'd start with mid controls, Z bars and a handle bar fairing. I'd also explore doing something tasteful with that rear end to stop muck flying up my back. Nothing too radical with noisy pipes, just something like what you've added to make it breathe, restore character.

Nice review lads! Same setup as my Fatbob. It's THE bike in the range if you want to cruise and a do a bit of the twisties. Had a lowrider S and gave it up for the Fatbob and no looking back. The size of the fuel tank though is slightly annoying. Good to see HD have embraced and furthered the aesthetic with the new Sportster S.

I bought one my fat bob in black with V&H pipes and a tune, two months ago. Absolutely love it. Changed the uk number plate arm with a under mudguard LED and bracket. Only small criticisms would be mirrors are too short and Speed on new dial is hard to see sometimes.

I watched the 2019 review earlier today. I actually prefer the sound and look of the Harley stock pipes. Like Mr Darcy I didn't like the shape and style of the front light or the tiny little digital instrument cluster on some other models but they've grown on me over time too. I liked the camera view on the ride on the country lane. It gave a great view of the bike in action.

Good review, even though you had a limited time with it. Its true, but never mentioned in American road tests, that yes, you get soaked/filthy when a side mount number plate is fitted. I've had a 114 fatbob since new in 2018. Fitted a Two Brothers 2-1 and a Fuelpak. Best brakes and handling of the 6 previously owned harleys. Also owned various Japanese bikes Triumphs and even a V-max so I have diverse experience. Can cruise at "fast" motorway speeds as good as any unfaired bike, mainly due to handlebar positioning and shape. A riders Harley Davidson.

While I'm not fan of HD marketing, I must admit that as impractical as it is, I really like looks of Fat Bob. Last weekend, I rode to San Antonio for demo rides and I was really impressed by Pan Am. Fat Bob was more pleasant riding experience than last year. Fat Boy and Road King I didn't enjoy as I expected. I actually almost bought Fat Bob 3-4 years ago but, the sales guy didn't bother to send me quote as we agreed so, neither did I. Couple months later I bought Super Tenere after almost getting BMW 1200 RT and another customer who was buying shoes changed my mind while I was waiting for Mrs to bring me check book. Talking about spontaneous shopper. Lol. Life is full of surprises.

This or the low rider S maybe? I would change the handlebars on both as I am 5ft 6-7 with short arms. Memphis Shade Road warrior fairing or maybe batwing. Sissy bar, viking bags, freedom pipes, mid controls and a heavy breather would sort of make it complete for me. :)

Just watched this video for the umpteenth time. If the big ole man can look good on it for his size then so can I. What would I do to it. Vent the crankcase intially as well as the heads to stop it sumping, fit a 2 bros turnout pipe and use a V&H Tuner. Pre 21 model then version 3 tuner 21 or later requires version 4. Then move on to an S&S cam plate, oil pump and followers, fit adjustable pushrods and black gloss push rod tubes and follower covers, also quite possibly the rocker mid cover in black. Finally fit a darkhorse crankworks compensator and a manual primary chain tensioner. Maybe later go for the genuine 3 inch extended footpeg kit, bet the ole man would apreciate that mod.
