The Kampilan is a headhunting sword. It's definitely made to decapitate enemies since the heads are taken as a trophy. Some examples owned by datus (chiefs) were ornate and had hilts made of carabao horn, bone, and inlaid with gold, silver, or brass. The pommels also had tassels made out of human hair (which they take from those they decapitate).

Mike's Kampilan is so accurate. The details are as well. I've heard that precolonial Visayan warriors take a piece of hair from their enemies and attach them to their Kampilan's handle when they kill them. Long hair is such a pride at least for the precolonial Visayans and shouldn't be cut short because it is only done to dead people especially those ones killed in battle.
