Can do either. Not a fun part of breeding. I prefer to give them to another friend with big fish... Only if the fish don't have internal illness/parasites
Can you breed guppies ina a community? I’m looking to get a 55 gallon but I currently have a comet goldfish and a male betta and a pleco in a 20 gallon long but I want to start breed guppies again.
I breed guppies in a community and they do just fine it depends on who the tank mates are though. Mine are cory cats, shirmp, and snails.. so very calm chill tank for the guppies. Your betta and possibly even your gold fish would consider the guppies a snack. You could still breed you would just need to learn how to spot when the female is about to give birth and separate her into a little breeding floating box so the babies can be safe and grow without being eaten. Good luck! I just started breeding 3 months ago with only 6 guppies I have 90 now lol!
@@nikkijones8787 oh wow. That’s so cool. I’ve bred guppies before in a community of live bearers and I would put them into a breeder box floating in the tank when they looked pretty pregnant.
@@nikkijones8787 also I currently have a hamster in a 40 gallon breeder and when she isn’t using the tank any more I’m planning on making it a fish tank.
I put 1 male to multiple females in a 10 gallon breeder tank that is empty with nothing but a filter and water and after the female is pregnant I take them out and put them in the fry tank until they give birth then take them out and put them back in the female tank(I have then separated so that there is no accidental breeding)
I looked at your website for buying guppies & I was just wondering from WHAT I SEE 20$ for the fish & shipping is $20.00 so if I was to buy that'd be 40$ in ALL??
@@pittsburghpets3759 so what happens if people spend 40$ & the fish die their out 40 $ & no fish. that's why I haven't bought any. cause I can't afford to make someone ELSE rich while I'm trying to make some extra money myself just to get something going here on a fixed income. :>{ Don't mistake what I'm saying the wrong way, I understand what your doing is well worth the $ your asking cause you are doing a AWESOME job I'll give you that & you have proof it's working & you have a lot of tanks to work with & it takes $ to do everything that needs to be done BRAVO 👍
$40 Is insane for a guppy especially one that isn't even rare. (I have the exact same type and paid $2 lol) I totally agree with you that's an insane price lol. Not to mention shipping the fish is very risky.
Respectfully disagree the more guppy's the less predation goes on... you will have many to sizes of babies growing out... need lots of plants as well. They get use to the babies and may pick off a few, but for the most part they ignore the fry after a while.
@@pittsburghpets3759 In a 10 gallon, maybe, I do not have anything smaller than a 20 tall. However I breed a ton of guppys in 20 tall with lots of plants, and they get use to babies running around the tank, while they may pick of some, most survive. You might want to try it. Less work, I no noticed you do not have many plants. Get guppy grass! I can send you some if you like.
Craig D'Attilo well of course with lots of plants you won’t have any issues but most only have a few plants and if they’re doing live plants it takes time before the plants grow and expand
Beautiful trio, as for me I only have bought at PetSmart but would like to concentrate on one or two breeds or color.
OMG Mitchell, how come your water is always crystal clear ?
Great video on guppy breeding methods. I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Nice video 😎👍
I breed Moscow guppies and just starting to breed cherry pink grass guppies.
Hi there. Do you think/know if meal (pantry) moth larvae makes a good live food for them - or any other fish? Thanks in advance.
im not sure. I use flake food and baby brine shrimp
What filter is that?
What do you think causes fin rot?? And how do you treat fin rot?
poor water and weak genetics. Don't know the best medicine
Hi,do you ship guppies to Montreal Canada brother.
How to sell guppies to a fish store and what do you charge.really need some help.
I saw some babies getting eaten in your video if you look closely in the tank half way through your video.
oh boy! haha
that's not good but with no hiding places in that tank I believe it. Couldn't see it tho
I did too all I could focus on was that. I kept hoping he would put a plant in there
How do breeders cull unwanted guppies? Do they use them as feeders or dispose of them?
Can do either. Not a fun part of breeding. I prefer to give them to another friend with big fish...
Only if the fish don't have internal illness/parasites
i have a 29 gallon cull tank so all my cull guppies i put in there and when i see a good looking guppy i take it out and start a new strain

Nice! I like that set up! keep up the good work
So I want to breed guppies in a 10 gallon, I’m not sure if it’s enough, if so how much should I put in the tank?
you can. start with a trio
Is it truth if you want more females than males you have to higher the temperature and the opposite if you want more males??
I get a good mix but have definitely heard that. idk if its just genetic with some strains but it does work
You have groupies for sale
I hope the 1 dislike change his mind to like 👍
hahaha always at least one
Silver is always beautiful... Guppies are not for me, I tried many times. I do better (great actually) with platies though, don't know why?
Anotherthez I’m the opposite I do good with guppies but suck with platies 😂
i use breeding tank to avoid fry eat by parent

have a friend with a predator tank. I try to do that

in a larger tank I agree. but in my 10s and 20s it plans out that way
