- If Dems cared about Latinos and their opinions they would stop refering to them by a term that the vast majority rejects. Latinos do not want to be called Latinx.

Next there going to want us to stop calling our kids niños and refer to them as ninx
😂 don't give them any ideas
Exactly. I'm not Latino nor am I familiar with the history of the language but I highly doubt the masculine and feminine endings of words weren't designed to be oppressive or offensive to men or women.
So I just learned using gender in words comes from Latin and while that fell off with English Spanish kept it. The whole point was to give gender to words based on their observations. If it seemed more feminine you got a feminine ending but seem more masculine got a masculine ending. Words evolve naturally I don't think there was some patriarchy forcing language on anybody.
😂😅
@@AfricanLionBat if I remember correctly latin as language had the neutral for the words, but while it was becoming other languages it lost that, but the change was natural like other changes over time, just like portuguese from portugal to brazillian portuguese

What does a fake Latino look like?
No we don’t. And we had this discussion at a family carne asada and this came up and no body woman or child cared for that term. Latinos is fine. It does nothing it offends in no way.
Very true who is the douche bag that started all this nonsense
I love how Latinos stick together and put a stop as a community to things that does not benefit their people...Interesting, meanwhile black people still defend their right to call each other the N word and policing who is and isn't and can or can't say it
I agree bro, they tryna force us to use a fucking term that we don't want to use get the fuck out of here
Latin-X or La'TINX, both sound like a slur to call a Latinos.
It does ngl
I truly appreciate how y'all came together and put a stop to that. The black community needs to take notes on how to come together as a community and not allow things that won't benefit the people of the community to slide.....
I would rather be called multiple slurs then be called Latinx

Are you dumb? The word “Latinx” is made to include men/women and the other 1000 gender identities with a single word. This is the gays trying to gayify Latinos, not whites trying to “whitewash” the language
The Anglicised version would be straight forward, it would be just Latin!
No! It the Gender activist's that invented the word because they didn't like the fact Spanish speakers Gender their words, most of Europe genders their words, English is a bit of a outlier because historical English chose to make the language Gender Neutral for ease of use.
? ..do you include french and italians from other parts of the americas?
I don't think it's a matter of Anglicanism. I truly believe it's a Leftist/socialist agenda to degrade and confuse a whole people group. They are doing this will all people groups in different ways. it's a tactic to keep all oppressed and under their rule.

latino here, i really honestly don't mind if people call me latinx but i aint gonna use the word. not gonna bother me, it's just a word.
It’s literally a feature of the language
I'm wondering if Latinx was originally meant to be an informal term? Kinda like a slang, but other people decided to take it more serious than what it was originally intended for.
Latinos is a term used regardless of gender. It’s so obvious whoever created the term doesn’t speak Spanish.
As brazilian im a latinA .. not spanic (because we speak portugues) but yes.. from America Latina..
Please give my A at the final 😊
So the idea behind it is degendering the language. This works to a poont, but not with LatinX. That term is a soft gentrification of Meso and South American language. If someone is personally gender neutral you would use the E as the "inbetween" sound for us Latinos. But, its a personal thing. If people start saying dog as "perre" instead of "perro" you will rightly be looked at like an idiot.
Point being made, even more progressive Latinos find LatinX an "Americanism" and if you want to know how to be inclusive and respectful to Latinos listen to us.
Man, all the stuff about terminology where some people may be getting offended because somebody may use something that could be used in a degrading way…all that upsets me completely. Can we just Judge each individual person if they’re good or not, that’s it, not by color, sexuality, income, or culture and not by an ethnic background? Often times, prejudgment fails us… but on the other hand, the wonderful surprise that you initially overlooked shortsidedly… is a wonderful jewel when you real how wonderful that other person actually is.
No X...no LGBTQ
Latinx sounds like a bug spray ment for latinos
Adding an x instead of a or o literally defeats the purpose of Spanish
But it is dumb! Because people creating that word aren't Spanish speakers, they are English speakers and English is already Gender Neutral so all the have to do is say 'Latin' which is gender neutral in English.
What the fuck is "latin X" sounds like the secret ingredient professor Utonium dropped in the cauldron to create Power Puff Girls
Makes sense though If you speak Spanish anyway. If you're talking to or about a group and it includes even 1 male, the description takes a masculine form. So when talking about an entire peoples, this is grammatically correct and already inclusive in Spanish.
Actually, in Latin America we speak SPANISH, and considering that in fact is a gendered language (even the word for chair has a gender) we also have created inclusive neutral SPANISH. It is waaay harder than the English bullshit of the pronouns, you have to neutralize nouns, adjectives, adverbs and articles. Basically you change any "O" or "A" word termination with an "E". So, if you want to neutralize the word Latino, at least use the CORRECT gender neutral, which is the SPANISH LATINE OR LATINES. And USA should get over your disgusting white saviour complex.
Cuando eso pasa, se utiliza la misma forma masculina porque se despoja de su significado masculino y se convierte en una partícula de género neutro llamada masculino neutro. De nuevo, no necesitamos que los anglos nos rehagan el lenguaje, gracias
That last guy just laying it like it is
It’s true No real Latino would be caught referring them selves to Latinx. Que pendejadas son esas. Smh
I like how it’s supposed to be a more inclusive term yet real latinos/latinas see it as a way to erase part of their identity/culture as they should. These white American art school students think that some racist white dude created the term “latinos” like the n word.
yes it was created somewhat by the French, but latin speakers embraced it immediately and have made it into a beautiful symbol of their culture. these people who think they aren’t racist are actually just doing what they accuse the white colonists of doing, which would be telling a non white ethnicity what to call themselves saying the way they currently identify is just wrong and outdated. Latinx to Latinos is essentially what the word Indian is to Native Americans if that makes sense
From my experience, in America 20-30 years ago you couldnt even identify yourself as Hispanic let alone Latino as freely as we can now. If you weren't white you were the "other" and you couldn't say otherwise. And now that we have a stronger voice and more freedom to accept who we are with pride people still wanna dictate what they think we should be called.
Idgaf if you think LITERAL LETERS of a term directly equates to sexist gender ideology bottom line I am a PROUD LATINA WOMAN from a WONDERFUL LATINO COMMUNITY

What if they don’t identify as a man? This is very transphobic of you to just assume that they are men.
Because as a woman, seems women are much more susceptible to this type of rhetoric because of how we are socialized to be much more accepting than men are. As a real Latino I agree with the last guy
If you are Hispanic, you aren't Americans (yet). Plain and simple. Everyone else who migrated here before the Hispanics, had to give up their former language. But Hispanics refuse to do that. And when one tries to shed that identity (to become fully immersed in American culture), they are shamed for it by other Hispanics. To be fair, assimilation takes a few generations to carry out. Cultural aspects of one's former nationality, doesnt necessarily have to be abandoned, rather, simply given an American twist. But the former language should be abandoned (eventually). It's what makes Americans, American.
The right way to use Latinx is as a derogatory term (I'm brazilian i know what i'm talking about).
It’s true. Even us non-binary ones hate that shit. Were proud of our damn roots

Spanish is a language where almost all nouns and verbs are gendered even down to the conjugation, but if people insist on using a gender-neutral term to describe us then they can call us “Latine” or simply Latin. But nonetheless we have always called ourselves Latinos and will continue to do so regardless of what progressive Anglos think.
