A truly wonderful video to a time that I will never forget, and would return back to gladly if a time machine existed. The new generation can't imagine how we all had it so much better with a fraction of the toys have today. Thanks so much for the great memories.
Thanks. I have lived in truro and bible hill my entire life. Watching this was real cool. It's funny that I had forgotten about alot of places that are no longer in our town. We need the trees back. Thanks for the memories
I am sitting at my desk at work weeping watching this. Somewhere in that town, my mom was probably making donuts. My dad was drinking at the legion (likely). My uncle Ronnie was probably working at the Irving when went by. I was in junior high. So much still to come. Thank you so much for this random little time travel episode.
Shawn Jakudo Hinton amazing! I never knew anyone from the Moore side. Aunt Grace was my dad’s sister. I am adopting you as a cousin. Another uncle, Vince Weatherby, owned the Gulf station at the end of the esplanade too.
Thanks for the drive down memory lane. I left Truro in 1985 and in my mind it still looks like this. My Mom worked at Margolians for 30 years, I know Inglis St like the back of my hand.
My friend sent this to me while I was asleep last night, I wasn't expecting to get slapped with so much nostalgia when I woke up today lmao! I got lost in the Shoppers Drug Mart in the mall when I was 4 or 5, I forgot they were in there. For more time traveling when you're in town - the Fundy Trail mall still has the same flooring from the 80s but they built up the floor because of flooding. I remember Homestead donuts being in there and smoking being allowed lol. Now it's an empty shell.
Remember when we got stuck in that old k mart with your mother and the power went out. Think it was a flood or something. They were coming around with flashlights telling us to get out lol.
That was such fun to watch. I moved to the Truro area in 1982 and enjoyed looking back at the different stores that were here at the time and then comparing how things have changed since then.
Great video. A number of buildings now gone like the town hall and the library and the Bank of Nova Scotia at the corner of Inglis and Prince. And what a change in businesses in 33 years. A good video to share with the historical society.
Damn I was born in Truro and Lived in Bible Hill all my life, While I’ve only lived here since ‘02 it still feels nostalgic seeing some places like cavanaghs where I grew up because my friend was the owners grandson
Got to love the am radio station, not so good when you are driving though. Things sure have changed. When this country girl first moved to Truro I couldn’t believe that the street lights weren’t turned off at night and there were people going all night long.
Holy crap, Mary Brown's was a thing outside Newfoundland 40 years ago? I thought it was only around 2010 that you started seeing them expanding everywhere. Thanks for uploading this video, a real time capsule.
So many memories from this video. When you turned onto Inglis, at about that time 88ish ithink, i slammed into one of those cement pillars as a kid on a crazy carpet, knocked my front teeth out.
Wow! Moved to Truro in 1992 and still here :-) Now we are January 2019 - 34 years later! Almost all the businesses have changed! At Mall Dominion was IGA when I came but shortly after it left. Kmart became Zellers but now Winners and Michaels and no more Sears. Shoppers moved. BIG changes on Prince St. No Youlds. Cinema now the Chamber of Commerce. No Library building at all for it is in old YMCA building. Police station is now town offices. Immanuel Baptist was torn down and new building on top of Yonge Street. Cdn Tire and Ford moved and replaced by Toyota. BMO same! SunSpun Same! BIG changes on Esplanade. No more Carsand-Mosher. Murphys Fish & Chips moved. Bike Monkey and Dollar Store in now. Bible Hill expanded and new housing took over the hundreds of acres of fields in Valley, especially when Dalhousie University bought the NSAC and made it the Dal U Agriculture Campus.
This was filmed on my 5th birthday!! Thanks for the upload, it’s wonderful to remember all the little details about town that I had forgotten as I grew up!! 🎉
This is awesome I’m glad I got to see what it was like when my mom was younger and I got to see ware my grate grandfathers ford dealer was and Fletcher’s :) it makes me happy to see it

Videos like this are pure gold, living history. Great job.
Thanks.

Ron Moore was my Uncle as well!

Charlene Boyce last time we were down, I live in Ontario now, we went to visit Aunty Grace. I have fond memories camping with them at Keji as a kid.
Wow!! This is amazing!!! You should go take another video on Jan 7, so that in another 34 years we can see the changes. 🙂
Fabulous video. The 'good ol-days'. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the drive down memory lane. I left Truro in 1985 and in my mind it still looks like this. My Mom worked at Margolians for 30 years, I know Inglis St like the back of my hand.
Only a handful of people had the forethought in 1985 to to video tours in Canada, I thank them and the ones that are sharing them.

Very cool, I grew up in Truro and this is a great time capsule.
I was born in 86 and always wondered how things looked around town back in the day and now I know ... thanks for this upload!

But they were the good old days, right???🤔

Wow that was amazing ,I moved to Truro in 85 and there are many changes thanks for sharing
Thanks, blast from the past. My home town.. I moved away in 1981, still miss it.
Alot of changes. So awesome to see. Times were so much better and simpler back then.
this is a quality upload
This video is a gem!
Awesome! I remember it all well... a lot of changes. Great to see again!
Your name is oddly familiar. Left in 1990 . If you are the same age, you would remember the Keith Adams Trevor Dugay fight. Things of legend.
Hi, Bob! This bring back some memories.

BIG changes on Esplanade. No more Carsand-Mosher. Murphys Fish & Chips moved. Bike Monkey and Dollar Store in now.

So great to see this footage!
As much as I loved the 80s in Truro I have 0 interest in ever going back lol!
Thank you! What a treasure!
I almost want to do a video going over the exact same route but in 2019 to see the changes
Awesome video. Brings back some memories.
What I wouldn't give to have Mary Brown's in Truro again!!
They're rebooting the brand, there's one in New Minas I know of and a few more around.
They're back now.
I tried desperately to see the gas prices, after passing so many stations! A longer pan on that Gulf station would have been cool.
I tried to do the same thing several times but couldn't catch any prices.
@@anitamoore4580 Did they actually post gas prices on the big signs in the mid - 80's?
Enjoyed this flash from the past! Thank you from Truro, January 2020☺️
Thanks for this!
really cool, great to see some of the old truro 80's. Mary browns', best thighs in town, lol
This is awesome I’m glad I got to see what it was like when my mom was younger and I got to see ware my grate grandfathers ford dealer was and Fletcher’s :) it makes me happy to see it
That was amazing!
great stuff man
This has a modern feel to it.
Didn't realize how many trees we used to have on Prince Street.
Back When I was a Kid Gone since 1994
Fun watching this and seeing the changes....thanks
I don't remember the Lincoln pub....it was fun hearing the radio station call letters CKCL...
If you're driving out to Onslow on the 4 someone has the old CKCL shack in their backyard, it's hilarious.
Bmo has barely changed even though it has like modernised and has cool awnings aboved the doors it's just a building
I remember when the big tree right before the Bible Hill sign was removed
Truro museum or someone should do something like this every decade for video archive.
My hometown 😔
Wow I might be born in 2007 But this is cool
Quite a few changes over the years. Strange seeing K-Cars on the road, the owners must've had a million dollars lol.
K cars -a nice reliable automobile (now that is cruel). LOL
Memories. Lived in Truro from 1991- 2008, great little town. Funny how not much has changed at all.
Very cool to watch, thx for sharing.
