How to make a steel knot by Bending Rebar - Prusik Knot - Without HEATING - Metalworking Project

- Опубліковано 9 чер 2021
- In this video, I make a Steel Knot by Bending Rebar, without using heat.
The knot is called a Prusik Knot
This knot will be used in a future Industrial Style project. I love the look of industrial-style furniture and rebar with knots fits right in with the look I like.
I hope you enjoy my video of the project, it was a lot of fun to make.
The main tools used were a Hammer and a bench vise.

Always use all the correct safety gear, and use your tools safely, I am not a good role model for this.
Hope you found something of use in my video or at least found it entertaining.

Note: When you bend metal/rebar, you naturally weaken it. Bending it cold will normally cause fine cracks, and it may even break if you put enough strain on the rebar or bend it in the same place too many times. Do not rely on cold-bent steel/rebar to support a load. - Розваги
WOW! You know of course, this makes you the champion of the world in rebar knot tying! You were definitely equal to my challenge! I’ve thought about this a lot over the past week, and I figured you might have to bend one turn on each side, then the second on each side etc. on account of interference, but you made it look simple doing one side at a time! I am in awe of your talents, and the fact that you use nothing more than an old bolt and a piece of pipe makes you all the more remarkable! Thanks for accepting and aceing my challenge! I’m inclined to challenge you to do a rebar monkeys fist next, but I know next week you’d have worked yourself to death, and there would be a new video! I’m just not that evil of a person though, so I’ll refrain from issuing that challenge! Thanks Gavin! You are truly remarkable!
Thank you very much Tom, what a lovely comment I really appreciate it. Thank you for your Prusik knot challenge, I am glad you liked the finished product. I have put the Monkeys fist on my list and will have a play when I get time. (I have pinned your comment to the top of the comments list). Thank's again mate.
@@GavinClarkdiy I’m pulling for you, and heat would be totally acceptable when attempting the monkeys fist! Stay safe, stay well! I’ll be watching!

While I'm mesmerized by your steel bending, it's worth mentioning the first rate quality of your videography and editing. You wasted not one second of my time and left me feeling like this is something I want to try out. Thank you!
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
As a SM worker, I have bent a few pcs of rebar in my time, but never a knot.
Very impressive, well done sir!!

Отличная идея. Варю соседке лестницу и обязательно ей такой декор сделаю. Пусть голову ломает, как это у меня получилось. Спасибо👍

I'm a wood worker not a metal worker but you sure have sparked an interest in exploring metal work.

It's awesome to see things done the old way. Brute force , pounding , it's true art.
I do my knots all the time , it helps keep me sharp. You really have to think three dimensionally.
I love this, thank you.
Thank you very much, I agree with you I appreciate your comment, it is a good thing to have to think about what you are doing, not just straight cuts, I wish you the best for your projects.
Rebar Prusik: Something I never expected to see ... ever!
Me neither, but it's nice to try new things. I made it because I was asked if I could. I will bend the ends up and make a hook, I plan to use two of these knots with hooks in a project with 1/2 inch rebar making a wall hanger for coats.

Bending rebar like it was licorice rope - wow. And the finished piece is a work of art.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it.
Auctually, bending a 7mm rebar is more easier than 10mm rebar. I tried bending a 10mm rebar and faileds. I’m going to try it again until a 10mm Rebar Prusik Knot is made by me look really nice like your, sir.@Gavin !
Thank you very much for your videos, sir, mr.Gavin ! You inspire me so much !
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment. If you keep having trouble try using heat. Unless you see a flame in my video it is cold and not heat-treated in any way. But heat makes the bending much easier and there is less chance of the rebar cracking or breaking, heat is basically your friend when bending steel. I am trying to use simple tools and not use heat unless I have to in many of my videos. Some things will need heat to get the bend I need because it is too hard/big to bend or I do not want hammer marks in it. Thank you for your comment. I wish you the best for your project.
I'm totally amazed you did it completely cold, in awe actually!
Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment.
A good challenge Great job as always my friend thanks. Thanks Tom for the request.👍👍

You’re welcome George! Although reading the comments makes me feel like I’ve created a monster! Ha! Stay well!

I keep picturing a balcony railing made of these rebar knots.
Really nice work.
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. They would look awesome along a balcony.
Wow, never would have thought of using copper to generate the fulcrum point... It seems to work well with low diameter rebar. Thanks Gavin. I learned something today.
I only used it because I had it here and it fitted well, I have since made a good strong bar for bending this small rebar and the copper was bending too much. Thank you for your comment.
very cool
Thank you very much.
Wow! Thiss will make a beautiful and functional hinge or pivot for rustic projects. Thanks. Be Well and Good Journey Richie
